It all comes down to seat time, the more you do it, the better you become. At the next NORA/ASCC event, see if you can get Tina, Eric, Dan or one of the Janssens to ride with you, they are really good at what they do!

Ahhhh......it was a joke. Maybe not very funny. But a joke.

Actually, I'm quite pleased. My first year and this past week was the first time I wasn't last place.

I hate the saying that it's just seat time, because doing the wrong thing over and over again does not improve performance. On the other hand, practice and experience DO help.

Thanks for your words to help, but I really was just joking......

I doubt I'll run that day but if I'm free I'll come up. And I just got my new helmet from Summit (Impact Racing, SA2005) so I can go as a passenger and anyone with a Medium head can use mine when I'm not. I don't know if I like the idea of a fun day where it's essentially a free for all. I know I'm exaggerating and it's not that much different but I really enjoyed the low key, controlled environment that driving schools give you and it'll be a while before I'm comfortable enough to run in a less controlled environment.

And FWIW my only time on the track was at Nelsons at a NOR Porsche club driving school and I loved both the track and the schooling. When it's your first time out you spend so much time concentrating on hitting your apex, learning how to navigate traffic, and making sure you're watching/understanding the flag guys that you don't really end up pushing your car hard. 8s are so damn forgiving that it takes either a decent amount of effort to get it off the track or an easily distracted driver.

Anyway here's the new exhaust. Didn't end up getting the intake installed so I'm gonna go w/just the exhaust for a week and then hopefully install my intake next week. It'll get me a better feel for the each mod. Gotta say I absolutely -love- the sound. It's just deep. Plus it looks pretty damn good and it sticks out far enough that I am not gonna have to worry about melting plastic when I swap out for a midpipe.

Oh and the last pic is proof that an RX-8 does have some advantages over the RX-7... Even the RX7Store guys were impressed I managed to pull it off.

Gonna polish 'em this weekend.

Whoever said you need to back up smak talk? That'd be no fun. I would NEVER be able to talk at all if I always had to back it up.

I gotta tell you, that's why I don't have the huge interest in track racing. I know Tony loves it. And I'd love to drive real fast. I do it all the time on the Turnpike.......errr......someone I know does. Anyways, the fear and risk of wiping out a $30K car makes me apprehensive. That's why I like Autocross so much. Lot's of speed, real test of car and driver, but really minimal risk. Worst case scenario, you spin out. Plus lots of nice people.

Yeah, I know I'm yeller.

I respect Tony and others interest. Frankly I will do it one day. The temptation is too great. But that's some serious cash in a wipeout. And your NOT gonna explain that away to an insurance company.

I'd definitely be inclined to do a solo event type race, where you're the only car on the track. Again, decreased risk. Also less enjoyment, I'm sure.

BTW. Don't forget to check out RKs label on his car near the exhaust. No doubt about that color!!!!

Yeah that's the one thing I thought once I had it installed. Aesthetics wise it would certainly be a little more pleasing to the eye to have the tip just inside the plastic shroud. I may see if I can adjust them in a bit but I'm going to wait and see if I get used to it since eventually I -want- them that far out. All the 3" pipes have to come out a little more or else you risk melting the plastic. Lots of people who got the Turbo XS found that out and now anyone who gets it has to extend the tips out ~4". W/o the midpipe I don't think it gets hot enough but I'm planning on getting one next year - either a straight pipe that I swap in/out on track days or a resonated one if I think I can stand the smell.

While I like to keep my car looking as good as it can I have no problem whatsoever sacrificing some looks for performance and the Borla will work well with whatever upgrades I want, is quiet enought that I can pick up dates without looking obnoxious (they have to get to know me before finding out I'm obnoxious), and has the deeper, louder sound that matches a sound the way my other senses respond when I start opening the throttle. Plus I can still talk to someone in my car w/o shouting - as long as I'm not gunning it.

I don't know what shape I'll be in tomorrow but I'm gonna try to show.

I might. My insurance agent will explain it for me since he will probably either be in the car with me or at the track with me.

But that is the biggest fear I have with ANY racing. Not injury so much as effing up my car. While I obviously wouldn't want that to happen I know I can deal with it financially. It would suck - epically - but I never put my car on a track until I owned two. And you have to either be a little insane or a lot rich to track a car you love. Guts have nothing to do with it.

I'll be there to hang out with you. Basically you need to take 271S from 480 and get off at Broadway Forbes. Go straight through the intersection until you get to the next light and turn right. At the next light turn left and it is on your left. Enter at the entrance after the main gate that is labeled for employees only. Was super easy to get to. If you get lost call my cell. I should be there from about 9 till 12 or so. I won't be taking pictures this time around.

It was Jon. He came out and hung out for a bit. There was another VR that showed up later. Didn't know that person though. And since Doc was the only one there...Brian actually made it into the money round. Still waiting to see how he did though.

No... it left Florida yesterday morning. Estimated date is July 9th (Wednesdays).
I asked Sara at MazSport how much it would be to overnight... she called me back with $105 I told her I can wait 'till next week.

In addition.... when I got home from the event today, a dark cloud floated overhead in my house....
My wife ran into some financial trouble, so I had to contact Jeff and cancel my AccessPort order
Maybe next month I can try again.............................

Jon, I didn't see you. When were you there?

Brian did well and made it into the money round. I personally did very poorly. Brian's girlfriend Meghan did very well in Brian's car also.

In the vein of those that can't do, talk...........I got to be the announcer for the third Series money round.

AX at Lakeland next weekend then the Great TeethNThings.com Smackdown challenge at Captain's Stadium. I want to see everybody from the forum come there to support forum member Meghan and her charity event for the Mitochondrial Foundation (Told you I could spell it).
