The MazdaSpeed Exhaust is $690 over at MazdaParts. So I guess that hops in the mix too.

Underneath that muffler on the Borla you can see part of the piping. It actually comes back twice under there. I think that's the way they manage to get such a deep tone and why it drones annoyingly with a racing/single resonated midpipe. You can really hear the drone in that Youtube Jon put up when the guy isn't accellerating. That's why I won't get a midpipe that isn't really, really quiet.

If you can deal with a bit of a wait I'd check Jason at the rx7store.net out. He was slow but he got me the Borla cheaper than Fluid. Only problem is that he usually doesn't have them in stock so you have to wait a bit to get it to you. And he'll probably try to sell you on a rx7store exhaust while you wait.

If you say your with the club he usually knocks a few bucks off.

And if all you're looking for is some noise improvement you might want to consider the AEM Intake instead of an exhaust - at least as long as you don't plan on any NA tuning. Oh and check with Fluid about Hymee's new exhaust. Since he's distributing the supercharger now he might be able to get you that exhaust as well.

Don't ever buy from Mazdaparts.com. They're horrible to do business with. Remember when I had to wait a month+ just to get them to respond to an email about my clear corners order? Some BS about them being at an auto show in South Africa. Horrible, horrible customer service.

Also there are at least 2 MS exhausts. One is good and one isn't although I can't remember which is the good one. Dual sport? Something like that. If you order go through OnlineMazdaParts.com or have Marlon work something up with Westside.

Agree.
My first mod was the AEM intake and it did improve the sound while accelerating.
And its cheaper than the cat-backs.
Now if you want to go catless, then maybe you should stick with purchasing a catback instead of the intake.
It really depends on where you plan on going with your mods.

Yea...I would call Westside...the guys name escapes me that we are supposed to talk to if I went MS. I was just surprised that the cost was that low.

For the money I was figuring that the exhaust was a better value. Going that route leaves me open to other changes down the line as well if I do decide to continue modding.

I really hate how some of these videos sound. Really didn't like how that Borla sounded with the AP midpipe. I also think that the Borla hum is what I want. Im afraid that Im going to be waiting until spring when you guys pull them out again so I can listen to them back to back in person.

Steve,
I have Ryan and Doc's clutch pedal.
We'll meet up sometime before this weekend (maybe Wednesday since I don't work that night).

Doc's pedal is really showing signs of metal fatigue where the tear usually starts.
Its a good thing he is getting it done... I have no doubt his would have snapped off eventually.

Where you guys meeting? Lemme know and i'll catch up with you as well. Just name time and place. I live in the Massillon area now, so i am closer to steve but i don't mind driving anywhere.

On a side note, (and i havent searched it yet but will after i post this) has anyone heard of there being any issues with the e-brake? Mine seems to stick a lot. Tried simply rolling my car a little bit last night to prevent flat spots (dont have jackstands) and the car wouldn't budge. Brake wasn't engaged, was in neutral and it wouldn't budge one bit. Before i parked it, i noticed it would "pop" when i would move after disengaging the e-brake.

You sure it wasn't just the ABS self test?

parked it "officially" last saturday. so it's been 8 full days now.

Does the ABS always test each and every time you start teh car and disengage the ebrake?

The ebrake was disengaged yesterday when i tried to push the car (battery is removed) and it simply wouldn't budge. Not even rock. Don't assume i am not strong enough to push it either, lol. I can bench 225 and leg press over 600... that car's going anywhere i want it... provided the brakes aren't on.

So, is wednesday happening? Time? Place?

ABS would test itself on every start. And 8 days isn't enough to flat spot or freeze the brakes. Just so you know I left my car go 30 days at a time last year without flat spotting. Wonder if the ABS engaged because the battery is unplugged.

Ummm... I don't know!
Haven't seen Steve on here yet.

Its not like we're planning a meet. I'm just going to drop off the clutch pedals so his friend can work on them this weekend (if that is still the plan).

Either that or invest the $30 in jack stands.

no problem in $30 for jack stands, but gonna need to also invest in a decent jack as well. The piddlely thing in the trunk is barely good enough for roadside emergency use.

Called Mazda and here's what i was told, "RX8 does not perform an ABS check at all. The "pop" is due to the pads oxidizing over night. It's possible for the pads rust that quickly due to moisture, etc and can begin to do so in less than 24 hours. The pop is simply due to the pads rusting to the rotors."

Anyway, just gonna throw the battery back in and move it. then simply not reengage the parking brake for the duration of storage.

For anyone interested, i have a contact that can get genuine Greddy Oil Catch Cans from. These are not ebay knock off's. He's a Greddy dealer. I am going to call him in 2 hours (he's PST and opens at 11am) to get pricing. Lemme know if interested and i will let you know what i find out... well, i'll post regardless what costs will be. But if interested, let me know.

This is why you don't contact a dealer.

Probably the same dealer that was going to charge Steve $6000+ to fix his car... when we got it going for the cost of Sea Foam (and our lunch)

was Park Mazda on S. Arlington. Never had an issue with them in the past. Keep in mind, this was someone working "the counter" and probably not an actual tech i spoke with... and more than likely not someone who knows anything about the RX8. Careful to not judge an entire venue based on one retard... especially in regards to the 8. Not many know a whole lot about it. Not being your typical car, i know some are intimidated by it and simply rather not learn anything about it.

Guess that's why we love the damn things. Because it's so unique.

Anyway, i took what he had to say with a grain of salt

Does anyone have a set of RX-8 OEM Rims that they are not using or willing to part with. I am looking for the 18x8 5 spokes.

I don't drive an RX-8 (i know.. wrong forum), but I like the way the RX-8 OEM rims look on Mazda6's. They are a 0.5" wider than the MS6 OEM rims, so they have a more aggressive look.

I'm hoping someone out there bought aftermarket rims, and has their set of OEMS just laying around. PM or email me at jasani.2@gmail.com. Thank guys.

I do have a set of OEM's laying in my garage as I do run Speed6 wheels on my 8. However, I am hanging onto my OEM's...sorry.
