I won't be free until next weekend.
How it works.... you show up, I cut
You did get a template with your gauge pod, right?
If you want to make it quick and easy, you can already have that upper center panel off when you arrive.

Yes...he has the template. He wanted me to do it in the dark the other night. He also bought the adhesive pod so you need to make a small hole. :P

hey would you guys know what this is, my car did something strange today, after i drove home from work i shut the car off like normal and took the key out but the fans were still running like real loud and so i got back in and turned the car on and they shut off, so i turned it off again and they were still running but kinda quiet. so i opened my hood and as i took the cover off they shut off. dont know if it was just the pcm doin something but thought it was weird.

you guys ever have this happen?

That is normal for your car. Your fans will run for up to I believe it is 5 minutes if the engine is "too hot". I however have only ever had them come on when the engine was warm and I had run the AC sometime during the drive. Let the fans run to cool off your engine.

Saturday would be best for me TJ.
And John is right. Let the fans run when you shut the car off.
Perfectly normal.

TJ - When you get your cat replaced, keep the midpipe or take pictures, I want to see this hole. Glad it worked out okay for you and you got your warranty.

Still in China until the end of the week. I bet dollars to Yuan that my car won't start when I get back because it always floods when I leave it for over 7 days.

Good to hear from you Steve.
When you get back and settled-in let me know and we'll get these tires swapped.
I've toned-down the donuts in the parking lots so you can still sell them!

Can you just replace the seal or is it more involved than that?

It could be potentially more involved then that, especially since he heard a "clunk"

If the seal went it would cause the bearings to go (if not caught soon enough)

If the bearings go either the internals come to a screeching halt and freeze up or there starts to be a lot of shaft play. The shaft will start pivioting on the wrong axis causing the compressor and turbine fins to hit the housings. This will wear down the fins and mess up the housings and destroy the bearings.

THe best thing to do is send it out to a pro and have them gut it and replace what needs replaced, or pony up a couple extra hundred dollars and get a brand new one (preferably a Garrett) New one would be more cost effective considering by the time you pay to ship it out, have it rebuilt, then ship it back you are almost at the cost of a brand new turbo.

Danc, I don't know if the current turbo is water cooled or not, but it is definately something you are going to want to do on the next turbo, especially with how hot our engines run. Get a dual ball bearing water cooled turbo from Garrett. You may pay a little more now for it, but you will be glad you did.

Thanks for the info Brian.
With the oil not only lubricating, but also cooling the bearing, this could lead to failure if not inspected.
Yeah... probably would be better to upgrade like you suggested.

That's what BNR does with their upgrade from what I understand.

I'm going to post a set of wheels and tires if anyone is interested.

Tires:
The Tech M500 is the Ultra High Performance Summer tire member of AVON Tyres' family of Tech performance tires. The attractively priced Tech M500 is designed to bestow confidence to the drivers of sports cars, sports coupes and performance sedans by providing traction, handling and control in dry and wet road conditions. Like all summer tires, the Tech M500 is not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

Torque 5
The Torque 5 has become an instant classic in the minds of tuners nation wide. Falken Tire introduced this wheel in 2003 and it has been a hit since then. This wheel has a split spoke five star design, and it comes in silver, gunmetal, and a full chrome finish. Like the Circuit Spec, the Torque 5 has a machined lip that has the name Falken engraved into it. This wheel has proven to be the first crossover wheel in our lineup. Both import and domestic fans have approved of the styling and are stocking up this classic design. The sizes of the Torque 5 range from 17 inches up and through 19 inch applications.

it's a cleveland team... dicktease, that's all they know how to do. never any follow through... no happy endings... just get your hopes up and then leave you there blue and frustrated.

Cavs are transforming into the same old cliche cleveland sports team. really upsetting.

Anyway, I think I might have a compression problem. I drove it a bit harder yesterday, and I lose all power if I go above ~9.5k rpm. I only noticed it in first and second gear. No CEL's or anything though. It just kind of cuts out on me and kicks back in under the redline.
