LED flashlight pics looking down to the SSV
OH, and on a much more comical note... I found a 10mm socket with extension still attached below the UIM.

The oil rings on top of the LIM indicates a very likely spot for a vac leak.
The UIM may not have been fully seated/bolted down.
Here is what I would do.
1) Take carb cleaner and remove all the oil from the top of the LIM.
2) Remove the orange gaskets from the UIM and clean with soap/water (or swap with the donor's).
3) Reinstall everything. When installing the bolts for the UIM, don't fully tighten one side before starting another bolt. This can cause one side to slightly lift.
4) Try starting.
5) If it works, we'll run a compression test once I get my transducer back.

This one was my bet, that is what I suggested in that pm i sent you awhile back. Have you taken the fuel pump out and checked yet?
Who knows though maybe a leak is to blame. We did see how picky your car was that one day without the air pump attached.
If you want someone to come down and hand you tools, (or loosen bolts that you don't want loosened) just let me know haha.

Steve- If cleaning the LIM and the gaskets for the UIM doesn't fix your problem, we can move onto the injectors.
We can pull the primary1 injectors (red) out and hook the fuel line directly to it and just leave the other four (yellow) injectors in place.
There is a "check connector" in the fuse panel that allows us to ground the fuel pump relay.
You can ground a wire to the PCM to activate the injectors (which requires removing the PCM), but I'm thinking we can just disconnect the eshaft sensor and crank the engine (like a deflood) and watch the drip rate.
Doing it like a deflood should (in theory) prevent us from having to ground the check connector and a PCM wire.
Either way... there are a couple ways I believe we can achieve this.
We'll just have to remember to tie the injectors to the rails so the injectors don't pop out

I know I havent been here in a long while but had to give up my Shinka cause my wife lost her job for a bit. The reason I am posting here is because I have a friend doing a show-hunt-autocross event and I immediatly thought of you guys and how mazdas usually smoke everything else in class. If you all are interested in learning more about it here is a clicky.
Trust me, you're wrong

As for the autocross I won't make it. That's the weekend of the Toledo Pro Solo.

Jtaylor3, this particular group hasn't that big on Grand Am in the past. I think John and I are the only ones who've gone the last few years, though Doc was talking about getting there with the boys this year if he can make his schedule work. It's great fun! As John said, get the Mazda Owner's ticket:

It's a pretty good deal for $30. Lime Rock was twice that for the weekend, and they charged extra for the corral parking (though they didn't see to enforce it). At Mid-Ohio you absolutely need to park in the infield. The general admission parking is the longest, crappiest hike of any track I've ever been to.

You want to meet up at our usual place Tom for the drive down? Im probably going to go down on Sat morning...spend the night down there...and then head back after the race on Sunday.
Tom is being a bit modest, he has been on board with SpeedSource for the past two races.....he crewed for the #70 car yesterday and @ VIR, he was the tire runner for all 3 cars.....I got a lot of great feedback from Sylvain and all of the crew chiefs about how well our people did. It may not seem like much, bit every second counts! I think they'll have you crewing again @ Mid-Ohio as well.
Mid-Ohio should be a great event, we will have some great prizes to raffle off, Piloti shoes, Corsa Car Care Products, meet and greets, paddock tours, tech talks and more. I am workingon getting some team apparel as well and 4-Rolex Mazda RX-8 posters.
We'll have out tent from Mazdaspeed Motorsports too!

Hey Marlon...ltns. Looking forward to another great event this year. I tried to pick up my tickets for the Indy race as well but it doesn't look like the corral is in yet. Still planning on having one this year?

Marlon, I'm still a bit up in the air about crewing because I'm not sure who among my kids are coming, and I think there will be a few potential converts from work also. Jackie may even come. It may not go over well with her if I drag her down there and then disappear during the race. Then again, maybe I'll just leave her home.
We can certainly hook up ahead of time again, John. I won't be staying over though. It's not as far for me from Strongsville as it is for you.

I'm definitely trying to go down for the Rolex race this year...never been cause I've gone to watch ALMS every year and the fact that Rolex tickets are fantastically cheap i think I'm going to hit up both this year
