Agreed on the website too. Running IE at work and Firefox at home. I just figured IT somehow limited my bandwith, and its only a matter of time before they cut me off from this site all together. Its happened before with Ebay, then craigslist and youtube, then they started blocking certain banner ads on sites like yahoo. Its pretty annoying. Its like they want me to work.

Carp, I forgot about that MMA thing this weekend Jon. If it wasn't for Megan's car being broke I would go. But considering we have to be in Columbus this Saturday and racing on Sunday, the only time I really have for it is Friday night.

At least the RX8club banner above seems to load up fine. I get to look at the two vehicles cycle back and forth for 5 minutes. What's up with that dark colored one? I cannot figure out what it is (best guess a 3 or CX7). Either way what is it doing on this site? Also noticed the red 8 has a vented hood and what appears to be shaved door handles, smaller side mirrors and is that a red dash?

i just hope my lawsuit gets settled before they sell it so i can trade my 05 in on it. they did say they could order me another one and if i did that i would get the nav in it since thats about the only thing missing from this one. love the blue and it would look great next to my blue bike

I use 105. My wrench isn't too sophisticated, so I figure that's good for me because i doubt the wrench is that precise. So + or - 5 lbs is good.
Don't listen to Josh though, he uses a 6 foot cheater bar and then jumps on it.

Did you not see the pics?!The bracket was warped and lifting the read head against the platter.
Freezer isn't going to do anything...
And coming from someone who builds circuit boards, putting them in freezers can potentially crack the solder joints.
Also, if you do put it in the freezer, you'll need to let it dry out so the condensation doesn't short the components.
Should be used as a last resort.

Yeah, im aware of what condensation and freezing can do but i thought the last resort point had been reached.
Sorry for intruding but i know that data recovery can be imperative to the point where anything that might work is worth a shot.

The platters and controller board was already swapped with another drive (same model).
It was safer than trying to swap the actuator and arm that could potentially damage the read heads on that assembly too.
I had to fabricate a tool to hold the platter still while removing the center screw.
The heads attempt to read the platter now (instead of just moving back and forth 5 times and then parking like it was before) but its not recognizing it.
Its possible the lifted read head damaged the platter to the point it won't read it.
I have a couple more things to try... but its not looking good.

swapping the controller board is normally step one (for the record ive never frozen a drive lol)
I never get to get to do fun stuff like that at work anymore. We have redundant drives upon redundant drives so the bad one goes right to warranty.
If you don't mind me asking Jon, what do you do? I'm just curious as you seem to have quite a lot of knowledge under your hat

We basically build circuit boards, communication models, PLCs, backplanes, sensors, relays (you get the point).
I started off testing circuit boards and repairing them, which is where I learned to solder real fine 208 lead PLCC and 0201 components.
I then became an operator working on the machines that build the circuit boards.
Now I'm a Manufacturing Engineering Technician who repairs the machines when they don't behave and also any component pick, recognition, or placement issues that can cause issues during the product run.
Far as computers, I was a computer technician before I worked for Rockwell Automation.
But after many many years of doing that, I wanted a change and thought it would be cool to see how a computer is really built (down to the component level)
I still work on computers as a "side job" to earn extra money, but I like what I do now more.
Watching a machine that can place up to 13 components a second is just amazing.

LMAO... we actually do have BGA rework machines.
It usually takes about 40 minutes to replace a bad/shifted BGA.
Its funny that you mention Xboxs... I've already brought about 4 Xboxs in to install modchips.
Using our equipment here makes the job so much easier, especially when you have to solder wires to various test points.
And it looks like I'll have another Xbox coming soon
