Fuz, can we still do the swap on Sunday?
Sunday is fine with me. We'll still need some jack stands though.

Can't we just use a jack to hold up the front end then do the back end?

I won't work on a car that's not on stands.

^ please don't do that. the amount of wiggling needed to get those shock outs, it might fail and fall.
safety should be the first on your mind and that approach is one of the worse.

Yes, I'm sorta stalkerish about other 8s. Don't judge me.
Atredeus, with my color recognition skills for the RX-8, who knows, it may well have been a black one!

I have a couple of jack stands if somebody want to borrow them, also a set of ramps but I don't know if the 8 has clearance to get up them. I guess I will find out at the first oil change.

Speaking of which, mine is not using a whole lot of oil. Maybe 2/3 of a quart in 2000 miles. Oil condition is the cleanest I have ever seen (32,000 miles total). Either I am not driving it hard enough or my expectations of consumption were a bit high. Thoughts?

Hello and welcome to the RX8 club. Your oil consumption is right on with mine and I have 90+k. A lot of the high oil consumption folklore is started outside the community by people (automotive journalists) who make baseless claims about it. Galaxy Grey is a nice color BTW. The hue is somewhere between Ti Grey and Metropolitan Grey, which has more blue in it.

Uswald, where do you live at? How many stands do you have?

We could meet somewhere or you could come over to fuz's house and watch or help us out with the spring uninstall.

I am up 27 on St Rt 129. Approximately 20 minutes North of the 257 / Colerain exit. I have two stands and the ramps. You are welcome to borrow them. Where is fuz's house? When are you looking at doing this? Tomorrow is probably not good, I think there is a game on TV at some point that has some really cool commercials...

Fuz lives out on the East Side.

And the game doesn't start until after 6. I think there'll be plenty of time to get it done if everything is assembled by noon.

I was wanting to get this done early in the morning. The only thing that will take the longest is to get the car up on stands and getting the wheels off/on the car. It will actually go very smoothly.

I live in Oakley and Fuz is only 20mins from me. I texted my buddy, I believe he has 4 stands..I will just wait for his text and get them in the morning.

Its off the Wards Corner exit off of 275. Starting at 9. If you would like a good demo on how to remove springs and struts, come and hand with fuz and I. It will be a good time, and if you have any questions about the 8, we are pretty knowledgeable. This is my second 8 and fuz knows this car like the back of his hand.

Ah man....if I had seen this earlier I would be all over getting the spring demo with you guys, nothing like seeing someone else break their car, ooops, I mean fix, lol. Don't ask how but currently my bonnet is stuck closed and I can't open it think we forgot to reattach the cable to the release when the ram was installed, lmao.

Welcome Matthew and Truva.

I am an 8 stalker too so no worries, lol, if you see a velocity red GT around feel free to wave, flash your lights, act like a fool and I will kindly do so back

Thanks Fuz for the help today. Would of gone smoother if we didn't have to get a spring compressor for the front springs. But other than that, we didn't have any problems at all.

So if anyone is intersted, I have a gently used Tein S Tech springs for sale. $150 takes them. Have less than 500 miles on them. In great shape and the stance is awesome.
