That would be cool. The problem I'm finding is people don't know the difference between weather stations, traffic control cameras and speed cameras. So the darn things have too many false warnings. Just the nature of the beast.

June 7 PE #4
June 20 PE #5
June 21 Car Show/Cookout

I'm scheduled to work on all the Sundays that are listed for ANY autox through the last week of May! I might have to try and swap a day with my coworkers or something. Man, I knew this summer was gonna stink. Damn pursuit of a higher education......

I'd be willing to give NORA a try again this year. Hopefully things have changed since I ran with them a couple of years ago.

I'm doing Mid Ohio HPDE with NASA this Saturday at MidOhio.
I think you'll like the new NORA format Tony. But the comments you had probably haven't changed.
I might be interested in doing the Nelson Ledge on May 9. That's a Saturday. Is that right?

You're talking out of context Danc. Do you really think a 35 yr old salesman is going to be intimidated by a 17 yr old in a suit? Sorry. NO!
Come in, act mature, and polite and you'll get farther than being an AH. Bring knowledge, not an attitude.
Buying and sales is different than being a cop. And frankly don't try and impress me by being a cop. My dad was a cop and I'm an ex cop. You aren't going to impress me with that either. I've been around cops my entire life. Intimidation works because bad guys are scared. I'm not scared. So save your attitude for the street. Cut the crap. I've seen the "show".
This is simple. You have a car for sale. You have a seller who wants to make the most he can. You have a buyer who wants to pay the least he can. Now you are looking to find an agreeable compromise. Being knowledgeable is going to get you much farther than being nasty. Period.
Police work is about intimidation and control. Sales is not. So don't confuse the two.
I get people come in all day long and try and intimidate me. I'm old enough and been around long enough that the couple dollars you're offering me is not going to impress me. Oh, and I serve people who have more money than all of us put together. You know what. They're all nice. They don't have to impress you. The richest people I know are nice as can be. And they treat me with respect. It's the "wannabe's" that try to impress.
Newbies. You can take whatever advice you want. I'd take the old guy's.
You newbies who are joining who want to thump your chest and impress us would do better to just be polite and learn. I'm not impressed by your talk.
If you think you're too cool, bring it to an autocross or the track and show it! Otherwise, sit back, shut up and hold on.

Remember Doc, there is a big difference which works for a younger guy over an older one. People expect certain and different things based on age.

I'm not sure what you mean by "the comments you had".

It's all good, though, and I'd probably give it another chance if I had the day off to attend.

An AH at any age is an AH! You will never convince me that you need to be an ******* to get a deal. I don't care how old you are. And that was the point.
That said, lets drop it.

Yeah, it's a saturday. I hope you can make it.
I'm not sure what you mean by "the comments you had".
I'd like to make it clear that I share no ill feelings towards the group, but I was bitter over something that happened at an event years back. I'm not going to get into it again because I know there's a lot of NORA supporters here who would probably take it the wrong way and get upset.

I know what the issues were with you about NORA. That's why I phrased it that way. We've discussed it in the past.

As far as Nelson's is concerned, if you can drive on the freeway you can drive at Nelson's Fundays. Just take into mind the phrase that was repeated over and over on the speaker system after a Buick Grand National went over the tire wall on a turn right in front of me: "Please don't overdrive your car......"

"Hang on, hang on! Everyone just be quiet! I'll handle this........What seems to be the officer, problem?" -an intoxicated Randy Marsh, SouthPark
Just another one of my favorite SouthPark quotes.
And another:
"Okay, we'll just go ahead and deposit that hundred dollars into an investment checking account with stock options annnnnd it's gone. Now please step aside. This line is for customers of the bank that actually have money" -SouthPark banker to Stan Marsh

It's one thing to get on a course and drive around it without busting up your car. It's another to drive the course on good lines and to begin to understand what makes a car really go fast on a track.

Doc I'm sure you'll do fine at the HPDE and be ready to go for a funday. Just make sure you're there plenty early. BTW - what tires are you planning on using?

Nelson sets it up so that you have an instructor with you at least for the first session if your a noob to that track, so you'll be fine even if you have no Mid-Ohio experience. Heck, I didn't have any track experience before I started going there, and, as a self proclaimed 'tard, I did just fine.
The driving sessions are split up into three groups: one group for the noobs, one group for the 'I've done this a few times and I know what I'm doing' people, and another for the 'get the hell outta the way I'm a pro' people.
Don't let the track intimidate you. We want you out there.

My only important advice for this weekend is to get there plenty early, relax, listen to your instructor, and don't forget to go to class after your session. The first session in the beginners group is going to be agonizingly slow with tons of traffic but you may be so excited about being on the track you won't notice.
I can post a quick 'check list' too if you want more tips but it's really not that different in prep for a novice HPDE day then how you prep for an AutoX day.

So did anyone call/email the guy selling the 'Supercharged' RX8? I love that he said it has boost gauges but in the pics they're nowhere to be found...
But seriously someone needs to go and check it out.

I doubt you'll need things like brake fluid, pads, or rotors but if you have spare pads and fluid I'd say bring them. I really doubt you'll push any of those components hard enough but it's hard to get home w/o them.

Pretty sure all the NASA classes (except for the first one) occur after your session which is really annoying because you get off the track and want to check out your car but you have to get to the session to get a 'ticket' proving you went that you give to the starting grid manager before you're allowed back on the track. So put your car in car, pop the hood, check your tire pressure (if you're tracking it), and then go to class.

Ok. I pm'd you. Most of it is close to what you'd use for AutoX. NASA doesn't supply you numbers/letters but still requires that you include the group you're in (HPDE4/HPDE3/etc.) so you'll probably need to use tape even if your magnets, which seem pretty good, are strong enough to handle track speeds. Most other groups give you vinyl stickers for your windshield but NASA is cheap. My magnets failed me the first time down so I just used duct tape.

Ryan, if you could forward to me the same info you pm'd Doc, that would be great.
