HA... wimp! I just took mine out for a drive.
I have to give it two full drive cycles before I can do the datalog for MazdaManiac.

I did a test log and got all my data saved into Excel.
My LTFT averaged -0.16% and my A/F averaged about 14.6
These are taken at 4200RPM in 4th gear.
I should be able to get my final datalog tonight.

Another project I have in mind is to relocate the OBDII port.
I hated driving with that dongle so close to my leg.
I have a couple ideas in mind.

Drill a couple holes from the bottom.
I had this problem and drilled a small hole under the brake light ring (so its not noticeable), then I drilled on both corners.
You can't notice I drilled them and I never had condensation since.

Its been a couple years, but it was probably 1/16... MAYBE 5/64.
I doubt I went any larger than that.

OH jangle.... take out the light assemble and drill in the bottom black area, NOT through the clear lens.

Here's a question for the masses. I forgot to mention this the other day...

Saturday when i moved my car (had to put the battery back in, start it up... yada yada), i noticed the the DSC light came on and my "oh **** i'm swerving" idiot light came on. Didnt think much of it, attributing it to the fact the car's battery had been removed and it was sitting for a while. Anyway, i let the car run for about 15 min or so and neither light went out. I hit the traction control button but it didn't make a difference about either light being on.

Thoughts? Figure when i finally get the car back on the road and some miles put back on it, they'd correct themselves but wanted to mention it here as well incase someone might have a little bit of insight on what might be causing this.

I drilled too... a very small hole goes a long way. Jon doesn't like where I drilled mine, but I found the lowest point of the taillight to drain the water out when it recondenses.

I would start with the smallest bit you have and then work your way up overtime to see if the little one does the trick.

I guess after reading BHR's post on here I would buy from them. Just as long as the shipping is communicated with me.

John: I'm sorry, but it sounds like the 7th is the day that works for everyone for the autoshow.

Doc: are you and Jon planning to do plugs this weekend?

Might help to have one in the top to vent air in...but it would have to be somewhere where you can't make the problem worse by letting water in through the top.

BTW...the other more popular fix is to order the newer gasket which costs $50.

Shinka_MJR- That light always comes on after having the battery disconnected and will not turn off until you shut the car off.
When you start the car again, it SHOULD be off.

You need to put miles on the car for it to go away...I just don't remember how many miles that is.

You just need to be VERY VERY careful when you go through the clear plastic as to not crack the lens.

I didn't.
Like John said, you might be letting more water in with holes on top.
Try it at the bottom using 1/16 and see how that works.
Then go larger from there like Steve (Vyn) suggested.

Thats normal after you pull the battery. Should go off on your next drive cycle. Also, turn the wheel all the way to the right, then all the way to left to recalibrate.

you have to reset it after the battery has been disconnected...you do this by starting the car, turn the steering wheel all the way to the right and then turn it all the way to the left...it should go off then. happened to me too after i replaced my battery.

This will turn off the DSC light, not the "oh **** I'm swerving" light (I love that comment).
That will be off the next time you start your car.

Jon + Doc: would you mind if I joined for the spark plug change and any other work you're doing?

Jon: would it be possible to do my kill switch at the same time?

I don't know if anyone has their windows tinted, or has had tinting done before, but what is a good price? I know to get non-metallic in the rear because of the radio, but is there anything else to look for? Anyone know what the max legal amount is?

Jon, when you and I were talking on Saturday, its been just eating at me... "With all the stuff that the previous owner did.... why didn't he get the windows tinted??"

Its cheaper than a flywheel... and I could have a shop do it and not screw it up myself.

Sure.
Did you want to ride up together? My car can use a nice long drive.

We can do it Sunday if you want.
I can also look into Friday if that is another option for you.
