Well my 8 goes in for it's 90k service start of this week... should be already for the run by Wed. It was a little overdue... sure it will be running real smooth come the run.

Still don't see my name on the spread sheet? Is there a newer one?

Can't wait for the run!

As for the start time, I'm good with the 8am start as well... it's early, but it if I'm getting up in the single diggits, what's the difference! Might as well get started and see where we end up! As far as cutting parts out, I'm not sure it is necessary, but if we have a couple options we can always make a group decission on route and chage to one of the alternate suggested routes if we are falling behind.

The weather is great this weekend... can't wait till next weekend!

Is anyone heading down to Brattlebrow Saturday morning from the West Lebanon area that wants to meat up and drive down together?

And here I was thinking that people would be unhappy about an early Saturday start (there wasn't much love for one on Sunday). Tomorrow, I'll post an updated schedule with us meeting at 8:00 on Sat. We should have all this stuff finalized in the next couple days.

Is anyone planning on meeting at the junction of I-89 & I-93 in Bow, NH? If not, my hubby and I are thinking of getting a room in Brattleboro Friday night.

what kind of radios is everyone bringing? i was going to run out to radio shack to get one but don't know if i need one that has multiple channels or what the plan was. this thread got too long and i know it's buried in there somewhere but 29 pages is too much to sift through. we should do a separate thread with just the basics of what, when, how long, maps, who is officially committed, where everyone is staying, what to bring, etc. as a summary of this thread. since this thing is happening this weekend it will be good to have mendosa's spreadsheet and the need to know info in one place. maybe we can get a couple more people to join if the thread length isn't so daunting.

also, can anyone up north do something about the weather? i don't know who you need to speak to but as of now they're projecting showers on saturday. can someone look into that for us? maybe DRKSIDE or Deslock knows someone they can talk to. maybe clavius can use some of his new pull to get the weather man to clear the weather up for us.

We should link to core info from the 1st post... use 1st post as official reference.. too many people would miss the new thread.

A GPRS/FRS radio with 99 "quiet codes" is all you need. One example.

Don't select based on advertised mile range, it's total B.S. (only way to achieve that range is on a completely flat terrain with no obstructions... and even then, we probably will be using the low-power FRS bands, so all radios are equal there).

I booked Econolodge using "Internet User Rate" from their website and paid $89.09 including the 10% tax. It's a little pricey but I'm splitting it in half, and, for me, it's worth the extra sleep.

I spoke to Mazda in Saratoga; they can't do anything special for us, but they said we're welcome to stop by. So as it stands, that'd be a restroom/parts stop. So here's what we've got:

== SATURDAY ITINERARY DRAFT V2 ==
08:00 Meet in Brattleboro (fuel)
08:30 leave Brattleboro
09:45 leave Bennington (regroup if needed)
10:30 arrive Greenwich (restroom, regroup)
10:45 leave Greenwich
11:15 arrive Saratoga Mazda (restroom, parts, etc)
11:30 leave Saratoga Mazda
12:00 arrive Rx Eight 7s house (lunch, photos, restroom, fuel)
01:45 leave RX Eight 7s
02:30 leave Batchellerville (regroup if needed)
03:30 arrive Speculator (restroom + souvenier shopping)
03:45 leave Speculator
04:xx regroup at scenic roadside stop (no specific place known yet - front car make the call?)
05:30 arrive at Tupper Lake (restroom, regroup)
05:45 leave Tupper lake
06:30 arrive Lake Placid
Again, thanks go to Rx Eight 7s for coming up with that... and again, note that I tweaked the times a bit so if anything is unrealistic blame me not him Unless someone can think of a reason to change anything, I think we're good.

For reference, here's the last Sunday Itinerary:

== SUNDAY ITINERARY DRAFT V3 ==
09:00 Meet in Lake Placid (fuel)
09:30 Group gets on road
10:30 Arrive at Ausable Chasm (restroom)
11:45 Leave Ausable Chasm
12:00 Lunch at Bellas Restaurant
01:15 Leave Bellas
02:15 Arrive at Crown Point State Park (restroom?)
02:45 Leave Crown Point State Park
04:15 Arrive at Texas Falls via Lincoln Gap (restroom)
05:00 Leave Texas Falls
06:15 Arrive Lebanon, NH (fuel, restroom, dinner)
Notes:
  1. We haven't established a Lake Placid meeting point. Any thoughts?
  2. Currently, everyone is on their own for Saturday dinner and Sunday breakfast. Should we try to do a group dinner on Saturday?
  3. For Saturday lunch, RX Eight 7s is hosting. For Sunday lunch, we have reservations at Bellas (used to be called Little Italy Pizzeria).
  4. It's an hour from Lebanon to Brattleboro.
  5. FRS/GMRS radios that support subcodes might come in handy.
  6. With the exception of Sunday lunch reservations and showing up at RX Eight 7s' (since he'll be buying a lot of food), we can change any of this... it was put together really just to get and idea of how long the drives will take.

== Current route map ==

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=e...3,4.438477&z=8

We trimmed a bit off the original route; if anyone thinks we cut out something essential, speak up!

Depending on my timing, I may meet you guys up at the Saratoga Mazda, since it's right along my route to 7's house in Corinth.

I'm going to be peeling off after the Crown Point State Park stop......have a good 5-6 hour drive home from up there.......but otherwise everything else looks good!! Good work people....and thanks for putting this together......can't wait.

This is one weekend chock full of twisty fun!!

Hey Drksyde, since you reserved my room for me, did you call the Swiss to let them know we'll be late arrivals? Just double-checking....

Thanks!

Not quite sure if I'd want the weather man clearing things up :-) Last year when we did the Vermont run - it was raining, and made the run that much more challenging and white knuckled. I'd welcome the rain ;-)

Update spreadsheet for 2007 NE Run

Here's the latest (probably final) version of the spreadsheet! (click me!)

The first meeting point on Saturday is:
- Park & Ride @ Bow Junction; End of I-89 & Bow/Concord line 6:30 AM
- your meetup leader is LilRedShinka
- So far there is... only LilRedShinka and husband. Is that still on? Am I late on some news?

The second meeting point is:
- 972 Putney Road, Brattleboro, VT, 05201 8:00 AM
- your host is DRKSYDE
- ±16 cars join there, making the line ±18 cars long

The third meeting point and lunch is:
- 24 Stark Road, Corinth, NY 12822
- your host is RX Eight 7
- ±6 cars will join there, making the group ±24 cars

SpazzyChaz will join us somewhere sometime in Lake Placid. Spazzy?

There is also 6 members who didn't indicate where they plan to meet the group but did send their contact info (VarneyMazda, Blueovis, bd32322, otakurx, midlifer and TyGuy) and 5 other members who said they'll be there but from whom we don't have meeting point or contact info (chrism, Cool Blue Dad, Red-Baron, rx8frank and mrobert55).

At this point it looks like our line will be about 24 cars long, possibly as much as 35 cars long. We should be between 41 and 58 people counting drivers and passengers.

Please note that I will soon send the complete file to everyone who sent me or dmc their contact info, meaning anyone coming on this run can reach you either by email or phone. If you want to retract your info from the list, tell me NOW.

i'm probably not going to get in until pretty late. i'm coming from 2 hours south and will let rush hour traffic pass by after work friday instead of getting caught in hartford traffic.
