Heh, I bought the car from cascade and they told me all of the updates were done.
I only went to park since I stayed at my brothers place thats about 2 minutes away the night before for a card game.
I got kind of a bad taste in my mouth after the whole deal from them, but I may go just to see what they say.

I am very surprised you had issues with Akron Park. I've dealt with them for over 10 years now and never had a single issue with them, their service or knowledge.

i dont trust cascade one bit. when i first looked into buying an 8, i went to them on based on several recommendations. Every person i spoke with, either phone or in person just didn't seem to know anything more than, "I needz to sellz carz. You buyz carz? Datz guud carz. you buyz?" Their knowledge was on the level of sweaty underwear lint you wipe from your *** after a long day of being outside doing various activities in 90 degree weather with 80% humidity. Talked with one of their techs about an 8 they had on a the lot to see if they knew anymore than the "salez peoplez" abd he looked at me like a deer in headlights on ver half the questions i asked about the 8.

Interesting to hear about people's difference of opinion in dealers. I just had a new room mate move in and she is looking at little economy cars (think corrolla and sentra at the top of her list)
I told her to at least drive a mazda 3.
Brandon - could you recommend a sales person that you worked with? I was going to take her up to cascade, but if park is okay, then I'll just head up there.
Anyway, I am thinking about popping my autocross cherry this weekend. I guess there is an event saturday and sunday in Northfield park.
Doc + Brian or any other racers have any thoughts on making this my first event?

I know park Akron isn't a "speed" dealership and I would be surprised if they had any new 8s on the lot.

John, does your "part out" contact happen to have all of the engine plastics available? Would also like a DSC switch as well.

I bought my 8 from Abe at cascade (who actually does mostly subaru). Dont expect to find many cheap cars there, though.
I worked with Kevin at Park for the 6. He is actually a used car guy, but he shot the **** with me while waiting for my oil change so we went through him to get the 6. Should be taking delivery today.
Park is definitely a better dealer then Cascade.
Park is also a mazdaspeed dealer, though I think the only 8 on the lot is a red R3.

And I will also note that from a buyers standpoint, the people I talked with at cascade were fairly decent with the 8. I mostly had issues dealing with their finance manager and used car manager negotiating price.

I'd be happy to ride with you and walk the course with you if you'd like.
Plus, you'd get 2 days in one weekend.

Also, does anyone want a good deal on a Sirius radio? I don't think it would be good in the 8, but I'll be pulling mine out of the car here shortly. Tighten down the ol' budget, you know?

Just a reminder...Next weekend (June 12 and 13) is the GrandAm experience party at Montrose Mazda in Brookpark. Marlon has worked with the guys over there and basically we are going to park in the Walmart parking lot. Just a meet and greet for potential customers...hangin with some of the GrandAm teams...and serving food and beer. Marlon asked that people arrive around 8:30 PM on Fri and Sat for the event. This is our chance to give something back to the race teams that give us great access and time at MidOhio and wonderful gifts for events like the Cruise for Cops. It would be nice if we can come out and show our support in mass.

Im going both nights to help Marlon out. He said over there that they might need help for signage, directing traffic, advertising and possibly rides (no details on that).

In the dealership discussions don't combine service departments with sale departments. Frankly there is no such thing as a good RX8 sales department. I had a lot of fun on testdrives when I was SUV shopping talking with random salespeople about RX8s. They were almost 100% wrong about everything.
Anyway you should know more about the car you're buying then then salesperson - especially if it's an oddball like our 8s. The only thing you should be looking for from a sales department is financing knowledge, used car buyout pricing, and whether or not they're prepared to screw you over at the first opportunity.
I've heard that Park has good sales people and a bad service dept. I've heard I've heard Bedord has good service department as long as you haven't done any aftermarket mods. And I've heard that Cascade and Westside both have decent service departments who are more tolerant of mods.
That being said I know someone (ShinkaRex?) had issues with the Cascade service department and I can attest to Westside trying to charge me a lot to fix my self-induced vacuum leak which involved putting a cap on the open valve.
So obviously everyplace has it's warts but I still think it's a good idea to go to any dealership that has RX8s if you're shopping for them. And don't get too caught up with sales pitches or 'slights' that they might give ya.

I had a great sales person over at Mazda of Bedford...I am sure he would love to talk to her Steve. We can run up there this weekend if you want...it is around the corner from Northfield.
