Have you re-flowed anybody's red ringed xbox yet?(hopefully that comment doesnt earn you a full PM box of people asking you to do it lol)
LMAO... actually no, mine never failed (yet).
I would love to take one through our x-ray machine to see how bad those solder ***** really are to where heat generated causes the solder to reflow that much.

ive got one you could look at it actually if your genuinely interested. I did every damn thing to it but once it hits that point where it red rings they may as well be thrown out. The key is to replace the x-clamps BEFORE it red rings. If you've got the cpu and gpu with 45nm chips though, you can just sit back an enjoy lol.

One thing I'm not sure about (never read THAT in depth on the issue) is if anyone actually figured out if the problem was a result of insufficient solder or an internal problem with the component itself.
You know?

I remember reading about it in several places as im the guy my friends turn to if anything related to technology breaks lol (sound like youre in the same boat!)

Lots of them state the issue as dry joints.
There are even companies selling rework machines specifically for the xbox board!
If its theory or fact i personally couldn't say as i dont have the equipment.

I know Team Xecuter sells a RROD Repair Kit:
http://team-xecuter.com/rrod/

I've used their products with all my Xbox mods.
I use their modchip in the original Xboxes and I have their Xecuter Blaster CK3 on my Xbox360 so I could flash the DVD drive and play copied discs.

But if this is a soldering issue, this will likely not work.
I believe all these clamps are doing is pushing the BGA further onto the pads in attempt to make a better connection.

Thats exactly what its doing. So the xbox becomes a time bomb waiting to faile again. You can buy the parts from lowes/home depot for about 2 dollars and squeeze anywhere from a week to a few months out of the xbox which made people happy enough lol

Well... if your xbox is just a paperweight and you don't mind me looking at it, I'll see what I can find out.
If its something I think can be repaired here, I can attempt it (again, if you're OK with that).
But there are no guarantees...

yeah, it definitely a paper weight lol. Its been out of commission for about 1.5 years so you can look at it, yell at it, call it names, and just generally demean it. We broke up a long time ago.

Extra? . . . not really extra. I just one that is not in use.

Thanks for the help yesterday. You wouldn't believe how many wires I had crossed . . . proof not to try to hook up home theater equipment on two hours of sleep. Blues and Greens look exactly alike.

. . . got any extra RF switches? And since you've seen my set-up, do you remember if it needs to be on channel 3 or 4 to get the Super Nintendo to work?

I totally was looking at videos on Youtube of different Rx8 exhaust combos. Started watching one and said wow that looks like the Cuyahoga Falls entrance to Rt8.....then I realized that the author who posted it was "Jon316g" haha

got my compression tested today.
rotor 1- 7.6,7.7,7.5
rotor 2-7.8,7.7,8.1

The tech wrote 830 max and 600 min. i thought 680 was min.

Either way everything looks good and i drove that bitch hard before taking it in to make sure it was nice and warm lol.

On a side note, you guys think its ok to switch to synthetic at 42k miles?

You're right... 680 is min.
I still have to test/recalibrate my compression tester more... maybe in a couple weeks when I actually have free time!

Ambulance which dealership did you go to out there? I lived out in Bowling Green for awhile so i know there are only a few to choose from. I really like the one down in Fostoria because the mechanic down there build rotary engines. There are even parts of some of his old engines decorating his office.
