The meet is still a "go" for tonight, correct?
Like I said before, I'll try to swing through after class. Depending on when we get out. Probably around 9. So if you guys leave before then, someone shoot me a text and let me know.

With the sudden cancellations for today's meet... John and I agreed to not have the meet tonight!
We can try to schedule for another time.
If anyone is interested in a meet, Steve and I will be leaving for tomorrow's meet in PA at 8am.
If you're interested in going, let me know ASAP so I can give you directions to my house.

Well DroptRX8... we'll likely meet up very soon to troubleshoot Steve's car.
This will give you an opportunity to meet some of us and ask any questions you might have.
We'll be tearing into the car quiet a bit, so you'll get to see a lot of "technical" stuff.
Keep watch for those updates... I'm sure Steve and I will discuss this more tomorrow during our long drive to PA.

I was hoping you could see the stupid shape of a JDM clear corner but you really can't. But if you imagine that the flat section of the fendor sticking out you will have it.

We would see AFR between 16 and 18 while the car was trying to recover itself, then if you gave it gas, the AFR shot up to 20.4
The STFT would stay at 0 and then shoot up to 20%.
While troubleshooting we received two CEL codes.
P2004- APV Stuck Open
p0506- Idle Air Control System RPM lower than expected.
I hooked-up a 12VDC supply to the APV motor and cycled it back and forth.
We could tell that the motor was reaching both "limits" so it was definitely traveling.
After talking it over with Charles R Hill, he suggested checking the purge system because that can also cause a vacuum leak.
He also suggested checking the gms/sec at the MAF to verify its 2 at cranking and 5-6 at idle (with a steady 900-950rpm).
I have the ability to test the solenoid, but since its attached to the UIM, I told Steve to just swap it out with the donor's so he didn't have to wait for me to make it down there.
And while the UIM is removed, inspect all the hoses that run to the UIM and ensure they are secured at the other end.
But with swapping the UIM we're only swapping the purge solenoid, not the rest of the purge system which goes back to the tank.
I also asked him to swap the MAF to rule that out too.
Tried to run my compression tester, but there was no feedback from the transducer.
Later that night I emailed the company and they had me run a test, which we found out it was a defective transducer.
So I'm shipping it back under warranty and the turn-around is two days.

mmm'kay...
For those following the soap opera that is my engine bay...
Did a bit more trouble shooting tonight per Mr. Gilbert's instructions.
First, swapped MAF. No Help.
Capped purge hose... appear to help for a moment... but it didn't.
So... that leaves us with a fuel problem. So, upper intake manifold is off and I'm working my way down to the fuel rail to pressure test it. Clogged injector? Bad fuel pump? clogged fuel sock? too much premixing?
Place your bets. . .

Steve- Did you cap the hose or the fitting to the purge chamber?
Did you also inspect the other vacuum hoses like the OMP, jet-air mix, and distribution blocks while the UIM was removed (since its difficult to see with it installed)?

Well Steve... if you really want to go straight for the fuel injectors, we'll need to remove the fuel rails and short the fuel relay to activate them.
Then watch the red injectors and see if the "drip rate" is equal on both.

Well, I didn't know to check anything else on the UIM, its not too bad to take on and off, so should I put it back on to check the other hoses? Or just attack the fuel injectors because I already have it off?
Also... I haven't taken a pic of it yet... but there are like very fine metal filings all through the lower intake and pushed back into the upper intake. I'll take some pics.
