Well.. there is not problem with racing beat. Even before the gutted cat I thought it was pretty tame.
The gutted cat sounds pretty good minus the rattling that I just haven't fixed yet. Jon heard it before the rattle showed up and, while its not as good as say a mazsport midpipe, I would say its not too raspy and gives a nice midrange grunt under power and doesn't drone at while cruising.
The rattle you hear is the heat shield which is my fault.![Banghead](https://www.rx8club.com/images/smilies/banghead.gif)
Even with my stock cat, the RB just isn't the deep sound I'm looking for. Its an improvement over stock, yes, but I feel its too tame, and don't want to have to wind my car up above 6k to enjoy my exhaust note. Don't get me wrong, I still do that, but staying above 6k poses a problem for speeding tickets and poor MPG.

I'm just getting sort of a feel for what is out there... I think the place for me to start is getting a proper midpipe and then moving on from there. Honestly, I'd like to hear the exoticspeed, but the fact that the entire tip is blue is sort of a turn off... that is too flashy, even for the most tacky car in the club.

You guys also have to consider how people on this forum are....
MOST people haven't swapped out for multiple mid-pipes and cat-backs to say, "This one was the best".
And many have never heard these exhaust (mid and cat-bat) in person and only go off of shitty videos from YouTube.
And some say, "This one is the best" only to justify them spending the money on a certain brand.
Bottom line... take into consideration that most don't know what all these pipes sound like to give you an honest opinion.

He did say Akron/Canton and it is the CLEVELAND auto show. vb ![Wink](https://www.rx8club.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Danc/jem I invited you guys to the regional 'social group' on this site that has info on where we're meeting for the auto show. We just use that whenever we post up meet info (and meet pics) since it's kinda useless for anything else.
We've been kinda staying around South Cleveland/North Akron with spots like Brecksville, Macedonia, etc. for meets but aside from some get togethers to work on a car we haven't done too many meets in the Winter. It'll pick back up next month.

On this note though, Massillon typically has a large autoshow starting off their summer saturday night concerts. Its a larger show. Last year someone had a VR 8, but that was before I was really active in the club. Could be cool to have a bunch of 8s lined up... but I also realize that this has the potential to be really boring and stupid.

i'll drive anywhere there's something going on. no worries there!
I'd be joining you guys at the autoshow but heather's grandfather is dying. He's 87. Sunday he made the decision to stop his dialysis. He's been given anywhere from 3 days to 2 weeks to live... depending on how fast the toxins build in his system. He's had a pretty damn good life and has dodged several life-threatening bullets already (liver cancer, 1 kidney failure, a stroke, a heart attack which resulted in a bypss and 3 other things i can't remember off top of my head). So this weekend is going to be family time.
Take lots of pics for me!

Its a great airport also... where else can you arrive 25 minutes before your flight and get to your gate with 20 minutes to spare?
John - You said you were there when Brian installed his midpipe... how did it sound compared to some of the other aftermarket systems locally? If you have time, could you type up a 2 page, single spaced analysis comparing and contrasting local exhaust notes?
Moontower......

does this help at all. "Party at the moontower"..."Love them highschool girls... I keep getting older, but they just stay the same age"?

It's a tiny bit raspy at 4k, but other then that it's only marginally louder over the stock cat. No dorning either on the freeway at cruising speeds (65 - 75 mph)
Of course by comparison, I have been told by a few 8 owners that my stock exhaust was louder then their stock exhaust (last year at LimeRock). So only slightly louder for me may be even louder for some other people. Put it this way, if I have my radio volume set on 7 with the windows up, I still can't hear the exhaust, even at WOT.

/sigh... you know better.
Thanks for the well wishes. It's harder on them than i expected. this is the first real "death in the family" they've had to deal with. Sure, great grandparents are gone but everyone younger is still around. Seems for me, i've lost someone about every 2 - 3 years since i was 10. Not that it's a "routine" o get used to but this is really their first. Heck, 2007, i had 9 funerals to go to... 5 of which were family, 3 friends and one was my best friend's youngest son who was no more than 11 hours old. 2007 was a rough year.
Anywho, enough of that. Get pics this weekend!
Steve, how goes the window tint endeavor?

I got distracted and purchased some furniture instead. Still in the works though... but I'm trying to put more money toward purchasing a better suited daily driver than continuing to put money into the 8 and be forced to drive it next winter.
Honestly, it does fine as a winter car... but I don't like it as a winter car. The cold weather makes the everything squeak and rattle (most go away above 35 degrees) I'm always worried about warming up the car fully so I don't blow one of my apex seals or something stupid like that. Not to mention playing dodge'ems with the large chunks of ice that fall off trucks and would destroy my front lip....
But that's not to say I don't always have some project going in my head: tint is on the list of things to do, but for what you get and the price, its not high on the enjoyment vs cost ratio. Loud midpipes on the other hand. . .
