The rear has (4) 14 mm bolts and (2) 14mm nuts inside the trunk, and (1) 12mm bolt from underneath. That is what connects the top of the rear shock to the car.

The bottom is a 17mm bolt that attaches to the spindle, and the lower portion of the shock slips over a stud on the spindle.

Which of the bars of the 5 link you want to remove is up to you...

Personally if it were me, since you won't ever drive this car, loosen and remove the ecentric cam bolts for the camber adustments on the lower control arm and remove the sway bar end links from the lower control arm. It will give you a little more room, especially since you don't have to worry about putting the car back together and the alignment being waaaaayyyy off. Plus that will put you one step close to having the sway bar off.

I don't recall warping the gasket for the thermostat (assuming that's what you're referring to).
I do recall us bitching up the SSV gasket trying to align that bitch back in.
If you need a 2nd hand getting to the thermostat let me know.
And since it sounds like you'll be removing the thermostat, you shouldn't need to remove the upper housing (like when we swapped out your thermostat).
Just remove those three bolts and the whole housing should come out.
This way you won't need to bend that ACV hard pipe out of the way.

You know I won't turn down help... I don't know when i am going to get to it though... I don't really have a weekend free until after Halloween... So, while I can drive with the coolant leak, I'd prefer not to...

So the 8 is probably up for the winter... which is about right... sways and brake lines on.... driven on for 1 day... then stored for winter... excellent.

That's not excuse not to work on it soon though. Spring will be here before we know it.

I think so. The brakes and calipers though are different story and you would need bigger wheels to accomodate them.

Its all good. im available this fri-sat and sun. Mornings and afternoon. got stuff to do at night tho. so im good till about 5pm any of those days if you want help. and might get layed off again soon, so ill have a ton of time. this year sucks. last summer i was putting in 72 hrs a week. now im lucky if i get 32. haha. i could bring a drill too if needed. i have tons of big tools, mostly for semi stuff, and john deere restoration.

Yeah, I am still building my tool collection... I bought a used tool box full of goodies over the summer, but I'm lacking in power tools. . .

I normally work 7.30-4 or 5 depending on workload and what I find on youtube near the end of the day, so working during the days wouldn't work.

We'll work it out though.


Also, Doc, you mentioned this at the lizard on Sunday... any interest in sneaking one more meeting in before the snow falls?

In reference to the air compressor: 2.4 SCFM at 90 PSI.. I wouldn't get it. Most decent air tools require more than that. Plus it's a small tank and will literally be running all the time if you are working on cars a lot. It would be good for SMALL projects, like changing wheels or fillling up tires, or running a small nail gun for trim molding (like a finish nailer). I have a 33 gallon tank and I wish mine was bigger.


As far as the Mr. Clean.... I have one of those. They work pretty well actually.

Thanks John, but I'm good... if I really need air, I have some in the shop... I just don't like using air because with my habits, using air leads to a lot of broken bolts and rounded nuts... I like using the ratchets and breaker bar, though having air for cutting is nice.

I've got one too. The filter that comes with it runs out pretty quick but the refills last an entire summer. Works better than most hose attachments and seems to provide less streaking on the car.

Not sure you can't find it for less but you won't need it until the Spring anyway so might as well have fun enjoying the packages Smartpost™ journey.

Yeah... looking at the pictures was interesting how nearly everyone carried too much speed out of the slalom and missed the straight away right after it which would have made the whole run faster. . .

I can't believe I didn't see the line. That is one area where I think when I walk the course I can see it pretty well, my execution is the problem. In this case though, I think everyone missed it, except maybe you. I didn't see... I was too busy missing concrete polls.

Also, this pic is right after I narrowly missed that poll. The sign in the background is awesome.

Many of you have been down to the shop where I work and rent space. A new opportunity has presented itself for me to move into my own house that includes a very large (don't know square footage yet) out-building/workshop with heat, gas, and hot water. I would probably my "garage" to that building.

I'm curious if anyone would potentially be interested in storing their non winter vehicles there. You would have access to work on the cars through the winter and have some tools available to you as I'll build on the tools I already have. There is a possibility of getting a lift also, maybe in the spring.

The property is located in Massillon, so its a hike for some of you, but I figured I would throw that out there to see if there is any interest.
