Passed a silver S2 on 275 headed West early this afternoon. First 8 driver to acknowledge another 8 That I have seen. Last week I tried to make contact with another 8 driver (cute dark haired woman in Hamilton) and I think I scared the crap outa her!
Did an alignment today. A buddy does this full time. he got everything to 0.01° of target specs. It was pulling a bit, OK, a lot to the left and it sopped this. Took 0.003" off the front rotors while we were at it. It is nice to have friends in the right places...
One of these days I am going to make it down to Fuel. Probably should have gone this morning and then headed up to Montgomery for the alignment. Maybe get to meet some of you soon.

I live up in Oxford. I was seeing 2 or 3 rx-8 in town, but probably they are students, and I don't think they are on forum here.
Good to know there are more 8s around north west of Cincy. Once my hectic weeks are over, anyone care to have some cookout at my place? I'll get some burgers and hotdogs like last year.

Tacti, I'm in. I have some Koni Yellows that will be here Tuesday I need to install on the 8 as well if you want to help me out with that, it would be great, as well as anyone else that would like to help out. Pick a date (preferably Saturday).

Lucy, I'm home! Pulled through everything I got except the body kit, those Recaros are really nice. I will have to replace the side bolster on the passenger seat which I figured, the covers were going to be redone anyway.
I was planning on hitting the event next weekend, but the wife wants us to go to a wine festival in Dayton. Since I am dragging her to Mid-Ohio I kind of have to do this. That's ok, it just means I will have the bigger 'charger on for the next one.

I just got back from SoCal yesterday afternoon. Not sure I like the humidity here. Of course, the grass was 6" high so I had to cut that as soon as we got home and before the rain today.
My friend Bob and I are making the trip up to MidOhio for the Rolex. I think we're going up Friday and coming home Saturday night.

^ That sucks, and hopefully you won't have to spend a weekend in the hole. Ohio is hard on that stuff.
Fuz, would you be interested in helping with a strut install soon? My dad is too old to roll around on the floor. I need somebody younger, just in case I blow out one of my veins again, someone can rush me to the hospital. hehe

BB8: I might be able to help with the koni install. I don't have a lot of free weekends though. Out of town next weekend, out of town the weekend after that. I have a surprise party to go to the first saturday in June, and I'll be at the track the weekend after that. ****, looks like my weekends are already pretty much booked until mid June.
Bobby: Hopefully no one got hurt including yourself.

No no one was hurt including myself luckily. Just upset at myself at making such a stupid decision. Just gotta learn from this.
Unfortunately meeting everyone on here at Fuel or elsewhere is gonna have to be put on hold for the time being.

I won't be able to do it this weekend, since i'll be working on saturday and go for autocross on sunday.
If you are not in rush, I should be fine on saturday week after if nothing comes up. if anyone else interested, doing something on 26th, let me know, and I'll see if my wife has anything else planned.
otherwise, my June is pretty much open.

Tacti,
There's no hurry on it, as I don't even have my car back yet, and may not even have it until the week of the 26th. Just thought maybe later in June, July time have an install party or something. Thanks for offering to lend a hand with it. Is it free for spectators to watch at Turfway this Sunday? I may stop over and see how you perform!

Congrats on the engagement. I just celebrated 30 years since my first date with my wife. That's one scary number come to think of it. I'm feeling really old now. I need a catback to make me young again.

Thanks to all for the welcome backs.
Steve, you are old. Acceptance is the first step. I'm lucky, I've only known my wife for 9 years. No one needs to know any more than that. I'll see you at Mid-Ohio if not before.
The short shifter is in the Miata and it feels wonderful. Wife hates it, but then she hated the one in the 8 when I first put it in. I told her maybe that would mean she would drive the Miata less, and I got the look. Hoping to lay hands on the widebody kit tomorrow, it will all depend upon getting the Speed up and running. Every time I sit in the Recaros it makes me drool.
Robo, congratulations on the engagement. A good woman will make you a better man. My opinion of course, for what it's worth.

On another note, it is sad that it has come to this but I am very possibly going to be selling my 8 soon. I've enjoyed this car like nothing else so far, but I'm in want of something with a hell of a lot less mileage and newer and more horsepower and all wheel drive and a little more spacially practical...so an Evo X or an Sti. Chances are I'll get back into a rotary as a project car further down the road, but after talking it over with the parents there's no way they'll let me store two cars at their house and not drive them. Fuz, I know you might want those coilovers so give me a call and let me know or I'll sell them with the car. I'd rather just sell the car as is so I don't have to fuss with taking stuff off and switching stuff over.

chief, welcome back was hoping to see you at the turfway, but well, see you at the next event
robo, congrats on the engagement, do all the car mod and fun stuff before you actually get married, this maybe your last chance!
BBrx8, anytime would be fine with me for the install party!
spectating is free, and all you need to do is just show up. i think you can even just ask anyone if they can give you a ride next to. I'm nothing even close to be good, but you are more than welcome to watch me run and ride with me. you can probably have more fun watching lycanthrope in pro-class.
or you can even ride with both of us and see how different between good driver (him) and bad driver (me) lol.
if anyone else wants to come, (even if you won't be running) you should just stop by and see.
it's so much fun, and it's really amazing to watch some of the very experienced drivers flying down the corners...

Man, I'm itching to go racing but I won't be at the next event. I'm retiring the 8 from autocross. It's been super fun to race, but after 3 seasons it's starting to show some wear. The clutch is going to need to be replaced soon and there is some minor body damage I would like to take care of. Plus tires are soooo expensive for this car and when you're racing you really go through them.
That being said I'm not about to give up autocross all together either. So I'm switching platforms. Ryan just sold his Subie so we are taking some of the money from that and buying a Miata to be the designated "race car". We've been on the lookout for a couple of weeks, but haven't come across anything that really suits us yet.

Can't help you with the flywheel, but from what I've heard is that headers are overpriced since they don't really gain you any horsepower, I run the same AP setup you have and the only thing headers would do is make it even louder lol. As for MM I've heard there's been a lot of issues with him lately so idk.

Truva: Shoot Charles Ray Hill From BHR an email about the flywheel and clutch stuff. As far as a header, don't bother until someone (bhr most likely) releases a long tube header. All you do is gain raspy and volume with most of the current offerings, but not a lot of power. MM has been permabanned, but is still doing the AP and tuning. As long as you follow his instructions you shouldn't have any issues. It seems to be much smoother now that he's doing it through google talk.
#4445
cool ill ask him i was thinking about ordering one of their bhr ignitions too, except it will be useless when i get a racing ignition with the turbo. yeah its been the same story about headers all around 3-4hp gain. why did the MM tune get banned??

MM's tune didn't get banned. He got banned as a user. His attitude and business practices are most likely the reasoning, but I've never really seen a straight answer, nor have i asked for one.
The BHR ignition is the best ignition if you're going turbo at some point. I dont' know what racing ignition you'd use. Even if you went standalone engine management, you'd most likely want to use the BHR system for your coils.

ok was wonderin what you ment by MM being banned gotcha. Esmeril offers a race ignition coils and wires with their turbos which looks similar to bhrs set similar warranties and life expectancies too.

There have been some recent issues with Esmeril (I've read one thread about someone who bought their turbo kit and got a bunch of knock-off components, others chimed in on that thread) so I'd ask a lot of questions before buying from them. Personally if I buy anything else performance-wise for the wife's car, I'll be going to BHR.
