btw...you had said that you were going to check and see if the SS was getting lubbed by the tranny fluid. My brief understanding was that you still needed to grease it as the tranny fluid will drip off while the grease will stay on when the car sits.
I'm lubing it up regardless but the tranny fluid has already helped smooth it a bit. He does put some oil on it (I noticed it when I grabbed the shifter out of the bag on Friday) just not enuff to be considered properly lubed.

I think that was just tranny fluid that transferred into the bag. But it did appear to be the wrong color...I could have sworn it was supposed to be red.

I'm not sure if I'll be going yet. I want to change the alignment specs on my car before the next Nelson's Funday (on the 27th) and I can have it done on the 21st for free.

I really would like to go down there, but I can't pass up a free alignment- especially one that's done to my specs. If things don't work out that way, where can I find the tickets needed to get in on Saturday?

Select the Weekend pass which includes a paddock pass. Costs a few dollars less than a day pass + paddock pass. You need the paddock to get in to the Mazdaspeed corral.

You'll probably have to call and get them via will-call or just get them at the door if you don't order this week. They FedEx the tix to you after an order. Takes a day or so.

If you're thinking that you won't know until the very last moment, you can still buy them online and pick them up at the will call. I did that last year and it was a pretty painless process.

Anyone thinking about going down on Friday?

I had the same service done at Medina Worldcars over the weekend and the cost was exactly the same (I had a coupon for a few dollars off but forgot it at home), but they had me in and out of there in under 30 minutes. And unlike Bedford Mazda they actually performed the tire rotation they charged me for. Yes - I'm actually paranoid enough now that I actually check . . .

It's the second time I've used them for routine maintenance, and I'm pretty satisfied so far. Maybe not a bad option for SW-sider's.

Hey... filling up my gas tank once a week is enough for me.
I'm not like SOME PEOPLE who live near work and don't need to worry about that

I wish I lived further away from work. Then I could open her up a little and my gas mileage would be much much better.

My wife and I both work downtown exactly two blocks from each other, but until recently rarely drove together despite a 46 mile round trip commute. We're now driving together most days, and while I like saving money its not doing much for marital bliss.

I offered to toss a blanket over her head like they do when they lead horses out of burning barns, but my little "co-pilot of love" didn't care for that suggestion.

In case some of you don't check the other MW threads. Marlon posted about an AutoX at Northfield on Sat. Might try and get the morning off of work to show up and hang with that gang.

Hey everyone.. just want to introduce myself.
I just picked up an 06 Black RX-8 manual.

I used to live in North Canton and still come down about 1-2 times a month and my Dad works in Akron. I'll check in quite a bit.. and if i see something worth making the trip down like renting a track for the day... i'll try to...

My garage currently consists of the RX-8 and an 03 Black Evo.
I would love to keep it, but i am living in Toronto now and can't afford the legal trouble of having an Evo in Canada since the 03s are not allowed to be registered in Canada. So the Evo is for sale...

Here are some pics..

and the evo alone

If any of you are interested in buying it.. or know anyone that is looking for one..
here is the link for the sale..

I would go nuts driving home with the wife/gf everyday.... Sanity has its price... and if it goes up with the price of gas.. so be it.

I find the commute the most relaxing part of the day... driving.. listening to the radio/music... driving.. and a lack of nagging.

Good luck and you are a better man than I if you are able to continue.

Nice upgrade from the Evo. You won't miss it that much...

Speaking of Black 8s I golf at Emerald Woods in Columbia Station. Parked next to this guy a bunch last year but this is the first time I saw him this year:

He's got a personalized license plate that would have been more apt on a 'Silver' car.

Upgrade in comforts and "features" but not in performance.... i'm not complaining yet.. it is like apples and oranges... it is one of the reasons i didn't look at a Subbie.. i didn't want to sit around every day and compare the two.

The biggest thing i miss is low-end power... and that hit your head on the back of the seat rush.

Too bad I don't have 20K.

My buddy has an Evo and I wouldn't mind having one myself. I wouldn't get rid of the 8, though. The Evo would be a supplement.

At least I wasn't the only one to ask that at first. Stupid Cheap iPhone camera. Either that or stupid cheap monitor at work because I can see a slight difference on my calibrated monitors at home.

We (I) was picking on his car (the color(s)) at the beginning of our meet at the Boneyard... that's where the joke originated from.
