That would make sense since the car was out all winter.
I'll give that a try. Thanks.

*shrug* Ive got no real plans for tomorrow. Just know it is going to be warm and probably my best chance to do it before I really can't control the urge to not drive.

LOL... OK, I'll let you know later.

I'm heading down to the car now to install the new HU and test out the iPod.

Don't mind at all. If your car is lowered at all though you will not be able to make it into my complex.

If you touch it...you run the risk of voiding part of the warranty...that's all there is to it really.

John- I'm free tomorrow to help you out, just let me know when you want to get started.
Also, when I "hacked" my TomTom I lost all my contacts, so you'll need to PM me your address.

On a bright note... I got my iPod adapter installed!
Bastard took longer than it should have.
Lets just say I had to pull the HU out SEVERAL times because sometimes the CD and TAPE buttons didn't work after installing everything!
I was so pissed the Dremel even came out a couple times to lighten my mood.
Luckily I didn't cut through any wires!
Now its time to update the songs on my iPod for the road trip to John's tomorrow!

Did you secure the adapter that plugs into the tape mount with something other than the metal bar thingy? If you didn't, you want to get your *** back in there and do it. It falls out after about a day.

I actually did at first... but then removed it trying to "troubleshoot" why it wasn't working at first.
But the bar has a black pad that really holds it in tight (the bar doesn't sit straight because of it).
I was so aggravated with that thing, I'll probably just wait for it to come loose before going back in there.
The wiring for the gauges and my OBD-II port makes it more tricky getting in there now.

Sounds like a decent car day all the way around. . .

I just finished up pulling some small bits off the donor car and cleaning the RB air filter. . .

Since I have the accordion tube off, and I have new oem coils sitting at home, I might as well replace those while I'm at it. Haven't replaced the coils since I've owned the car... its probably time.

Jon - You must clean your air filter. . . mine had probably half a pound of dirt/sand embedded into it. It was rough.

Doc - That tool is very good at breaking the little fins off much faster than I could have with a screw driver and hammer. I'm sort of at a loss as to how to get into the fuel tank now. I'm running out of fins and even I know that heat isn't a good solution for this problem.

Hope your seats and midpipe are in (respectively)

And it turns out that I do not have a mazdaspeed short shifter. Pulled mine out and compared with the shifter from the donor . . . identical.

Yes today was a productive car day for me as well...installed the clear corners and decided to do a little interior cleaning. I figured while i was at it i might as well take some pics of the plugs i changed about a month ago so you could see how beautiful they were...

I don't know if it matters to you, but did you remove the reflectors from the clear corners? I like the look of them without.

Also, how long were those plugs in? A month? How many miles?? They look trashed for being so new! I had mine out a few weeks ago. Wire brushed them and put them back in.

I left the reflectors in and left the white bulbs in too cause i didn't feel like buying stealth bulbs nor do i want the fried egg look (do you have any pics of the reflector removed?)...As far as the plugs go I'm guessing they are original and the car had about 57K on it when i took them out, I put brand new ones in...I don't think cleaning was an option for these because they are pretty bad and the electrode itself was chipped and degraded.

Per the plugs, I think I misunderstood. I thought the plugs you posted a pic of were your month old plugs. It makes way more sense that those were the ones in there for 50k miles.

Per the Clear corners, I like the white anyway...

I didn't have any pics of the reflector vs. non reflector of my 8, but did find these on the forums:

The reflector is just a little plastic tab that blocks the light from being visible from the front of the car. . . i assume its to keep it from getting confused with a turn signal?

And this is what it looks like with it removed:

ermmm....my reflector was metal...it makes it so the light only displays in the front half of the marker...and that picture of it with the reflector is horrid.

Yeah, maybe it was metal... I took this pic after removing mine and mangling it up pretty good upon removal.
