The metal finishers go the full length of the shroud. I am going to need some help from you as the metal on metal is going to rattle and the point where the finishers attach is melted off already. We will look at it at some point in the spring.

That's a good idea to just do the SSV. The SSV actuator didn't seem difficult to move from what I recall. I'm at almost 106k miles so it probably needs a good clean out either way. Maybe over Spring Break, my garage will be warmer and I don't have to leave the house for a few days if I don't want so I can do it with out worrying about getting to school.
I'm going to order the RP Super CAT next week, too. That should help with my stock quiet exhaust a bit.
RE: shrouds - What about just some sheet metal, tin snips, a few screws and flat black paint?

Getting to the ssv is pretty involved. Even with the diy. I hope I never have to do it again.
Stig. Got you pm. I can't reply to pm's on my crackberry. But I got it still, just let me know when you wanna come get it or I can bring it to the next meet.
Per the exaust finishers. Its worth a try.
When is the next meet?

Jon & DeViLbOi - Well I'm an idiot, the Eclip I got from Jon and I cursed and cursed to get it on, apparently came off. I just put the wire loop back on and that seemed to do the trick. Think the Mazda stealership would put one on for me? LOL
So I'm not going to do the SSV diy if I don't need to - unless everyone wants to do the updated diy video on my car
Now just the new CAT and wait for the warmer weather so I can get these LOUD-a@@ studded snow tires off!
How about this Friday - I have a meeting in the afternoon at school (Kent). Thursday is good too. What's your schedule like? I've still got a P0031 code. Now I have my SSV actuator all wired up I can move on to the next project

Stig- If the e-clip popped-off, either you didn't have the clip in the groove or you used too small of a clip for that shaft.
I gave you a good variety of e-clip sizes, might just have to try the next size up.
Also, if you remove the SSV that'll be the best time to install the clip since it comes out as one piece (the valve and actuator).
That way you know if it was installed correctly.

I messed around with the shrouds today..I just spray painted them with flat black high heat spray then I used a gloss engine enamel. I waited until it dried and used some steal wool to dull it down a bit to normal color. Hopefully they will not melt anymore since this paint is heat resistant.

Want to plan on the 21st? I'm pretty wide open that far out. It'll give me some time to make more damage to the car.
Also, I'll be sawing the roof off the Donor this weekend. Guy in Toledo wants to buy it for a project. Brian and I have been talking about if doing so (cutting the roof off) will cause the frame to fold in half. . .
So, I'll be down here for a little bit doing that probably saturday morning if I don't get to it during the week.
Turbo: if you get your starter and bring it over, I can swap that out Saturday no problem.

I would say this will look bad unless you painted the whole plastic part of the under-bumper or whatever. I think the difference between painted and unpainted will be really obvious... but that's my opinion.
On the functionality side, I'm curious to see how well the high temp paint protects against further discoloration. I know it won't keep them from melting for sure though.

The latter would seem to be important considering if the plastic shrouds move a few centimeters closer to the pipe (or the pipe a few centimeters closer to the shrouds) they have a tendency to melt...

Idemitsu Order
All,
As some may know (or not) I have always pre-mixed my car with Idemitsu rotary pre-mix stuff.
Well, I ran out and I am going to placing an order for a case or so this season. its $54/case, and I'm getting a shipping quote.
Figured I would throw this out there.

Another thing to throw out there for this upcoming season. I found a decently priced printer that will print vinyls and supply magnet paper for me. To make it worth while (decent number to print off) I was going to throw it out here if anyone is interested in new magnets for the year. I'll post up costs/colors/fonts hopefully by tonight at the latest. Just want to gauge interest - I'll make sure it's a bit more affordable than the others in the area as well

And since people are in a buying mood...
Tirerack is selling Koni shocks for 25% off.

May or may not be a better deal that you get with some vendors but worth a look for those of you looking at upgrading shocks/springs.
