Looks like the Penn/Ohio meet is finally scheduled for Saturday May 22nd:
https://www.rx8club.com/ne-rx-8-forum-29/eastern-ohio-western-pennsylvania-meet-up-195071/page3/

I see Brian and Megan already put their names down.
Might be out of the way for some, but you guys can meet at my place and follow.
Of course I'll have the TomTom and I live right by the turnpike so it'll be a good meeting point.
Let me know if you're interested so I can work out when we should meet up and leave.

I'm excited to see if my idea fixes the common problems with those BGAs.

Well, its official. I don't have the ugliest RX8 in Massillon, Ohio.

http://akroncanton.craigslist.org/ctd/1725486964.html

I might go test drive this beauty.

Also, on a side note... massillon tiger's colors. This town has an unhealthy addition to their High School Football team.

I hate to be a cocksmoker, but that car looks way better than yours.

Ditch the wing on the back and I would probably rock that thing.

Btw, the issue with my daughter's Bonneville got resolved. It turned out to be a corroded airbag sensor after all. Pontiac was, of course, absolutely no help whatsoever. Buying a 14 year old Pontiac is after all, under Ohio law, an express assumption of the risk. (What's that line from Animal House? - "You F'd Up . . .You trusted us!)

What happened with the insurance co. was interesting and might benefit others. The insurance company at first blew her off, but I reviewed her policy and saw that she had comprehensive coverage. Policies from different companies will vary, but most use (or base their language on) standard ISO forms that basically say the same thing.

If you have comprehensive coverage and a component fails, and in so failing causes the destruction of other components outside the failing component's system, the failing component is not covered, but the other damaged components of the vehicle are covered. In Marina's case a $200 sensor corroded and failed, and in so doing caused about $3,800 in damage to the car, including both airbags, the windshield, parts of the dash, etc, etc. I confronted them and argued that they owed her the lesser of either the cost of repair or the actual cash value of the car, less the $200 sensor and her deductible. When they realized I was an attorney who knew how to read a policy they folded immediately. It really was a no brainer. I don't think they were trying to screw her so much as insurance companies don't put their best and brightest on auto property claims and I don't think the adjuster had run into this before.

Anyway, happy ending. They totaled her car and paid her basically what she paid for the thing in the first place.

There is a far worse one driving around my area (No not mine), with mismatching unpainted bodykit pieces and a giant wing spoiler. I think it may have spinners too.... Really I looked at the orange and black one and thought, no i would never buy that.....but it could be a lot worse. At least it looks like they put some effort into it.

Congrats on saving your daughters money Tom!

Edit: I showed my brother the rx8 and told him he should get an 8 too. His response was "Why would i want a Halloween rx8."

hey guys! im kinda a newbie here! i posted back trying to sell the 8! after trying to sell it, ive decided to just keep it. ive been driving it this spring, it feels great to be driving it and not just store the car im payin on! lol. well ran into an issue this past week. i tried starting my car and the engine light came on. it surprised me because it wasnt any different then any other time starting it. i reset the light thinking perhaps it just misfired and came on. well this afternoon it popped on again. i was pretty frustrated because again it wasnt a bad/crazy start. ive tried to research, i know the starters, coils and spark plugs have been issues for people. my car has only 30,000 on it. should i look into upgrading those? could that be a possible issue. sorry, im a newb with the rx8s!!
