ha no i told you the story, i was actually test driving an evo with a blown turbo, so they showed me an rx-8 they just got in and i looooved it after test driving it. never driven a car like it.
and i hope i can still stick around even if i do get an integra, i'm on a few other forums and this is really the only one i like posting on cuz everyone isnt an a**hole who's constantly in a dick measuring contest, people actually help you on here. i think i might even be able to survive the rice being thrown at me if i show up to a cookout or something in the integra if i get it haha.

As some of you have seen, my car tried to eat a cone last year and ended up damaging the plastic engine undertray... does anyone know of any place that sells one of those, but in aluminum?
Its a long shot, but something tells me that its probably going to happen again.
TJ: any bites on the car? I'm asking everyone at work if they're interested in one... as soon as I confirm is that same kind of car I have, they lose interest.
Are we still on for this weekend? Or you keeping it "as is" for now?

1) $180???!?!?! You can pick up a pice of aluminum from Home Depot and a set of tin snips and make one WAAAYYYYY cheaper.
2) It's probably not in stock.
3) It may potentially be regarded as an illegal modification for STX, keep that in mind. Since you are removing an item and replacing it with an aftermarket one that technically is not allowed to be removed, modified, or replaced with a non OEM unit, people could bitch, especially since it is smoother than the OEM shield and potentially covers more area, one could consider it a modification to improve the airflow under the vehicle.... Nevermid, regardless of function whether it does or does not improve airflow and create downforce, the product is described as something that will increase downforce. It is illegal. And trust me, someone will bitch if they know about it or see it.
4) If you broke a plastic one by hitting a cone, what do you think will happen to that thing when you smash up a cone? Remember, the plastic ones are more flexible and most of the time will just bend when pressure is applied and go back to shape. If you bend the aluminum one, now you have to reshape it. If you bend it enough, well, that's $180 down the *******...
5) You can still salvage the one that is on the car. I saw what was damaged. Nothing a little epoxy can't fix since it's basically just fixing the bolt holes. And for that matter, you may be able to resecure it to the car without worrying about fixing the holes.

Well... the beat rush under panel bolts on behind the undertray. . . so no help to me anyway.
And I'm nor worried about saving the one I have... i'm going to have to do that anyway in the short term... but I would like to replace that at some point with either a new oem undertray, or explore other options with something better, or just more bling blink for my whip.

1) That's what I thought...
2) Well it's not in the RR stock...who knows if Beat Rush has it.
3) I think it is the same size as stock...just made up of a different material. Isn't that the point of STX though...to be able to "improve" upon stock?
4) I hope that it would be made of a thick aluminum so that it wouldn't bend and just shred the cone. I wonder how loud it is from rocks and the like though. I would also think that something like a RacingBeat Radiator screen would be required as well as things are more likely to bounce up off the metal surface than the plastic one.
5) I would work with one of the metal fab guys and see if you can replace the front lip with some metal and affix it with rivets further back to secure it.

4. Thick aluminum is going to add weight and be expensive. I already have the RB screen, so no problems there, esp if rocks aren't being sucked in from the car in the front of me.
5. Here is the rub: there isn't much metal up in the front bumper, front lip, splitter, etc area to work with... so you're limited as to how strong you can make that piece without risking the integrity of the anchor points.
So... that would be the difficulty. Replace it with aluminum but then all you do is cause damage to other components that it mounts to. I was just seeing what what out there for ideas... and you could make the whole structure stronger, but not without adding weight. . . so: looks like an oem replacement for me.
