As for the fix, I went with this one:
https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...late+relocator
I have the 2009 Grand Touring with the stock bumper, so I had to buy longer connectors than the kit provides in order to use the screws on the underbody, but it seems to be working pretty well, it cost less than $15.00, and I don't have the dreaded Bugs Bunny look.

Wow, I just assumed it would be a fix-it ticket. . . I guess I should put the front plate on the Bronco for sure.
My speed camera ticket in Cleveland was only 100 bucks... good thing they didn't photo the front too!
Just out of curiosity as to "how much" of the license plate had to be displayed... I looked up the Ohio revised code:
Looks like you may be able to get away with bending it slightly under because the front plate doesn't contain any information on the bottom I looked up the Ohio revised code:
Actual Law:
4503.21 Display of license plates and validation stickers or temporary license placard or windshield sticker.
(A) No person who is the owner or operator of a motor vehicle shall fail to display in plain view on the front and rear of the motor vehicle the distinctive number and registration mark, including any county identification sticker and any validation sticker issued under sections 4503.19 and 4503.191 of the Revised Code, furnished by the director of public safety, except that a manufacturer of motor vehicles or dealer therein, the holder of an in transit permit, and the owner or operator of a motorcycle, motorized bicycle, manufactured home, mobile home, trailer, or semitrailer shall display on the rear only. A motor vehicle that is issued two license plates shall display the validation sticker only on the rear license plate, except that a commercial tractor that does not receive an apportioned license plate under the international registration plan shall display the validation sticker on the front of the commercial tractor. An apportioned vehicle receiving an apportioned license plate under the international registration plan shall display the license plate only on the front of a commercial tractor and on the rear of all other vehicles. All license plates shall be securely fastened so as not to swing, and shall not be covered by any material that obstructs their visibility.
No person to whom a temporary license placard or windshield sticker has been issued for the use of a motor vehicle under section 4503.182 of the Revised Code, and no operator of that motor vehicle, shall fail to display the temporary license placard in plain view from the rear of the vehicle either in the rear window or on an external rear surface of the motor vehicle, or fail to display the windshield sticker in plain view on the rear window of the motor vehicle. No temporary license placard or windshield sticker shall be covered by any material that obstructs its visibility.
(B) Whoever violates this section is guilty of a minor misdemeanor.

Bumper has to come off before spring...Ill prolly do it when I can get Steve and Jon to drive up here to help me do the midpipe to cat swap. Then I can put my new grill on and see if I can work something out with the plate.

I agree with John pulling out the donor's radio... mainly because I want a component from there
Speaking of which, my rental has the AUX port in the front and I listened to my iPod all the way here.
Made me want that AUX board from the donor's stock head unit even more.
Just sucks that I have to pull my radio back out... at least I kept the "hidden" bolt out.

After reading the license plate law i really feel like my front window Velcro'd plate meets requirements. It is in the front of the car (does not specify outside) It is in plain view unobstructed and it is securely fastened with some sticky Velcro stuff. I feel like there is more potential to get in trouble from defacing a plate by bending it or cutting it.

Jtaylor3- I noticed that you asked for pricing on an AEM and Injen intake in another thread.
Please trust me when I say, if you want to get an aftermarket intake, stick with either AEM or Racing Beat.
I had both and they are great products.
If any of you newer guys have questions on RX8 products, feel free to ask here on our local thread.
Some of us here have been around long enough to know what is good, bad, and not worth it.
And FYI... any aftermarket intake isn't "worth it" if you are looking for huge performance gains.

Thanks Jon...I have read like a million threads so I already know it's nearly pointless to get any intake, but I'm likely going to do it anyways. I don't really plan on ever going FI so I figured I would just get an intake and exhaust for minimal power/throttle response gains I can get. Mainly I just want an exhaust right now because who doesn't want to hear the rotary in all its wonder? And how could I then resist going through Crocker Park in 1st at about 7k?! hahaha

Jtaylor3 - Been there done that...it was a blast! :P
And buying an intake isn't worth it if that is all you are looking for. You can get that out of the stock airbox.

A midpipe will net you the most gains for your dollar, followed by an Access Port. Exhausts and intakes otherwise will give you a nice tone, but may only yield 1-2 hp each max.
If you really want to mod this car and make it seem faster, mod the suspension.

I just keep with the "bugs bunny". Yeah it looks bad, but I'm not going to try and argue technicalities with a police officer. Its only going to make things worse. I do expect to be treated equally though. I see a ton of BMWs in the Fairlawn area with no plate or a dealers logo plate on the front.
My solution for the front (red / white / blue plates) was to get the thickest black frame I could find. it covers nearly all the red and blue, drawing slightly less attention.
not to interesting side note: Mexico has implemented RFID stickers for their plates. Basically if you drive past one of the scanners (like the scanners used around semi truck weight stations) it instantly transmits your info to a database. If you are flagged for some reason, example - parking tickets, tax evasion, suspended license, the police can be notified and have you pulled over. I'm betting it will get adopted by the States in the next couple years.

Tiresmoke type R has agreed to come down this Sunday and help me tear apart the donor's drivetrain. Our (read: His) plan is to pull the motor and trans right out the front because there is now nothing in the way and the car, even on jack stands, is too low to get the trans lowered and out the side.
I was looking at this plan and we may have to pull the steering rack at this point also.
And any other odds and ends that people feel like removing.
Jon: I also need to get in touch with you regarding that coolant leak. I haven't looked at it much recently, so I really don't remember the best way to address that. Think I should just get some liquid gasket and re-seal the connection?
I'm going to try to do that Saturday and see if my undertray can be saved from the last cone it ate.

Steve, do us a favor and quit thinking. The extreme heat from you frying your brain cells in causing global warming.
We shouldn't need to pull the steering rack. Once we hook the crane up to the engine and disconnect the motor mouts, trans mount, and driveshaft, the engine/transmission combo will want to tilt rearwards due to the extra weight of the transmission on the backside of the engine.
Then we just slowly inch the engine/trans forward and up and it will all eventually clear the bay.

See, you have the plan all figured out. . . and the steering rack has gotta come off sometime. . . It would be nice to test it and see what components still work properly.
. . . And that's what that burning smell is.
