You should see my posts in the RA thread back in October of 2006. I must have annoyed the hell out of Al, Blue, Mac, and both Reds I do have NY plates, so I past an M3 that weekend MUst of been an old one By the way I think blue said he paid $90 for that tent, it was on sale. Being that summer is comming to an end you may be able to get a good price on one. You may want to ask Red 8, he works at Lowes.

Is anybody going to the autocross at the Timberrattlers stadium on Sunday?
I'm toying with the idea of going for my first time.

Our Lowe's buddy is going to set a canopy aside for us tomorrow, and I'm going to pick it up sometime next week.

DD,

I know I can't take sitting in hot sun for very long, and I'm guessing your pregnant wife can't either. So let her know we should have some shade. And that she'll have some company - my wife is coming along as well. She is very laid back and easy to get along with, so they should have a good time making fun of our car obsession Actually, she likes cars and racing quite a bit, she just isn't obsessed with this stuff like we are. She loves to watch racing and loves the sound of the cars at the track (she gets all giddy like a little kid when she first hears the cars), but doesn't really care about the details that much.

Anybody planning on staying at a hotel the night before? I'm at the Holiday Inn Express a few miles down the road. Perhaps we can caravan over and you guys can pick the best spot available in the paddock. I'd hate to get there and get set up, and then you guys show up and tell me that we don't want to be in the spot I found

Also, does anyone have a digital video camera? If so, Jen could be our videoographer for the day. My mom and dad are big race vans (and my mom can't get out much due to her own health issues now), so I'd love to get some video of this to show them. But we don't have a camera. If she breaks your camera I promise we will replace it

My wife actually enjoys it has well. She likes to see the Skip Barber guys at RA crash We will more then likely drive up Friday as well. We can meet up some where in the Chicago area and caravan up their. You working on that Friday? I'll probably take off early. I would like to be at Gingerman by 8 pm on Friday. I'll also be bringing my video camera to take video of some runs. If you want I can let you use it for a run or two to get some in car video. I can switch the mount I have to your car fairly easily.

We are actually going to try to be there around 3 or 4. Planning on leaving Chicago by noon. That way we can beat most of the friday afternoon traffic and I can get plenty of rest the night before.

I'm retired, so I don't have to worry about taking a day off My wife is taking a half day on friday so that we can leave at noon.

Thanks for the in-car video offer! I'm mainly interested in Jen being able to get some video as a spectator. Figure the less things I have to worry about my first time out, the better

Does yours record digitally so that it can be put on the computer, on youtube, etc?

Must be nice to be retired. I can take the day off with no problem but I need to see if my wife can do so as well. I guess we can touch bases later. As for the camera I'm not sure, It uses a small tape but I can down load it to my PC.

I picked mine up at PepBoys. I would also check eBay if you didn't get that one from RedX8

The secret to my success is greyhound powered.

It's so much easier, you just make sure that you have all your boxes, don't need to hunt down certain parts

I don't think I'm too hard on the brakes in my daily driving, but I have no idea how hard I will be on them on a track day.
If you are planning on running more than 1 event I would get a better set of pads, however with the amount of miles on the car, you could probably get away with a track weekend on the stock pads. Just make sure you have fresh brake fluid in there.

Yep, your camcorder uses miniDV cassettes, which are digital audio and video. You can hook it up by either a Firewire or USB 2.0 connection.

Cool I have a digital camera Hope you had fun on your vacation. Even if you don't drive see if you can make it down to Gingerman.

DD,

Don't worry about caravaning with me if it is going to cost you extra time off. I doubt I'd be able to keep up with you anyway

BR,

I doubt I'll do more than Gingerman until next year. I'm assuming I'm going to enjoy it and it won't be too rough on me, so I figure I'll eventually want to get all kinds of stuff, and I'm guessing track pads will be on the list.

Although I did see NASA is doing an autobahn event in October, but it looks like they've got a ton of other stuff going on that day besides HPDE, so I don't know whether it will be worth it or not. Will depend on the cost, I guess. I might consider that one since it's less than an hour from my house.
