Exclamation St Louis - Sunday, Oct 17th BBQ - West County

We've been chatting about it for awhile, so the time is here (actually passed) to get on the ball and really plan a get-together. The rx7club gang wants to do it this day, and I really hope for a good rx8club turnout. I'd love to find somebody local willing to do some serious mods to their car, cuz I can get parts cheap or free in exchange for a magazine install story. I'll also have a stack of RX Tuner magazines to give away ... and if the turnout is good, I'll put a little story about the event in the next issue of the mag

So, the plan is, meet at Castlewood State park in Ballwin at 1pm. Here's the map to Castlewood:

http://yp.mapquest.com/main.adp?_dir...irscale=6#maps

I'll try and get there first to grab us a spot, but you never know. If you don't see any 7's (or my blue M3 Vert) when you get there, just grab a spot. Make sure and get a spot with one of the built-in BBQ pits nearby. And make sure you drive all the way back to the river before deciding that nobody else is there.

I'll bring all the table stuff - paper plates, napkins, silverware. And Charcoal and lighter fluid. Everybody else, just pick a food item - brats, chips, whatever and bring it. And everybody bring your own beer. But you'll probably want a coolie cup or something to hide your beer in just in case the Park Rangers are on patrol that day.

Any problems, or you get lost, call me at 314.780.2792

Edit:I will be doing serious mods to mine...trying to sell my 1jz twin turboed swapped lexus sc300 in the next couple weeks..would have been sooner if some punk kids didnt break into it.

What do you mean by serious mods.....I was looking in the future but my mod list would consist of 19s, coilovers and eventually turbo once they get their act together on a kit...and whatever more my crazy butt thinks up...

BTW I will be attending the meet for sure so I hope to see you guys there.

Katie

Serious mods, as far as the 8 market goes, is anything other than intake and exhaust. I could easily hook you up on coil-overs, and I have the inside line on everybody who's working on a turbo kit. As with all STL owners, I'm sure nothing will be getting put on till next Spring ... so if you want, lets chat about it. I'll be the guy smoking a cigar

BTW, I'd love to see that SC300 ... I almost bought one myself just so I could turbo it, but went with the M3 instead. I just couldn't handle the heavy, sloppy handling of the stock SC.

Well I was going to drive it to the meet but theives have prevented me from driving it. I originally had the 2jz and the 6 speed bought for it but some mishaps left the motor and tranny in japan. So I settled with the 1jz to get the car on the road. My original plans were to be around 700 horsepower. I already had the kkk blitz turbo, intercooler, and stand alone for it. But l sold it and the car is going to be up for sale when the stuff gets fixed on it and the money will be put towards the eight and my graduate degree.

Yeah the handleing on the sc isnt the greatest.

Heres a pic of it

I'll meet up with you at the BBQ-I'll be the girl in the grey 8

Hi Ryan -- serious mods in the works here. We just did the Tein Flex Coilovers w/EDFC install with my buddies at Lightspeed Motorsports (I took several pictures), and are awaiting the arrival of my new rims. Sometime over the next couple of months, I am planning on the PWR Radiator first, and then the Unorthodox Racing pulleys. I feel like the radiator would be practical before I drive back down to Florida for a couple of cold months. With a little help I can do them sooner than later.

Did you have anything else in mind?

I'm pretty sure I can do the write up -- I am a business/investment writer.

Since you mentioned Lexus, I'd like to show off my friend's GS430 on Rod Millen custom body kit, intake, exhaust, and front big brake kit, and Tein SS Coilovers.

I'll be there around 12:30-1pm. It should be fun. ^_^

As far as serious mods go, the winter is a good planning time, though I'll probably end up doing just about everything performance-oriented short of forced induction. Sure, that power would be nice, but besides being a fun car, this IS my daily driver, so it has to last.

If the turbo is installed properly and the bugs in piggyback (or other electronic device)are worked out-there really should be no reason why it shouldn't last. Thats the problem though with being the first to turbo a n/a car-you get the fun of finding the bugs the company that tested the product did not have. For example, IS300 owners were having ignition problems after they installed their turbo kits and it was found that msd ignitions helped the problem.

I can see the one car situation-its not fun to try to work out kinks with one vehicle. I have been stranded many times lol.

I just love turbo charged cars-owned five of them hopefully the eight will make six.

Thats nice! Have't seen that one around. Rod Millen stuff is very nice.

BTW looked in your sig-Whos supra? That looks mighty fine as well.

If you are looking for help for the pulleys I would be willing to lend a hand.

Certainly not arguing that it COULD be done. In fact, I expect it to be done. That said, however, there's still too much "If" factor in play right now for me. If I end up wanting a toy once I get done doing what I intend to my 8 (and paying it off), I can always try to find something older and rotary to play with. Besides, one example of a good N/A 8 won't hurt. (I say as I duck the things the FI rotary enthusiasts start throwing at me)

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the meet. Catch you all there.

I'm not liking what I hear about the RENESIS' turbo-ability from the people I talk to, people that have done it, and ones who have tried. It sounds like low compression rotors are going to be necessary for any serious boost.

The lure of FI will be too much for many people to resist, though. Otherwise, why would we have members on the forum with nicks like WTFNoTurbo? hehehe Oh well, we can all be power hungry in our own ways, can't we? It's not like I'm staying stock or anything. -_-;; Though, I might still look like I'm standing still if someone gets a turbo'd RENESIS going for any length of time. (And don't misunderestimate them, enthusiasts are resilient people, someone will get it to work, somehow.)

Definitely looking for some boost at some point.

The 600+hp Supra belongs to Lightspeed. The Lexus belongs to one of my college friends, so if you ever go by the Wash U area you might see it there. The car is up for sale, incidentally, as my friend is moving to NYC.

The weather's pretty nasty -- hope it clears up in time for the weekend.

And Go Cards (though admittedly more of a Marlins fan)!

Well, the forecast says... (Insert STL weather joke here) Seriously, though, if it cooperates, tonight is going to be the last of the rain for the week. Then again, it's STL weather. <shrug> Doesn't bother me, I love rain. I just hate people who drive like idiots in it. (Safe speed being one thing, 10mph when there's a drizzle falling on the highway is quite another.)

Sorry thats what I was trying to get at-the IF factor (that being my number one concern as well). I started to rant I do that from time to time.

I will still throw my brat at you just cause lol j/k

'Twas fun, but next time kick the FD people a little more. They underrepresented even worse than we did, and that's pretty bad. hehe It was good to see the people who showed up last time, and to get a couple of different 8 owners there.

I'm sorry I couldn't go (wife's 10-year HS reunion). I would probably be willing to do some serious mods to my car. It's not my daily driver, so down time during installation wouldn't be so much of a problem... I'm really hoping to go to the next meet. When is the next autox?

I had fun meeting you guys and the rx7 people. Hopefully next time I will be in better spirits-a late night wedding party kinda drained me.
