If only it wasn't yellow.....

http://cleveland.craigslist.org/cto/1108893270.html

Where the heck has the owner of this car been?? I've never seen it around and if it is as heavily modified as it says you would think he'd be a member of the forum. A scam maybe.??

P.S. I just got back from a trip down to a well respected transmission rebuild shop with a stop at Summit along the way to pick up the fluids for my diff and trans. It was really interesting to hear the distaste that the transmission people have for Royal Purple fluids. I'm glad I chose Redline. Now only if it wasn't 30 degrees and snowing....

$7K for supercharger and full body kit. ROFL! You can't get either half for that price. We should call him up and schedule a meeting to check out the car. :P

11,500 for a car with 11k miles... interesting.

Anyway, I have heard and read that the royal purple doesn't sit well with many transmissions. So good call on the redline.

During one conversation with Ray we discussed different oils in the transmission.
He agrees that RP isn't the best for our synchros (I think he referred to the oil as "clingy"!
But he mentioned that they are performing test on various oil brands and said that even the "off-the-shelf" oil is fine to use and that people are over-complicating the oil debate.

You guys looking for cars, do a serious auto search.

I bought the red 8 from Cincinnati. It doesn't cost much to transport a car. And a lot of us will be traveling around the state for races, HPDE and AX. So it won't be hard to go see a car.

I can help you arrange transport. It's really easy. (Good to know somebody who ships all day, huh.) Now buy a freakin toothbrush, I've got autocrosses to pay for..............

I got a hell of a deal on my car. Heres a real good tip, watch auto-trader for a few months and wait for a car that wont sell, and you see the price drop a few times. Then head into the dealership and bend them over the table. I suggest wearing something professional looking

You dont have to walk in with a tux but wearing something that says "I have money" is like sex to an auto salesman, He will be willing to do your bidding after.

If you want some help looking for a car or dealing with ******* auto salesmen let me know, im always willing to be an *******. By the way welcome to the club everyone!

Brilliant black (black on black interior) tinted out, im often in kent mayfield and geauga

WOW. That's a lot of testosterone induced chest thumping. Gotta tell you as "Dad" of this group. If some snot nosed 17 yr old comes up to me and acts like an *******, I don't care how he's dressed, he's just an *******. That's not going to make me treat him any better. In fact, it might make me treat him worse!

Ever hear the saying "You get more flies with honey than with vinegar?" (Just in case you want some flies.)

Treat people nice. They are working a job just like you and I. Treat people the way you want to be treated. And if they don't give you respect, walk away. You can't control how they act, but you CAN control how you act.

That's because that's the old model. They've come out with a newer model that downloads speed trap and speed camera data off the internet.

That's a good detector though. I have that one.

Ironically the saying, "You get more flies with honey than with vinegar" is a lie, vinegar works better believe it or not.

I have to disagree, good cop bad cop works WAY more than it should. It likewise works in a sales situation, you just have to make sure that the ******* is an alpha over the sales person, otherwise you will fail BAD. Also it is possible to control how people act, it's essentially a matter of discovering what buttons to push.

You're talking out of context Danc. Do you really think a 35 yr old salesman is going to be intimidated by a 17 yr old in a suit? Sorry. NO!

Come in, act mature, and polite and you'll get farther than being an AH. Bring knowledge, not an attitude.

Buying and sales is different than being a cop. And frankly don't try and impress me by being a cop. My dad was a cop and I'm an ex cop. You aren't going to impress me with that either. I've been around cops my entire life. Intimidation works because bad guys are scared. I'm not scared. So save your attitude for the street. Cut the crap. I've seen the "show".

This is simple. You have a car for sale. You have a seller who wants to make the most he can. You have a buyer who wants to pay the least he can. Now you are looking to find an agreeable compromise. Being knowledgeable is going to get you much farther than being nasty. Period.

Police work is about intimidation and control. Sales is not. So don't confuse the two.

I get people come in all day long and try and intimidate me. I'm old enough and been around long enough that the couple dollars you're offering me is not going to impress me. Oh, and I serve people who have more money than all of us put together. You know what. They're all nice. They don't have to impress you. The richest people I know are nice as can be. And they treat me with respect. It's the "wannabe's" that try to impress.

Newbies. You can take whatever advice you want. I'd take the old guy's.

You newbies who are joining who want to thump your chest and impress us would do better to just be polite and learn. I'm not impressed by your talk. If you think you're too cool, bring it to an autocross or the track and show it! Otherwise, sit back, shut up and hold on.

Actually, this would make me more inclined to try to screw him over. I'd test to see where his level of knowledge was... build up his ego with "Man, you really know your stuff!" Make the guy feel like he's really kicking my ***, and then charge $3,000 to waterseal the fake wood on the dash!

That's not true... I'm impressed. But I've also never been to an autocross event - if I did go, then I wouldn't be able to talk as much ****. So, I really would have nothing to gain.

Just kidding, I know I'll go to an event this year and take a ride if someone is willing to add 200lbs to their car for a run. Then I'll decide if I want to bring ol' "rusty bolts" to the track.

TRADEMARK!!!! - I remember you saying once how you have a buddy, or something of the like that has a lift?? Well, I've got an exhaust install coming up with probably a header install later this summer coupled with changing out the lower intake manifold (requires raising the engine a few inches in the car with a hoist) See what I'm trying to get at here.

I'll make sure my knee will sometimes knock us out of gear and ask "are we there yet?" at every turn. Then of course throw-up halfway through the run.

You know I'll take you. AutoX or a funday. Just balances out the car anyway.

Besides I've always seen racing as something that only kids should do but because it's so expensive only adults who want to act like kids get to do.

Just make sure you can get your hands on a helmet.

What the hell did you do to your lower intake manifold? I hope the story ends with, "...finally I heard the screams and turned off the plasma torch."

Thanks - I would enjoy that - Both the funday and an auto-X. I really don't know if I'm an aggressive enough driver for either. Normally I drive for economy. I get more excited about higher MPG than I do about my time to destination. But still worth a good hard look. I need a new hobby after tearing up my ankle last week at hockey.

Well, Jon sent me a link where there was a used manifold with SSV for sale. I'm betting mine still has a bunch of carbonized oil-crud in it, so why not replace it? Plus I got a good deal on the one I bought. No, I haven't broke out of the torch in awhile.

LOL!! Oh man, thanks for that! I just belted out an incredibly loud laugh in front of a couple of doctors that gave me some awfully weird looks.

When is the first event, Doc? I didn't see any update for this years SCCA schedule on the web.

I'm always willing to take passengers. That's why I bought the RX8 with the leather seats -it's easier to clean up after them when they urinate themselves.

Blackberry has an app you can download for free which tells you all kinds of goodies regarding traffic cams, speed cams, redlight cams, police trap locations, etc.

it's a beautiful thing... and free.
