Yeah My husband and I moved from Westlake down to Massillon a couple years ago since houses were much cheaper here. We're originally from PA though.

Welcome to the area then! I'll keep a look out for ya. We live near Traphagen/Amherst area. I tag just about every modified Mazda (i.e. tint, wheels) in the area LOL

Better to do it after since installation time can be unknown.
Have you decided where you want to mount the kill switch?

You can't. Just cross your fingers and hope you don't get a reckless ops. But 30 over you probably will.

Next time don't drive that fast. It's a highway not a track.

95 in a 65??

I'm not exactly sure, but I think you need to be doing 150+ to outrun karma...........

I got a ticket for 77 in a 65 a couple months ago... just take your punishment and move on...

Hey guys. I have a thought. I keep seeing new and nifty tools that we can all use. (I just read a thread about cleaning the sock in the fuel pump.) It's a shame for each of us to buy these things and use them only once or so.

Last night I bought a set of sockets to remove rounded bolt heads.

Anyone interested in starting a list of who has what? OR we can all pitch in for tools agreed on and have access without having to buy our own.

For example : "http://www.amazon.com/Tank-Fuel-Pump.../dp/B000I14PGQ

It's less than $20 and got the job done. Compared to the official Mazda tool it is somewhat flimsy, but it's a hell of a lot easier than with no tool at all."

A list of who has what tools (put it in a spreadsheet) and the cost. Then if you need to borrow it, you can go straight to the guy and flip him a couple of bucks for using it (At least a couple of boat drinks). We could start a "tool library" of tools we all purchase together, but that's a management headache. (That would work well for more expensive tools, like the compression tester RK pointed out a while back)

I dunno. Don't flame me for this. It's just a thought trying to save us all a couple bucks.

Its not a bad idea Doc... but I don't think we should "pitch in" to purchase a tool together.
Reason being, I don't a reason for anyone to treat a tool as their own possession when we all pitched-in together.
I don't know... maybe we are more grown up than that (he he he), but I can just see that happening.

With that said, I don't mind if a list of specialty tools were created and kept.
Each one of us can have a specialty tool, but you can also purchase a tool someone else has if you want as a 2nd available set.
This way if John has a tool that Steve needs, it would be easier if I too had the same tool so its less of a drive to exchange it.
Again, I don't need to purchase a 2nd tool, but it might help having a 2nd set.
That's my 2 cents!

On another topic... who is all coming to Doc's tomorrow?

Jon - I'm still planning on meeting you at your place at around 11.30. However, I'll call you and let you know for sure... I am on the rebound from a head cold and I am pretty sure I'll be fine by tomorrow, but I don't want to make an promises.

Tools - I have access to a bunch of the heavy tools we use in the shop (I figured out how to use the sand-blaster)
Lathes to turn rotors - Plasma and oxy fuel cutters to destroy things - Welding equipment - steel saws - air tools (impact gun) -
Basically heavy industrial tooling that I can use.

I also have rounded bolt extractors... 2 jack stands, a crappy jack, and two sets of sockets... but thats about all.

I was just in my user profile uploading my Clutch Kit Pics (FINALLY came in this morning) and I noticed something....
I think its weird that in my profile I have Mazurfer and DOMINION as my friends, but none of my local people.
I'll start sending out invites... having more friends not only makes you look more popular, but adds 10HP per friend!

OK,

So Steve has a mickey mouse toolbox, but a lot of large, cool destructive things. Jon wants to buy 2 of everything. And I have a great big garage full of crap.

I think I'll just drop this idea and if I need something, I'll just ask if you guys have it.......

Jon, I think the only people coming for sure were you and Steve. DB said he was working and RK said he'd stop by if he didn't go skiing.

Trademark. If you can slow down long enough, it would be a good idea to come by and see some of this stuff done. For you Newbies, this is one of the best parts of this group - tearing each others cars apart so you can learn what's going on with your own.

I'll second what Doc is saying. It will help you get all of those little questions answered, like why on Earth does Doc have 2 RX8's, while not looking like an idiot in front of the whole club. That and everybody is cool people so hangin out with a beer in hand is always a good time.

This is absolutely true!
I just love having my own tools and not having to bother others to borrow theirs.
Think that's bad, you should see my toolbox at work

Do any of you have the Cobb AP? I'm interested in getting one, but not sure if the $700 is worth the slight power gain (of course there are other useful features).

As for tools, not too much out of the ordinary. In my 3-car garage (not big enough), I have air, heat (forced air kerosene), 2 jacks, spring compressors, just about any socket/wrench neccessary for most auto work, propane, and your basic auto tools to change suspension, brakes, exhaust, etc.

Who has alignment setups tools?

Do any of you run HPDSs at Mid-Ohio? I'm planning for all 3 weekends this season, plus Bluegrass in KY sometime June. All these are through NASA.

Well I put my clutch back on and have the exact same problem that Doc had with the clutch hitting the floor w/o fully depressing the starter. So if ya'll figure out what's wrong with his let me know so I can fix mine.

Oh and in trying to figure it out I broke the switch used to determine that the clutch is engaged. Just part of the plastic hook that connects the black plastic box to the clutch. Anyone know what part that is so I can order a new one? I may just superglue it but figure if it's a cheap part I'll just get a new one.

I did one NASA HPDE at MidOhio last year (July?). I enjoyed it but unless you really like the ladder system they have set up it's a little overpriced plus they really jam a lot of cars on the track. I forget how many we had in my sessions but it was at least 10 more than I had at a NORPCA HPDE at MidOhio in October. I enjoyed that event a lot more.

I haven't decided if I'll do another NASA event or not this year but I'll definitely be down there at least a couple times.

I live on the West side of Cleveland, so that wouldn't be me Downtown. If any of you are getting together to work on your cars in the near future, let me know. It's tough to get away form the wife and kids since I travel for work so often, but I can slip out no and again .

I'd like to drive an RX8 with the AP someday before I buy one. I just lined up buyer for my stock wheels, so the RPF1s will be coming in the near future which should a little bit with acceleration and overall feel.

Everyone is going to Doc's today for fluid changes and to look at why the clutch pedal sensor isn't working.

As for the 8 downtown. I invited the owner a couple times to join us but I think he really doesn't want to get in the cliche car club kinda thing. *shrug*
