Oh... John and I checked out the car painted in a brick pattern... and its actually textured paint!!!
I'm sure that added some unnecessary pounds to the car... but that wonderfully hand crafted spoiler probably made up for it

No big deal... I missed EVERYONE (except John)
I thought you guys were starting at 10am, so I figured I would show up at 11am.
When I saw Ryan drive by, I knew that wasn't good.
Oh well...... it seemed like a really nice place.
I'll have to review back and find out details on the Smackdown challenge.
Wasn't Captain's stadium where I went in Eastlake (across from the stadium)?

Let's have the TeethNThings.com Mazda RX8 Smackdown.

TeethNThings.com will sponsor a $15 discount for a future NORA event at the Charity run Saturday July 19th. That's a 50% discount for a regular event.

So come out and support the Charity AX at Captains Stadium.

Also, don't forget to shop www.teethnthings.com.

All smack chatter is included!

Per Megan (aka Megz):

Saturday July 19 will be an autox to benefit UMDF: United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation.

Details:

When: Saturday July 19: 12 Noon - ...whenever we finish
Cost: $30 for EVERYONE (NORA/ASCC member or nonmember)
Where: Eastlake parking lot by Captain's Stadium

The event is up on axtime (you can pre-register for the event at www.axtime.com) Other than covering the cost of the insurance and using the lot .. I would like to make sure we make that and get close to $500-$1000 raised for the foundation.. yeah it may be a stretch but who cares, it's worth it. In order to get that, we need roughly 50-60 people out there.

This will be a meet/autox/benefit and for FUN, no need to take this too seriously, but I REALLY appreciate all the help I can get and support

To preregister for the event click on the provided link and go to pre registration events. On the new page that opens up click on NORA/ASCC and it will take you to the events page.

The address for the parking lot is as follows:

Eastlake Captains Baseball Stadium
35300 Vine Street
Eastlake, OH 44095-3142

LINK TO GOOGLE MAPS

The lot is on the Southwest corner of Vine Street and 91. If you follow the google maps link it is the lot directly across 91 to the West of the stadium

Hope to see some of you out there.

He can't fit into his car with a helmet on. It's a common problem with us moonroof owners.

I did tell him at one of the meets that he's not allowed to talk smack to people until he either makes a custom lower seat bracket (seriously) or cuts his roof off (not so serious).

And I have been good. Really...I have.

I did talk to some of the guys and they said that there is a place in Bay Village that they went to and had their seats lowered. I just haven't had time to make an appointment and go out there. It will get done eventually though so I can go to the HPDE event that Marlon is preparing.

On a side note, I am having an issue with my car that I can't seem to figure out.

For the past two weeks I've been getting a knocking noise from the front end just left of center when I take a corner at speed. It will only do it once in the same direction, meaning that if I take a left turn sharply or at speed it will knock once, but not knock again until I take a sharp or fast right turn.

It seems like something might be sliding back and forth causing the knock as I can replicate the noise by driving straight and jerking the wheel left and right. Another idea was that the swaybar bushings needed greased. After removing them and lubing them up, the sound persisits. All other suspension parts seem tight and in place.

I'm going to take another look today, but hopefully I can figure out what it is by the next AutoX. Any ideas??

Interesting.... Only thing I can think of off the top of my head is check the intake pipe running out of the engine bay. Maybe those two shoulder bolts came loose and the pipe is hitting the opening.

Maybe try to get a video of this occurring....

I'm not comfortable pushing a car I am unfamiliar with to it's limits. That said I probably could drive Brian's car. Still doesn't get me into the charity event though as I have tickets to MidOhio already and need to leave by 11 AM to make one of the races I want to see. Maybe the next NORA event I will talk with him since they don't run SCCA.

Someone else on the forum had a similar issue. They had something drop into their defroster duct that caused it.

I think i'm off camp that day so i'm going to try to make it. Do we have to pre-register or can we just show up the day of and pay? I like the idea of this as a charity event wish we could always race for a cause.

I checked that already and it seems pretty tight when I tried to wiggle it with my hand. I'll try and tighten the bolts and see if it makes a difference.

As for something going down the defroster duct, I never put anything on my dash or near it, so I think that's out of the question.

I'm going to take a look at the car in a few minutes here. Thanks for the suggestions.

I wouldn't think that our cars would experience worn bushings in the upper or lower control arms this soon (but you never know)!
Do you feel any resistance after the knock (as if something is rubbing)?
Also... have you checked the tie rods? I had play in my wheels on my truck and had to replace them.
Again, something I wouldn't expect to wear this quick, but if you've had an alignment done and the nut wasn't tight or it worked loose, I could see that occurring.
Now that I think about it....... I actually had that happen once on my car!!!! Forgot all about it! The nut was actually loose!
My next thing to check would be the tie rods!!!

Thanks for all of the suggestions. The problem was a loose motor mount. It took me all of 20 seconds to fix once I spotted the problem. I guess the guy at Classic Mazda must not have tourqued it down properly when they put my new motor in a while back.

The problem is remedied and I'm back on track. (Literally)

Megan says that they are taking walk-ups; however, she prefers cars pre-registering if they know they will be there for sure.
