Eh, nevermind... saw some pics of them on a black 8. . . not very good. Plus I was thinking a better brand name could be lighter... 6 tires with the purchase isn't bad though... I just don't like them that much.
Doc... getting struck in the bawls isn't funny.

hey guys, havent been on in a while, i know jon's not gonna ger this right away but congrats on getting the place you wanted.
so i've been around every lot at Toledo so far on campus and out 25,000 kids. there is one RX-8. its red and automatic
i wish mine was up here so bad.
but anyway i thought you guys would be interested in this, im joining this group called FSAE on campus and its for automotive engineers and each year they build a car to race in competitions in california against a hundred schools or so. i had a chat with some people in it and if everything goes well we may try to use a rotary engine in the car. and from what i heard, idk if this is true but it could be one of the first applications of a rotary engine in the competition
hah i told em to contact mazda and let us try out a prototype 16X to put in it, most likely wont happen, but you never know.

Heh, that's kinda tricky considering there are a few other things that come into play. like so:
Damper Settings: (15 being stiff 1 being soft)
Front: 8 clicks out of 15
Rear: 6 clicks out of 15
Sway bars:
Front: Medium stiff
Rear: Full stiff
Tire pressures:
Front: 32psi
Rear: 29-30psi
We'll hold 32psi on the front and depending on the course we may or may not let the rears come up to 32psi.
But.... We have never ran over 32psi...
But all that being said, I would have to say 32 is probably going to be a good pressure for you to run them at. We have never had any sidewall rollover at those pressures even though they kinda seem low.

The Rotary engine is too big and heavy for an FSAE car. That's why most of them use motorcycle engines because they are small.
Plus it will be too hard to build a chassis to get a rotary engine and a transmission as the thing would be huge (and probably out of the restrictions for FSAE size, and more than likely would be bordering an A Mod), plus I'm pretty sure there are engine restrictions on what you can and can't use..... You would have to find a way to traverse mount a single rotor engine with a tiny *** transmission, it's a pipe dream at best. FSAE cars are small, and I mean small small... Like, smaller then a 13b with the transmission attached. Hell, smaller then an RX-8 transmission alone, or roughly the same size...
Oh, and have fun with the FSAE, they break, A LOT..... :P

i know the majority use motorcycle engines but there aren't restrictions on rotaries. maybe only by engine size could it be restricted because i know it would be close but idk enough about how big the engine/tranny are for an RX-8 so i couldnt tell ya if it'd fit, you'd know that.
hah and how do you know so much about this brian?
havent heard anything about them breaking, but i doubt thats one of the things they'd tell me to get me to join lol.

TJ,
They are popular amongst college teams at autocrosses. FSAE's are known to break down a lot. They either don't start, have trouble staying running, or parts literally fall off of them. One event we had an freakin wheel came flying off the rear.
This past Sunday out in Toledo I believe it was one of the Michigan teams that was having problems with their car out on course all day.

HELP - Need Measurements
I am doing some setup on my car and need to know what a STOCK suspension RX8 ride height is. I lost the paper that I had measurements on before the shop did my work.
Thanks!
- Can ANYONE take a tape measure and measure from: the ground to the highest point in the fender curve of your RX8?
- PLEASE also tell me what tire size and brand is on the car that you take this measurement from?
- In addition, I would love to hear from others who have set up their RX8 for track or AX and let me know what your ride height is.
Thanks!

I have my ride height from stock somewhere around my garage. I can't tell you now because I'm slammed on stance GR+'s right now. I'll see if I can find the paper I wrote all the measurements down on. I can't make any gaurantees as it was months ago, but I'll take a look.
As for endlinks, I have the LEBREN endlinks on my car right now. At full short they are slightly shorter then stock, but you can remove the two nuts in the middle and shorten them even more. I had to do this to keep the progress rear sway bar from hitting my subframe because my car is so low, hehe
The endlinks have so far preformed flawlessly. I put them on last Saturday for an autocross out in Toledo on Sunday and they worked great. They are definately better then stock, as I managed to break the stock ball joints with the progress sway bars in a matter of 1 event... (yeas, I broke all four ball joints, and one of the rear ball joints actually became separated from the endlink)
There is a thread for his endlinks in the for sale section. Lemme go dig up a link.![Wink](https://www.rx8club.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)
EDIT: link for links -> https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-parts-sale-wanted-44/fs-beefy-rear-sway-bar-end-links-176417/

IlikeEsses: I would shoot Lebren a pm with your requirements for minimum and maximum length for the endlinks. He may be able to make you something up. He's great to deal with and his product is top notch.
John: Yeah, I got them, hehe. They are MUCH better then the stock junkers
Ryan: I straight up busted the stock ones. All it took was one event at Northfield and they were gone, less then a week later the drivers rear let loose completely and the ball joint came out of the endlink.
I used the allen key/wrench method to get them tight and loose.
As for the front bar, it sure was a bitch taking out all those plastic screws and **** for the undertray, but once I got that off and the lower radiator brackets the bar was a breeze to put in.
I put the RB front endlinks on when I did the rears this past Saturday (read broke all four endlinks at Northfield heh) and it was a piece of cake. The only downside to these are now if they ever go bad I can only replace them with RB endlinks because I had to drill out the bar and lower A-arm for the bigger bolts. No biggie though. They are much beefier then stock and you can definately tell a difference. I actually had to dial back the damper pressure on the front because the endlinks made it stiffer up there..

Very curious to hear how those and the strut bar improved the feel of the car.

The car is flat now. The sway bars actually made the car slightly more forgiving. We can really toss this bitch through turns now and get on the gas much sooner because of how well it is set up.
Ask John, I had a super uber awesome drift at Northfield on the 23rd. It was hella sweet.

Yeah, broke both fronts and the passenger side rear at the autocross on the 23rd. My afternoon runs were basically without 100% functioning sway bars, and I still managed to do pretty well.
When I left Northfield on Sunday the endlinks were clunking like nobodies business on those 3 corners. I'm assuming that the drivers rear was about to go after the event as well, because about 3 days later the ball joint popped out of the endlink.
So lesson learned everyone. Stiff suspension + stiff sway bars = broken stock endlinks

Nope.
Stock swaybars won't ruin stock endlinks. Hell, even with the the Progress bars and the D-spec/Tein combo on Ryan's car all he did was bend the rear endlinks slightly. That suspension setup isn't stiff enough to create enough force to break them.![Wink](https://www.rx8club.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)
You have to remember, my **** is stiff, and Jamie and I throw that car around like a $2 hooker. They were destined to bust, I just figured they'd last more then 2 days
