Guys... are we moving this to the Winking Lizard or Fridays? Now is the time to make that decision. So, although they're expecting us, I bet we'll still have to wait and we can't sit together.
I'm sure I could call ahead to either the Lizard or Fridays.

Friday's and Chilis are going to have the same problem. I honestly don't think that all that many people are going to go out tonight for dinner because of the temp.
Brian: To answer your question. It came down to me being tired of bar food and wanting to hit up something a little better. Yall love your beer and I want no part in getting the way of that. Was just looking for a better food selection is all.

Tom (or anyone else looking),
You mentioned looking at a car for your wife. There's current owner discounts available.

Well... since I moved into my rental house and didn't want to run RJ45 cables through the wall, I decided to get a wireless card/router for Yulia's computer.
I purchased the Linksys WMP110 PCI card and Linksys WRT110 router.
Let me just say this.... I was a fan of Linksys (I've used an older 4-port Linksys router) until now.
So I first open the package and there are labels EVERYWHERE telling me to not install the hardware until the software is installed.
Normally I ignore this, but decided to be good today and follow it.
So I install the software, then the card, then boot into Vista.
Vista couldn't recognize the driver. I even tried to manually tell it where the driver was on the CD, but it still didn't work.
I then try it on XP (she is running a dual-boot) and SAME THING. Windows wouldn't recognize the driver!!!
So I hard-wired the router to the computer AND HAD TO INSTALL SOFTWARE FOR THE ROUTER TO ASSIGN ME AN IP!!!!
AAAHHHHHHHHHHH... WTF!!!!!
My old router was so nice.... plug it in, the router assigns the IP, you're good to go!
So after installing the software and letting it configure the router (which took almost 10 minutes) I tried to go onto Linksys' website to find an updated driver for the PCI card.
There were NO updates! And I noticed my web pages were loading VERY SLOWLY!
Then under their online guides, they say, "DO NOT install the software driver first. Install the card and then install the driver"
WTF... I was PUSHED into installing the software first with all the F-ing labels everywhere!
Fed-Up I called Linksys (which I hate because all they do is read an F-ing screen and go through a "check-list" of items to try).
I explained everything I did and (of course) she didn't have any more ideas.
So she sends me to a Direct Connect site so she can see my PC.
Of course the new router sucks my ***** and the web site kept timing out!
So I hooked my old router up and everything loaded great!
So we connect together and that's when she asks me this, "For a $10 charge I can connect to your computer and resolve this. If I can't figure it out, its refundable."
I said, "Why would I pay for a service when I bought the card/router today? That's what the warranty is for!"
So I told her NO and she disconnected her direct connect service.
So she basically wanted me to install the card onto another PC to verify if its a defective card or PCI slot and if the card doesn't work in the other PC, return the card!
Yep... that's what I thought before I called... worthless IT support!
But even if I get that working.. my router still loads **** slow.
So I'll jump on to their site and look for a firmware update, but I have a feeling I'm returning BOTH the card and router.
So I installed the wireless card onto my PC and surprisingly everything worked!
I was even able to get the router working.
Only large data transfer I do is P2P or video streaming to my XBOX... so hopefully it'll handle that well enough (though I could dedicate an RJ45 connection to my XBOX).
Anyway... just had to rant!

Are you running64 bit versions? I am running into the same troubles with el cheapo dynex. I bought a wireless card for a box to hook up to my tv so I could watch netfilx and play games on it. Well it didnt work so I dusted off a system that has an old AMD processor and is running 32bit XP and sure enough it worked fine. Netflix looks rather nice streaming I wam pleasantly surprised.
Well anyway I feel your pain on that one Jon.

For the simple fact that Linksys is a division of Cisco I avoid them like the plague. I have never been happy with Netgear products and Belkin sucks major ***. So by process of elimination you can tell I run D-Link and couldn't be too much happier.

No... running x86 (32-bit) Vista. I tried x64 but there were no increases while performing a benchmark test.
Its funny you mentioned D-Link John... because I was JUST about to grab it, but changed my mine last sec.
My computer actually handles it just fine, but Yulia's wouldn't (neither Vista or XP).
Driver wouldn't recognize in either OS... even when I forced the card to use the correct driver, Windows would say its not digitally assigned.
So why my Vista worked and her's didn't... I don't know.
Maybe there is something screwy with her PCI port, bus, or south-bridge connection.
Windows did recognize the card as new hardware.
Then I tried to download an updated firmware for the router, but when I choose the path and clicked "Start To Upgrade", it says, "Please designate the path of new firmware."
Even though the path to the .bin file is clearly in the field!
So I will try to leave my PC on the wireless and have the cable modem/router next to Yulia's hard-wired and hope that works.
I was able to download several podcasts at roughly 1MB/sec with the wireless onto my PC (going by how much was downloaded every sec).
Then I streamed it to my XBOX without any problems, though my PC is 3' from the router.
I'll see how well the signal strength is once I move the router upstairs.
Anyway.... this just seems like such a PITA!
I remember running wireless in the past and it was nowhere near as crazy.
The user has literally no control during the installation and if the software doesn't like it, you are screwed!
Some people wonder why I got out of the computer repair business...........

Before you go through all that Jon try using a different PCI slot on the mobo. IRQ's are sometimes defined by slot and you can get a strange conflict. I haven't seen it with newer OS' but who knows with Vista.

Talked to one of the other guys here at the office Jon. The only other thing we could think of is if the BIOS is configured to a Legacy/Non PnP mode and is handling IRQ and memory address allocation. And before you move the router and everything I would just buy another wireless NIC.

Plus with Yulia using Skype for video conferencing with her daughter, I would rather have her PC hooked up through RJ45 instead of wireless.
I am starting to think her mobo is going bad.
I had some weird activity with her ATI 9800XT one day and had to change out the card with a spare Nvidia and then her SB Live acted weird and now she uses the on-board audio.
I think I'll buy her a new mobo, give her my AMD 5600+, and buy the Phenom2 for me
