Chief, I'll see you this sunday at autox.
anyone else coming? it will be at Wilmington, nice big lot and will be a lot of fun.
GLD Solo Series #9, Cincinnati Region PE #8
this past weekend was with MVSCC, and I had a close call with one of the light posts. but over all, i had fun.
if anyone wants to come see what it's like, i'm more than happy to give you a ride. you just need to promise don't wet your pants when i'm spinning towards one of the light pole passenger side first...
>>BBRX8, we are still up for this saturday right? I'll stop by at fuel first and get some coffee, and then will come over.
anyone else want to meet up at fuel?

I'll be at Fuel Saturday too. Headed up to Columbus that evening for a Miata meet, this is going to be a busy weekend.
Just watched your video, damn that was close. And damn, that was a long course. Hoping for more of the same on Sunday.

A certain sc'd beater might make it to the autox.
Parts are here, tools are not. Assuming that they come in on time, and i can rebuild the vanos. I might try to get it up to Wilmington. Maybe. this still has wife approval pending, and will depend on my state of being after having a poker night saturday with the guys.

it was about 60-70 seconds course.
first half was very tight Miata course and last couple corners were fast one.
my best time was 66.9xx, it put me right in middle 37th in 77 entry for the day in raw time, and 4th in my class (out of 12). not too bad, but I got only one clean run, which was kind of bad...
here's my clean run. I couldn't get closer to cones as i was just keep clipping cones, and wasn't exactly sure where I was hitting cones until I watched the video later on...

Thanks for the offer Tact. I could have driven one of the other two cars, but since I'm not in the running for anything points-wise I'd rather wait and drive the Miata next month. Going to pull the head off today.

how was it Tact? hopefully further from the poles.
I decided that I didn't want to be gone that early, and all day so i didn't make it up. Went for a drive in KY with jason though. I'll post some video once i get it edited. We've started somewhat of a side project with it.

+1 on the event today, eagerly awaiting vids.
Three hours and fifteen minutes to remove the head. I'm getting a little too good at working on this car! Good thing it's so simple. No sign of damage, think it might have had something to do with the wiring getting trapped when I tightened it down the first time. Now to get it all cleaned up and wait for the new gasket to arrive.

+2 on the event as well, I want to see more!!!!
On an unrelated note - Lucy now has just a hair under 150k miles on her and I am thinking it is time to change out bushings :-( I am sure almost all are original to her and wanted a polyurethane set - so..... any of you guys have a kit you used that you liked? I thought it would be easy to find a kit - it certainly was easy to find one for the Rx-7 but I didn't have much luck - I saw some individual sets of bushings on places like goodwin racing but I didn't find any place that had the entire kit as I'd like to replace them all while I am tearing into it. Any experience and/or ideas or hate to send my way over it? I've certainly noticed after the last 555 run that the entire car feels softer than I like and things have seemed to settled too much so I suspect many of them are pretty much shot as I know it isn't the actual shocks or springs. Thinking of doing the bushings and then also upgrading the front and rear strut bars - my focus is just to get the best handling out of the power I have pretty much. Thanks for all ideas in advance folks. Here is a video (boring) taken from Jason's 8 on the 555 run we did a few weeks back that Chief also went on in the Miata....you can see how soft she is and she certainly is more loose than I would like.

I don't know that anyone sells a complete kit for bushings for the car. Energy Suspension's poly bushings only come separate by suspension piece kits.
Don't worry about strut bars, you'll notice very little difference if at all from them. They do nothing for body roll anyway. They help stiffen the chassis, but don't do much.
Invest in sway bars, adjustable end links, koni yellows and springs.
Sway bars made a much more noticeable difference than springs did on my car. Good shocks like the Koni's will help take advantage of the stiffness provided by the sway bars and springs.

Chief, didn't you once indicate that Steele's Hometown Tire in Burlington is reputable?
I spoke with a Keith this morning about setting up a 4-wheel alignment. He said he could do it, if I left it. Just want to make sure I am leaving it with someone reputable and close to the house. I can't seem to get out of my head the last nightmare I left my car at for "work to be done"

Sunday event was a blast. good mix of fast section and some technical turns.
I'm waiting for the final result to be posted so that I can caption that in, but other than that, video is just ready to be uploaded.
I didn't have any spin (no fun), but got most of my run tidy so i'm happy.
I'll post as soon as I get my video uploaded. (probably this afternoon...)

With the expiration of daytripcincinnati.com, Jason and I are taking on the creation of library for driving routes in the Ohio Valley.
The basis is video highlights of each route, and some quick roads here and there with a link to the google map and driving directions.
In the end, it's an excuse for us to get the cars out, which is never bad.

The plan is to travel out and do some of them at some point, but we have a ton of local miles to cover for now.

There are some neat roads around Rabbit Hash, you just have to watch for wildlife and fall-away shoulders.
Installed a GROM Audio Android adapter in the 8. It's pretty slick to use. I wasn't able to get the Bluetooth dongle to work though, have to check into that further.

There are some roads that one of the rags use out of Marietta too that have been published. They'd all require at least an overnight stat to do. The car & driver roads are mostly around Hocking Hills i think. They're a lot of fun, but it's about a 2 hour drive to get there, which makes it tough to do in one day. Especially since there's at least 8 hours of good driving in that area and south. Pretty much anything with a state or national park south of Columbus has some interesting roads.
