Okay, I know I'm a little late to the party, but since you all will be rocketing through my home turf I thought I would join the fray. Yes this is my first post and I'm quite the noobie to forums, but I'm a grizzled veteran of the rotary addiction.

I live 15 minutes north of Saratoga so I'll be attempting to meet up with the pack when they get close. I have lived around here all my life and I went to college near Lake Placid at Paul Smith's (back before dinosaurs when hair bands RULED!! and were Awesome and Rad, you get the idea).

Unless you all are set on going all the way South to Troy, I would suggest a better drive is straight across into Saratoga then up past the Sacandaga Reservoir. The roads down to and around the Troy/Albany area are pretty boring (no offense to those that live there, but I think they would agree).

I'm trying to talk my buddy from Nashua, NH into driving either my RX-8 or my FD RX-7 while I drive the other. That would mean he would probably need to hitch a ride over from Nashua - any volunteers coming from that area? He never killed anyone that didn't ask for it and he bought my first RX-7 off me a dozen or so years ago, so he's not all that bad. Plus he knows all the roads (and cops) from Nashua to Saratoga.

Anyway, I'm in for 1 hotel room and I vote for the Hilton (if there is a vote).

Thanks for putting this together - I have been waiting for this for about 20 years.

ditto

24x RX-8
3x RX-7
1x S2000 (or MR2)
1x Mazdaspeed 3
1x Mazda 3

I'm working hard on adding a friend's modded Supra MK3 to that list but he's playing hard to get...

BTW, am I the only one who thinks we should have someone follow us with a trunk full of engine oil ? 24 RX-8s on the road for 2 days... hell let's get a box of spark plugs while we're at it! :P

Sounds like a beast, but those Supra's always put down huge dyno numbers.

I have gone a different route with my FD RX7
Sleeper stock exterior but with enough under-hood goodies to reliably dyno 350 rwhp and 300 rwtq on stock twin sequential turbos and stock 13B-REW. Just turned 70,000 before it went to sleep last October. It's not the fastest car on the road, but it hauls enough *** to scare the Hell out of me. More fun than the legal limit! Way more.

The RX8 is my bone stock "winter" car, if you can believe it.

Hate understood and excepted - some days I hate myself for driving it in the snow.

We're getting 12 to 16 inches of snow tomorrow and the RX7 will not see daylight for another month - RX8 on snowtires plowing through snow... picture it.

Yeah... heard we'd get 10-20cm here (~4-8in). But I already have my appointment at the dealer to get the MS dual exhaust installed and I just can't stand my 2000 neon AT winter beater anymore... the 8 is on winter shoes so... it's getting out no matter what.

I have a friend with a 93 FD that I may try to get to come. Stage two Pettit Racing engine with 450 rwhp.

Full custom paint job and beautiful chrome wheels.

Maybe I can get him to go on this run.

My friend Dave is still in w/his Legacy GT - but he plans on heading home after Saturday's leg, so no hotel room for him. Wuss.

PM me your info DRK & I'll send you a check for $80 & worry about the difference (if there is one) in May. Don't really have much interest in Paypal getting that much $$ out of it!

Well I am deffinatly going with my wife, but my friend and his 87 RX-7 will not be coming up.I am more inclined to spend $80 or less for a room,so let me know which hotel you end up choosing. We only need one night stay with this trip, right(saturday night)?Oh yeah I will be in the back of the pack with my car,and I don't need to worry as much about gas stops as the RX-8 guys, but with only a 14 gallon tank I will probably fill up with them anyway.

I have another thought on the hotel idea. Giles and I have attended several auto events, between his S2000 club and my Z club, where an overnight stay was involved. In cases where different people wanted to stay at different hotels or the group was too big to be accommodated by one hotel, attendees would book their own rooms and we would all meet at a restaurant for supper and then again in the morning for breakfast before we got going the second day.

In case this is an option, I have posted a poll to get an idea of how much difference there is in preference so everyone can get a room that suits their needs and budget. I hope this helps.
