I think I get it now, if he was traveling in the same lane as you BEFORE the turn then yes its his fault. If hes apologizing then get to that money!

Awwww...poor car. Try giving it a good wax massage to cheer it up. There, how's that for sympathy for your car? Sorry to hear about the mis-hap. At least it wasn't as bad as mine.

Oh, yeah, sypathy for the car too
And anyway, the U turn isn't a factor if you ask me...you hadn't done it yet so it doesn't matter. That would be like thinking about robbing a bank, and driving up to the parking lot with a ski mask on and a note that says "give me all your money" and then someone rear ends you. You're not a bank robber at that point, but someone does owe you for messing with your rear bumper.

Glad you guys back me up. I'm gonna get an appraisal today at Plaza Motors. I used to work there, and got one there before. It was quite steep then I'll say that much. The guy was driving a Benz, I bet he'll just drop me some cash.

At least he wasn't driving a 90's Chevy Blazer, in his late 30's, living at home with mom still....kind of like the guy who hit me. Then I'd say you got something to worry about.

Bill - I'm trying to register for Mazdaspeed motorsports, but I have to provide results from my 2 autocross races. How can I get this?

Oh and btw, I got it estimated at Plaza Motors. $768!! Replace the whole rear bumper because some of the plastic discolored and that's the only way to truly fix it. I'll probably just buy the ms rear bumper. This guy better not try to wiggle out of it.

The results can be found at http://www.stlsolo.org. If you're needing a hard copy (excel spreadsheet) then you can probably shoot an e-mail to Reto Koradi at rkoradi@charter.net. He's the guy that handles the scoring and what-not for the region.

Are you registering for the contingency program? If so those are only good for the SCCA national tour events... unless you've found something I haven't.

I'm just registering for mazdaspeed motorsports. Check it out here: www.mazdaspeedmotorsports.com. They basically sell mazda and mazdaspeed parts at a discount to people who actually race mazdas. Not that I actually race mazdas, but autox counts, and they have a minimum of 2 races/year, so I should qualify. Apparently back in the day anyone could buy from them, then they decided only people racing or building a racecar.

That's what I was up against when that parked car jumped up and hit me. I paid the whole thing, I thought it was $600, I had it done at a place on Woodson in Overland. I think it was Don's Auto body. They did an excellent job. For a few other scrapes, I went to Old Style on Dorsett, West of Lindbergh, they were OK also. Plaza did my old Caddy once when I hit a deer. I had a Caddie DTS at the time and deer lost that fight

UPDATE--

Alright I spoke with the guy's insurance company today who said they'll be sending me a check right away for $765. He said he would file a claim, and I waited two days for him to do so, but he did not. I just called his insurance and made one myself. So far so good. As long asI get the check I'm happy. So....what to do with the money??

One option is to fix the paint blemish, which is quite small ( a few inch radius). This wouldn't cost too much.

Another option is to buy the MS rear. I have considered getting the MS kit eventually, but am not sure if I will. I could get the rear for about the same amount as they're paying me. The only possible problem here is if the rear would look out of place without the side skirts. I'm not sure if it hangs lower than the sides of the car (w/o side skirts).

Ok long post, opinions??

Hey Fish.........I have the MS kit w/out side skirts. The only problem is $800 does not go far. I would bank it for now. The price should drop for the kit as time goes on. Unless you found a sweet deal!!

I would think snowboarder would chime in here. He's got the full MS kit I believe. Off the top of my head I think that it wouldn't look terrible, but definitely wouldn't match as well as the MS skirts. I've seen the MS skirts w/ the stock front and rear on a titanium and that looks pretty good.

Chico you do have the side flares though, which will match up in height around the rear wheel. I would have the ms rear with no side skirts at all. The problem is if I buy the rear for now, I would probably buy the front end and side skirts together, because it seems to me you can't have one w/o the other. Unfortunately that would be about 2 large and I'm not dying to change the looks of my car. I'd rather be halfway to a supercharger.

But if the ms rear would look good with the stock styling, then I'd like to get it, cause I like its looks, and I'd say the rest of the ms kit is a possibility in the future at some point

baseball,
I was thinking about your case (the car accident) a while ago. I think it was past the statute of limitations, but if not, was the car in the mom's name? If so you can go after her assets.

Water,
Do you have a picture of that titanium w/ the mazda speed?

All,
I ended up getting a B on the paper. Not too bad, but not what I wanted. I ended up arguing really well on my off-brief (arguing the opposite side of the case) for the moot court competitions, but didn't do so well my on-brief argument. As a result, I didn't make it on to moot court. No biggy, just less work for me.

Congrats on the paper, a B isn't too bad. In regards to my wreck a while ago, the car was in the guys name (the one who hit me), it was considered totalled. So the car being his only asset of any kind really, I was SOL. Thanks for the thought though, and have a good holiday weekend....that goes to everyone!

Gobble, gobble!

Yeah, we can do it. I'll need to invest in a couple of spring compressors, though. I will need them for my spring/shock project in the Spring. When are you planning on getting the springs?
