I find it utterly hilarious that Ohio is now in the North East. I think Chicago was just getting a little antzy that we were gonna have more posts then them. Oh well.

I hear they are redesigning the Camaro next year, is that the one you are talking about?
I think GM will be OK. Too much good stuff to let go. Gov't made the choice to let Chrysler go. They're gonna support GM

I'm starting to look for a new pickup truck. Will need a new one in the next year or two. I tried to get Jon to win me a new F150 Raptor, but he went to the Bahamas instead. Wouldn't take Steve or I either. Taking, huh, his wife.............go figure.
Thinking a Chevy Colorado. Don't need full size. I have an S10. Size is good, but not the best truck ever.......

Beyond that I don't think there's a huge difference between each US truck line. I'd vote for a Ford under 5 years old or a Chevy or GMC if you go farther back.

I am in the same boat... I have been putting off buying a better winter vehicle - truck - for months... somehow the money just keeps going right back into the 8.
But... Doc, with you little ones getting larger, you need a larger extended cab. Too bad, my company just sold an 03 GMC Yukon XL, could have got ya a deal.![Smilie](https://www.rx8club.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I'm looking at the Truck based SUVs. I want to be able to pull the car someday with it... I don't know the towing specs, but and old K5 blazer or a Bronco fullsize or something. Idk though. I haven't driven either.

My S10 had the extended cab. They come that way in the Colordo also. Just lose the payload room and towing capacity in exchange for the smaller size.
Also hard to get the bigger trucks in a garage.

Danc... I may have found your AEM intake from fluid... or should I say, K&N intake from fluid...
https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...36#post2969736
Cliffs notes is - K&N bought AEM. K&N stopped production of all intakes... RX8 intake is currently sold out with no more being produced... so, if fluid doesn't have your intake shipped yet, you may want to start asking for refund.

This sound like a great time for me to announce (Seriously): For Sale Used AEM Intake. Came on my '04. I took it off to go back to stock for AX. All parts are there (as far as I know). Danc, if you want it let me know. Otherwise I'm gonna list it on the for sale forum. (Anybody know what this is worth?)

I also have a stock airbox and intake, missing a couple parts, if anyone needs parts. It's missing the box clamps.

someone say they are looking for a beater? actually considering selling the truck. but not sure if it's what you're wanting. it's a `92 that just flipped 115k. It's got a strong engine but something is making a noise in the front. i thought it was either the tie rods or the cv joints. took it to a shop and they couldn't find what was causing the noise and couldnt reproduce it. i took it out with them and couldnt either. drove it all weekend and nothing. today however it started again briefly but stopped. will be listing it for 1500 on craig's list but will go $1k for someone from here.
it's a (mostly) red Ford Ranger 4x4
5-spd manual
bedliner is in good condition. isn't torn or have holes anywhere.
doesn't leak or burn any fluids and the tread on the tires are probably still 75% left to go. has an aggressive tread to it too. will take pics and post when i get home. pm if interested. Been a good winter vehicle but with the kid coming, wife wants to get something a little more... family-friendly. The RX8 is not and her civic will become my winter car once we establish the new "family friendly" vehicle.

Finally got my airbox open tonight. There is NO WAY that you can open that airbox without taking off that rear hose. I have no idea what these people around here were thinking when they said that you could. Got the baffle walls out and I didn't notice any change in pitch or volume to the car. However, the change in throttle response is exactly what the doctor ordered. I always thought it was the computer trying to make sure that the tires didn't break loose and didn't expect it to actually fix it that much.

Didn't know you wanted to modify the OEM airbox John.
Did you also remove the vacuum line for the VFAD to keep the valve open at all times?
This is what people do to get a "better" sound.
There is a resonance chamber on the accordion tube that can also be removed, but I forget what was used to plug the hole.
Most people don't do this because they don't realize its a resonance chamber (or even know what it does).
I found a post that made me laugh:
I would probably just use a PVC plug or slip cap and tighten with a hose clamp.

I did not lock the VFAD open. I will need to read up on that one some more before i do it because if I remember correctly it hurts throttle response on the low end which is what I wanted to increase. The resonance chamber I did recognize because of how much it gets in the way when you are messing with the accordion tube. However I really don't like the "Jam a pill bottle cap in there and you'll be fine." I know on my Stealth the hole was pretty big, ours looks smaller...maybe a PvC plug will fit.
