my cousins son is over in germany serving in the military and was looking at getting a car to use there. he was thinking of getting either an audi or bmw but i told him abut my 8 and now he is looking at getting one himself. he said he found a '96 rx-7 but it needs something done with the clutch. is there anything different between a clutch on a rx-7 and a clutch on a regular car?

Anyway, I'm pretty sure the FD RX7's clutch is a normal hyraulic clutch, nothing special other than having to drop the trans to change it. . . again, like any other car.

Found my coolant leak. Its odd, its almost like there is a pinhole in the lower seal of the thermostat housing... problem is that it is pouring out of there. When it cools down and I can drain the coolant, I'm going to do my best to pull it off of there and see if there is a crack. The donor thermo housing is gross, but should clean up with 30+ minutes with a wire brush.
I'm thinking of taking the old thermo housing and milling it to ensure that the surface is smooth and not slightly warped. But with the way that its got a hole, I'm thinking it might be cracked.
Pics or it didn't happen. All the pics are taken from inside the Pass. wheel well. Can't see anything from the top, even with the airpump and everything out of the way. Got lucky.

Well since I have to go to my nephews birthday party this saturday and be mobbed by a million 5 year olds and such I figured I would reward myself by visiting their shop considering it is only about 3 miles from my brothers house...I'm interested to see what its all about

I was there a couple years ago to buy/install my exhaust. It's not really a store at all. Just a small warehouse with two lifts and a dyno. It's not like there's a 'store' there for you to windowshop.
Jason @ the rx7store is more of a reseller than anything else. I got the distinct impression he was t all that enthused with the rx8 and that what I did - actually going to the store to pick up my exhaust and have it installed - was a little out of his comfort zone. They did a great job istalling it fwiw.

Well he actually could bring it back if it was a 86-95 Rx7. Apparently NHTSA found something slightly different about 96+ Rx7's so they could prevent there importation.

Since it is classed as VSP though you would need Mazda to basically write a letter stating that a European Rx7 is no different than an American. That is also assuming it is a left hand drive. If it is right hand drive you will have to have the car inspected so they can make sure that the safety is the same.

Yup. Had to put the seat all the way forward and then lie the seat flat back. Had the exhaust wrapped in trash bags. Managed to not scratch anything but my rear center console. In retrospect had I removed my spare tire and opened up the hatch between the rear console and the trunk I probably could have gotten it in w/o even having to use the front seat.

Ryan had the Borla exhaust that Brian has now.
As for Friday...they tend to be a little rough for me since I work late on Friday and early on Saturday. If enough people head down I would attend but not really interested in just rushing down to have dinner with Nate. (It was Nate right?)
