Now, it's doesn't say they aren't covered, but it also doesn't say they are..

This seems to be one of those grey areas.. I better just call....
They gotta be covered. Engine mounts always get replaced when people have their engines replaced, aren't they? The problem is that they have to examine it to make sure it needs it so they can say no if it isn't broke-ed.

But yeah calling never hurts.

Is Ted on here? He owns a silver 8 and was at Lime Rock Park. He had a Go Video cam on his trunk facing back and I was behind him on the track. Looking for the vid.

Ted is a member of the site but I don't know if he is with the Columbus locals or not. I will hit him up over on the 6Club Josh and have him get in contact with you.

Yep...i'm on here sometimes. I've got some bad news about the video however. I accidently erased it. I was transfering the files and got it mixed up with the others I took at the track last weekend. If it's any consolation, it wasn't that long anyway. Sorry.

Why hello Ted.

Hey...anyone free the next couple days to help me try and figure out how to take off the front bumper and install some screens?

I won't be available until Friday (afternoon) and should be free this weekend.
Front bumper is easy to remove... I can probably do it now with my eye's closed!

hey guys, looks like i missed a lot in that one day i didnt log on. i was wondering, while we were on topic, if any actual problems can arise from having bad motor mounts. never heard it being the cause of anything serious but wanted to know.

and does replacing the side markers require removing the front bumper? i just ordered a set of blacked out sides with bulbs and needed to know for the install.

You're car shaking at idle is when its really noticeable.
Remember, those mounts are the only thing that attaches the motor to the frame.
So yes, it can be a problem and should be replaced.

Your car shaking could be other issues too like bad plugs, wires, and coils.
The passenger-side motor mount is prone to failure because of the heat from the exhaust manifold.
You can inspect it and see if its cracked.

No...just 2 screw clips, one bolt and a clip per side. Your small *** hands will help...but be prepared to leave some more blood on your car. First side should take you about 45 minutes second side is like 5.

I saw jons post about drilling. is that the best option?

If you're still under warranty then bring it in and they'll replace the gaskets. It will fix it and for some people it stayed fixed. However I had it done and after a year I got condensation again.

If you're out of warranty then drilling is the best option.

Really, you can have both sides down in 30 minutes... the hardest part when i took mine off to remove the reflector was.... removing the reflector! I replaced the bulbs in mine in under 10 minutes.

Its the best option if:
a) You're out of warranty.
b) Lazy and don't feel like messing with the dealer (like me).
c) Dealer has replaced your gasket numerous times without success and you are frustrated with the reoccurring problem.
Just saw a post last week where someone had his done 3 times without success!

Thanks for the help Jon...really appreciate it. I probably could have gotten through it eventually but it would have taken me hours. Hope you enjoyed your payment more than a case of beer.
