Kevin, like I said bro thanks a million.

Like I expressed to you I dont think it has anything to do w/the optima battery i litterally put it in 2 days before bringing the 8 into you...if anythin maybe the battery saved me from stalling all together if anything....but like I said WAYNE MAZDA is the best.

1. sold me my 8 at a rediculous price (below invoice) and complete wash on my trade in. Zack the internet manager is the greatest guy. Easy to deal with no BS involved he genually wants to get you into a new car.

2. The techs and service department are pretty dam good as well. Thanks like I said to kevin (tech) and Anthony (service rep) who took care of me and my 8 to the fullest degree.

3. Finally another testimony, Chris got a great deal got out of a bad situation w/his 8 and into a beautiful '08 MX5 because like expressed in # 1 - Zack made **** happen....

this is in no way a bad refelction on Kevin or Wayne Mazda at all

but I'm having issues w/my 8 still. it is still stalling. If any of you have an OEM battery laying around that I can borrow or even take off your hands dirt cheap let me know if you can help a brotha out. I need to swap out my optima red top before going back to Wayne so Kevin can look at it again. Its his suggestion so Mazda dont try to jerk me on warrenty work. But like I expressed these issues have started a few weeks ago and it was way before I got the optima red top battery in there.

I hope everyones 4th of July weekend was better than mine cause this is fustrating.

Well it happened again this past Friday (7/4) Was driving out to Long Island to see my girl. This time there was no traffic. Was doing 80/90 the whole way no problems. Came off the exit (exit 57 LIE) and as I was approaching a red light it stalled. Didnt think nothing of it because I thought maybe i wasnt gassing it enough.

Well today (7/6)on my way from NJ on route 3 it stalled as I started to brake to slow down due to a car that decided to cut me off like an *******. Next thing I know the lights came on and it shut off. Threw the hazard lights on and came to a full stop on route 3. Started it up again and drove it not so hard.

3 blocks away from home I decided to try again to see if it would happen again and it did. This time i popped it into 4th gear and started up again very sluggish.

I'm going to do what you suggested and put an OEM battery back in. But Im gonna bring it back to wayne. Im thinking it has to be a more deep rooted electrical issue. maybe ECU? I dunno

All i know is that it is fustrating to have the 8 after only owning it for 6 months and having these kind of issues.

BTW i finally installed my gauges today.

Seriously doubt it it's an '08 and I really haven't touched the hoses.

It has to be elctrical...but so far the alternator has been replaced because it was producing enough juice.

or ECU -- which I think is probably the problem

or sparkk/fuel issues - although I doubt it becuase Mazda checked that and said the fuel delivery was fine so I dunno...

unless the coils are fudged up or something....

LMAO nah I love my rotary...I have so much fun in it. But you are right I'd probably have less issues if I had pistons...but then I wouldn't have 9k prm shifts.

When you find out what's happened please post a new thread - I'd really like to know what the problem is... It's a mystery.... I could've sworn it was just the battery or the alternator....

I feel for you though, I can't imagine how annoying it must be for you. I just hope you don't get hurt while stalling on the roads, please take it easy till you know what's going on.

Yeah I mean since they Mazda changed the alternator it didn't happen. And I was pushing it to see if I could recreate the problem. Nada up until this past weekend. It's scary when you stall on a high way on an elbow section of it all I could remember thinking was I hope no one comes up really fast behind me and not have enough time to see me. There wasn't a should lane either so all I could do was put on the hazards try to come to comeplet stop as quickly as possible so I can restart the car and keep moving. I had forgotten about the whole popping it into 4th gear like was suggested before considering I was worried about getting rear ended - especially since I'm still waiting for my front bumper to arrive so I can have the front repaired due to the whole Lake of 17 incident that happened last month at a Tuesday night meet on Route 17.

I will deff post back more info as it is provided to me by Mazda. I have an 8 o'clock appointment to drop off my 8 tomorrow. I hope this time the actual issuse can be diagnosed found and fixed so that I don't have to go through this drama no more. Do you know how annoying it is to own a sports car that can't go over 80 mph because the heavy load will cause it to stall? Not fun....

Yes....but um....if supposedly the problem was fixed then I wouldn't have to worry about speeding. Besides everyones does over 70 on route 3 and on every road in NJ as well on the LIE & Grand Central in NY.

But yeah for now I have to keep it below 70 and out of 5th and 6th gear...grrrr.

But that doesnt leave the fact that my car is hurt and needs medical attention at Mazda.

OK fellas here is the scoop....

1. I was joking about burning my 8 I absolutely love it and would hate to get ride of it
2. turned out to be a faulty MAS. Wayne Mazda replaced.

So far so good. i have been pushing it prety hard and so far so stalling.

Much props to Keving for spotting that the MAS was faulty. it was reading temperatures way too high. So it was messing up everything else and I assume putting it in safe mode.

Much props to Wayne Mazda and their techs in particular Kevin. Also much props for my service rep Anthony that takes care of me and makes sure I have my loaners or rentals. Also he is awsome w/updates. I mean as soon as he hears something he is on the phone calling.

Im glad I bought my 8 at Wayne, besides the great price i got it for but they just take care of their clients....very happy.

Now I just continue to beat on the 8 and see what happens. If nothign happens see you phuckers at Rotor Jam. Im not showing for the show but I'll be there displaying. I mending the front 8 to look passable for now. My lower lip of the bumper no longer flaps in the wind, lol....

For a full update to finalize this thread, I haven't heard back about the car stallign since last it was in (7/8 or 7/9).

Car came back in, plugged in the computer started a full diagnostic on the motor. Found no codes, nothing too obvious showing up. Began a baro test on the motor to see if we had any sticking seals in the motor causing a temporary loss of compression at load to create a stall situations. Tests came back showing a strong motor so I began to look more closely at all my data.

Found the AIT reading something like 200deg while the ambient temp was maybe 85. Normally at idle with an ambient of 85, i'd see about 135-140 on the AIT. So we began looking. The MAF is where the AIT is so I decided to pull it and see how it looked, to my surprise it felt loose.

What I discovered was the o-ring around the MAF was split in half, completely, one half barely hanging on by a thread. My final diagnosis is that either the car came with the MAF installed a little cockeyed or when the intake was installed the o-ring got slightly pinched. Over the span of 6 months the vibration of the motor eventually turned the pinched o-ring into a split o-ring. Of course a split o-ring at the MAF will alow outside air in (aka vac leak) that goes unmetered. Not only was it a vac leak BUT since outside air was coming in right on top of the MAF it was sending the AIT readings soaring to the temp of the engine bay itself rather then the air entering the engine.

Since I havent heard about it still stalling I'm assuming it is fixed, either that or well i dunno.

kevin.

Damn, looks like the tech guys are going to have to come down, unless you can manage to log some stalls and something shows up. Wish there weren't all these other things that show up everytime they're rather annoying curveballs.

Kevin.

i think thats what he intends to do is capture what ever data is thrown at the time of stall just so he can present it to you accurately.....you know he is getting frustrated but ofcourse he loves the car and just wants it fixed.....
