The plan I had was along those lines; buy-in is $10 per person. Person with the lowest compression wins the pot. Lowest compression will be determined by average of all rotor faces normalized to 250 RPM. In the event of a tie, highest spread in numbers will win.

Does someone have a place in mind where we can do this? It'll require taking out the ESS and a couple spark plugs; most likely need to be able to jack up the car.

I'll be at my dads over break so we could do it there. I'll just have to find some plywood if we need to jack up Adam's car lmao.

The covers are pretty just there to make the engine bay look nice.

Unless you plan on parking your car outside with the hood open while it is snowing, you will be just fine!

Can you guys from St. Louis recommend someone , a dealer or other, who does a good job with RX8's and is reasonable in costs? I called 3 Mazda dealers in the St. Louis area for the cost of the 30K service and got three different quotes from a low of $500 to a high of $800+ including plugs. Maybe you know someone who will do it for less?

Honestly, most of the 30K check up is easy to do yourself. Plugs, coils, wires, and an oil change should cost you around 230 if you do them yourself. And you should be able to rotate your tires on your own.

Personally, I haven't dealt with any of the dealers around here, so I am not much help there..

If you're going to go to a dealership to get it done, I would recommend Lou Fusz Mazda @ Lindbergh & Olive. However like Cole says, most of it (the stuff that matters) you could easily do yourself if you feel so inclined.

Dobbs in St. Charles last winter ended up flooding the 8 when they did a front end alignment. I went to pick it up and I could not get it to run. First they wanted me to pay for them to get it running after I almost killed the battery trying some of the deflooding DIYs on here. I ended up blamed them for not knowing about the car or rotary engines and picked it up the next day without problems or added cost.

I might be getting rid of the 8. I had problems last night. Started the car and had a high idle and no response from the gas pedal. After restarting the car a few times it was back to normal.

It's common for the 8 to rev high when its cold outside. And its common for the throttle not to respond until it warms up. There are some YouTube videos of other 8's doing the same.

Merry Christmas everyone.

Weird. I was in Lowes for maybe 10 minutes. It should have still been fairly warm.

Ya only 10 minutes is weird, also not positive about the non responsive throttle, try doing a search because I know this is an issue that has been discussed on here.

How long was your drive to Lowe's though? If it wasn't that warm when you went in it could have been cold when you came out.
