Did we decide on cruise, BBQ, Fast Eddies, other dining establishment? Maybe we could meet at the boat dock parking lot at the foot of the Alton bridge and go from there. If we want to BBQ I have access to a small Weber Smokey Joe that'll fit in the trunk. Honestly I'm up for anything and going anywhere, but that's just me. I'd hate to speak for everyone else. Maybe we should vote?

Yes mirrors came in trying to find someone to paint them. If you know of anyone let me know. White autobody wanted to charge me almost 200...thats ridiculous.

That smoker will still fit with the sub?

Come on guys, Lady needs a good quality shop that can paint her mirrors!

Here are my thoughts. Fast Eddie's for food, you can't buy the supplies for BBQ cheeper than you can get lunch at Eddie's. Then we could head up the river road, go over to the Alton Belle, or both. Up the river road in Grafton, they have a cozy little, old fashioned ice cream shop where we could stop for dessert after Eddie's (if it is still there). Maybe meet up around noon at Fast Eddie's on Sept 4th? How does all that sound?

The Harley guys should be fine. Might even know some of them through my dad. Hey Katie, if you want, maybe I could talk them into letting have a ride on the back of one of their bikes. You can see how it compares to Bill's.

Hmm... Maze? I'd make sure you get a lifetime warranty with them on the paint. I had a car worked on there and the quality of work wasn't good at all AND they didn't bleed the brakes very well after putting the car back together. Long story short (and long car shorter) the car ended up getting the front end removed by a semi.

I guess since this just a single component of a car and they're not doing any repairs you might be ok. I think the paint matched well. Of course I only got to see it for a few hours.

Got my mirrors back and so far so good. What the maze guy basically did was painted them under the table and used some paint that was left over from a different job with the same color. Thats why they were so cheap. I can't complain. So Bill and Wim install day on saturday!

VERY NICE!!! Can't wait to see those babies on there.

I might also have an exhaust to install that day, too! I can't make up my mind if I want to splurge or not, though. I think I might've spent enough money in the past couple of months.

Me and "Mr. Two Tone" will "bee" there. Still planning on Fast Eddie's at noon on Sunday, Sept. 4th. So everyone is clear.

I'll try to be there. The RX-8 is no longer street legal (SCCA race car) but I'll see if I can convince my wife to come along, or at least loan me her Legacy GT so I don't have to try to keep up with you in the tow vehicle.

I have a shop in Sauget and build and maintain race cars, specializing in rear wheel drive Mazdas. Maybe we can do an install day sometime. We can discuss over lunch if there is interest. Website is www.tuxedoparkracing.com, but I'm a one man show so it is a little out of date. Have a lot of Spec Miata and IT-7 stuff going on right now, and just finished rebuilding my Renesis (warped apex seals).

The 8 looks nice. You'll definitely have to come as I'd love to find out what you've done to the suspension. I'm in the market for getting my 8 Solo ready with a track day every now and then.

Ok, change in plans folks. It appears that 3 of the people who were going aren't anymore. I guess with the holiday weekend and everything else people are busy. However, we'll probably end up meeting at Modena's place and going for a swim later on in the day. I just hope everyone sees this before they head out to Fast Eddie's.

Chicago Area Meets

Hi all!

Thought I'd drop in real quick and invite all of you to any of our Chicago area meets. Seems we are getting some fun stuff together -- we have three meets scheduled in September (with one being a Poker Rally with the JGTCA) as well as a track meet at Road America and ZoomZoomLive in October.

I try to update with the first post in this thread with info as people supply it. If you're interested in a drive up north, by all means please come and join us!

If you'd like to join our email group, please PM me and I'll send you the details.

I've missed every one of these so far, so I pull no weight...but I like the Fast Eddie's idea. Can we give it a try again for next month?

Actually I'd be up for a road trip up there. Hopefully we can get a few other local peeps to caravan up. Chicago's a great city! I'll shoot you a PM to get on the mailing list.

I'm up for another attempt at the Fast Eddie's idea. Our next meet would fall on October 2nd. Which as far as I know is not a holiday weekend unless you count that being the day of the last regular season home game of the Cardinals at the current Busch Stadium. But I'm up for it. Any other takers?

I briefly chatted with Modena on the subject of the days of these meets and we both agreed that the first, third, and last Sundays of the month coincide with a lot of holidays. How about we go for the second Sundays from now on? Also, one thing I've noticed the Chicago area doing is they post the time, place, etc. in the first post of the thread.

Anyone else with some ideas?

I would be up for that. Maybe we could finally have a turn of more than the same four of us. Mixing it up never hurt anything.

I figured I would bump this up the list a little. So, what does everyone think about another attempt at meeting at Fast Eddie's in Alton, IL then cruzing the river road on the second Sunday of October (to better schedule for those who haven't been able to make it). This would end up being October 9th. We could figure around noon or so?

Anybody out there, or am I the only one posting anymore? Modena, I got an awesome promotion at work so might have to look into getting the exhaust upgrade among other things, that you had talked about. We'll have to see. I officialy start in my new position a week from this coming Monday (October 3rd).
