i loled when a woman got out.

At Brian's now. He had oil leaking from the OMP.
I ran a MAX OIL map from my AP that runs the OMP at maximum.
Air was definitely in the hard lines.
We are hoping its the copper gasket that seals the hard line fittings.
We removed the gasket and cleaned it along with what it seals against.
Once we ran the car again we saw oil slowly coming out from under the gasket.
We were going to buy a gasket from the dealer, but nobody had them in stock.
Nearest dealer that has this gasket in stock is in Texas.
He'll overnight it and install it tomorrow.
So hopefully the gasket takes care of it because an OMP is $1000 from Mazda.

Have you got a part number on the OMP, I can look it up at Mazdaspeed.

I have to place an order to fix the fender liner I tore you yesterday anyways.

Luckily if the gasket doesn't fix it, the OMP is covered under warranty.
So Brian will just have the dealer replace it.

Oh yea, mazda dealerships are totally cool with honoring warranties. Should be no problem what-so-ever. They won't somehow blame the metering pump on the Borla catback, they won't try to do that at all.
--------------------------
Speaking of which, for the "upgraded" starter. What year did mazda make the fix and start putting good started on the 8, in 2006?

Brian called Mazda and they told him it'll be covered under warranty.

is there a way to check the year of something from the VIN number that we can access from the internet?

Your car's year is the 8th character from the right (so my character is 4 since my car is an '04)

Hey guys.

I hate to drop a bomb on you, but I think I may be putting the 8 up for sale.

Things have changed a lot for me over the past year and my priorities need rearranged.

There's not much time left in my week for the 8 and making payments on a car that sits in my garage is not cutting it anymore. My Jeep may be on it's last leg and I need a reliable daily driver that I don't have to put any money into.

It kills me to even think about it, but I think it has to be done. I'm going to think it over for the next week or so, but I'm leaning more towards letting it go.

Doc thanks for the offer, but as Jon mentioned I called the dealership after he left and talked to Sandy up at Montrose (explained the problem) and she stated that it would be covered under warranty as well as if I have the car towed to the dealership (Mazda certified warranty will cover Mazda Roadside Assistance)

I'm hoping the car will be fixed with just gasket. If not it was just a $6 part. But, by the look on Jon's face when I had hopes of it just being the gasket, my premature joy was shot down with thoughts of potential failure.

Knowing my luck and the fact that I'm pretty sure Steve transfered the curse to my car, the front iron is probably cracked somehow. Either that or the o-ring on the back of the OMP is bad and I'll have to pay Mazda like 1 billion dollars to replace it

i feel like somehow you're trying to insinuate that I had something to do with this.

Hope its the gasket... or if not, that you get a new engine for free.

Brian...Sandy said the same BS to Amy when she needed the tow for the Thermostat. Ended up costing her $170 because of the distance. Mazda only covers like 50 miles or some ****.

John, the way Mazda Roadside Assistance works is they tow the car to the closest Mazda dealership in relation to the car. If you want it taken to a different dealership then you have to pay the difference in the cost of the tow.

Sandy had explained that to me on the phone

And Steve, I'm just busting your *****. But the way things are probably looking is that you will win STX this weekned if you run. Unless I can fix the car or find a car to run in STX. Actually, unless there is at least two entrants in STX, you'll get tossed into the bump class with other single car classes and run off index time.

Brian,

If you need to drive, you can use my car. Just promise not to beat me!

Oh, and pay for all the parts you break.

Jon,
I forgot to tell you. The needle nose pliers on the rear brakes worked great... Why don't we do that all the time? I didn't even use a clamp on the front brakes. I just used a larger set on channel locks and was able to push the piston back in with no problems.

Though I have to say. . . the hawk ceramics are not even noticeable compared to the Posi-Quiet pads. Its like I didn't even switch them, minus the occasional high pitch squeak and i'm sure I'll see less brake dust.

Ryan, were these your track pads also?

Mark,

Thank you for the offer. If the car does need to go to the dealership to get the OMP replaced I may take you up on it. I promise I'll try not to beat you.
