Well if there is no point to the mods then I will just save up my pennies for a turbo kit then. I do plan on keeping this car a really long time, so is it the consensus that NA the car is almost as good as it gets from the factory?

The performance mods I mentioned work well together for when you go FI (rather that be turbo or supercharger), so its the best "bang for your buck" staying NA while preparing for FI.
That's why I didn't mention intake (which has a little increase when combined with the AP and midpipe... but not alone).

Well thanks for the welcome wagon! I am actually in willoughby right now. My cell sites I am responsable for range from E9th ST cleveland to Painseville and from SR20 north to the lake. I haev about 52 total sites. So if your parents have Revol wireless and live in that area I would be more than happy to take a look at the site closest to the address. I usually have a pretty good rating on my network.

I am at 20 and 91 right now.... Small world. Leaves really do degrade cell signals. During the summer we have to crank up the juice on our towers. FCC regulates how hard we are allowed to plast our cell signals.

Vez: I would advise to really research the mods that you want to make before you do them. That'll keep you from doing something that is stupid and perhaps overpaying. (my midpipe, for example)
Sift through the volumes of crap on this forum, mostly in the DIY and technical section for the best information. As I'm learning, anytime you do a mod that is very difficult to uninstall, you risk your warranty on the core engine.
You'll get a sense of who knows what they're talking about (Like Jon) and who just talks out their *** and pretends to know things (Like Me)

Right on. You all can call me Noel if you like it is my RL name. I would do a crap load of stuff to my car but I have no tools. I miss being in the military. They had the most wonderful DIY lift bays and a HUGE selection of tools.

Some of us went through various modifications to test out what works best (I've used two different intake and two different midpipes).
Only way to know for sure is to try it out for yourself, but since some of us already have done that part, we can guide you in the right direction.
I think Vyn, RK, DB and myself learned alot this past month about oil in the intake manifold and correcting a stuck SSV valve.
Again, you learn by doing.

However, it does make it easy because my car does have the most problems... its a special needs car.

Plus, its not like I paid for that crap. I got a decent deal on the car. The RB exhaust being installed was worth the price. The intake isn't bad and neither are the gauges... the puddle lights, rear fog, oil cap, center caps, rotary valve stem caps, volume ****. . . well, those are pretty out there.
Jon: what time works for you tonight? Perhaps we'll get to the bottom of this flood nonsense. I'm going to grab my floor jack from work in case I we need to pull the plugs to dry them off. I don't have a spark plug socket or a socket for the lug nuts though... I would have bought my tools, but that yellow top set me back a few bucks.

I am on Cobb Tuning.com and you can probably guess that I am reading about the AP. So from what I am reading here I have to ask. What is to stop you from buying one of these and tuning all your friend's RX-8s?

Ryan has one if you want to see it. But you get stopped by the AP getting locked into a VIN. You also need special software for the PC to tune the SOB if I understood Ryan right. And I don't know how people go about clearing it so you can resell it.

So the device has to stay plugged into my car the whole time? If not I am sure there is a way to hack it. Hmmmmmm. At any rate looks like a cool device. Bit expensive though.

VezRX... you can read more about the AP here:

MazdaManiac does custom tunes if you don't feel like self tuning it.
