That's good to know. I put 200k+ on a saab 900 back in the day and constantly ran into minor annoying issues when I took somewhere other than a saab specialist. Which resulted in my having to make adjustments myself after the fact -- frustrating and no longer an option given life's schedule.

It also seemed to me that having a mechanic that was familiar with the quirks of a particular make/vehicle was exceptionally helpful when it came to recognizing and dealing with issues early, before they became significant. May just be that saabs are exceptionally quirky, but the "lesson" stuck with me. I've since been very successful with the boring family cars taking my toyota to Jamco and the nissan to Franklin Specialists.

I'm in Shrewsbury (south county, just off I44) but would certainly travel some distance if I liked the shop!

I wish DIY was an option, but with two jobs and the kids I'll be happy if I have time just to drive the car for sport . . . tinkering, enjoyable as it might be, would have to come out of what's left of my sleeping time.

Thanks for taking the time.

Welcome! There are always some of us around to help with things. I'm in Fenton and I know others are around as well. You should read up on a few threads to get you started.

https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-discuss...t-here-202454/

https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-discuss...rx-8-a-233937/

https://www.rx8club.com/tech-garage-...ot-8-a-202548/

Those 3 are very good to read to familiarize yourself with the car. Regular oil changes and new ignition bits every 30k should be your main concerns if you are gonna leave it stock.

I think the simple answer to your question is that there aren't really any specialists around here for rotaries. But we are glad to help anytime man!

Hey Adam,

I got some VLED Platinum series Red lights 7443_20_P_CK_R is the part number.

You may need a resistor to get em to work I never put em on. Anyways they were like $75 bucks if I'm not mistaken I'll send em to you for like $35 shipped. Let me know if your interested.

Adam, I'm really disappointed that you don't have this planned before we have even thought of it. I expect more from you, really. Slacker. Work on your psychic powers.

I should be there.......because I always am.

Hello! The interstate meeting is gaining ground! Groups from Wisconsin, Chicago, Central Illinois are all on board! Total number of cars is getting close to 100! Plans are not exactly set as to how the meet will be but it won't take much longer. If anyone on here normally sets up meetings for your group please email me at

mnrx8club@yahoo.com

and let me know if you're interested! If you're just interested in showing up please feel free to email me as well and I will keep you up to date with the info about the meet. Thanks guys!

So I found this "Saleen Rx8 Lowering Kit" locally..

Yeah, so I was surprised Saleen was making stuff for the Rx8, So I confirmed no items found via google. And after talking to the guy he seems less than knowledgeable about anything.

He now says he doesn't see a name on the box. But he insists they are lowering springs for an Rx8..

he also claims they are adjustable.. Which I didn't think was possible.

I'm completely new to lowering a car in any capacity.. So I'm hoping you guys can look at this and tell me what we're looking at.. Any help appreciated.

No no no. Stay away from that ripoff ebay nonsense. If you want to go a little lower for a few bucks then a good set of springs can be had pretty cheap.

Adam, where did you order your exhaust shrouds from? I just ordered some from mazmart but they didn't say how long it takes for the part to arrive.

I also ordered a set of SS brake lines.

Hoping to sort out most of the little issues with the 8 before any of the bigger meets this year.

If anyone would be interested in joining us there might be a bit of a cruise on Saturday the 13th. Meeting in Fenton and driving out to Elephant Rocks. Maybe a BBQ there and hang out. It's about 150-160 miles round trip.
