Then the LOC has a outgoing wire to signal the "normal" remote on in the amp.
I have a weird line out converter: But, I think you're right that I should just go right to the lighter and not have to worry about it anymore because there are really no draw backs other than it will be a little more work.

Right...but the signal sensing remote on is what caused that persons problem. As long as you use the remote on from the cig lighter then you will be fine either way you go as they are essentially the same.

Good cleveland dealership for service...
I took my car into Bass Mazda (Ford) for it's first oil change, and ended up fleeing. I had tried to schedule an appointment, but they told me to just bring it in. When I got there I found they don't do oil changes at the Mazda service facility. Instead have a "quickchange" facility at the Ford dealer where the oil changes are done pretty cheaply -$19.95 - on a first come, first served basis. When I saw the various cars (all Fords, mostly old beaters, and not a Mazda in the bunch) lined up for their oil changes and the sign proudly proclaiming that they used Motorcraft oil, I became concerned that they might not utilize the proper grade of oil, and asked the tech behind the counter about what kind of oil they used for RX8 changes. The look of confusion and hesitation I got led me to beat a hasty retreat.
I may just be being a spaz, but I love this car and plan on keeping it a long time. It may be that they were perfectly knowledgeable and just were taken aback by my question. I'm not worried about Motorcraft oil per se, I just don't want to take a chance on having 10W40 dropped into my car by what appears to be a glorified quicky-lube. I know I can do something as simple as an oil change myself, but would still like to hook up with a service department that inspires confidence.
Can someone recommend a Cleveland area dealer with a service department that they have confidence in? West side would be best, but I don't mind going east if need be. Thanks!

I'd just take it the place that would be the cheapest and bring my own oil and filter. Thats what I do now when I don't have time/don't feel like changing it myself. Or its cold out, or I'm hung over, or there is something good on TV.
I've gotten to know the guys at my local Midas, and they charge me 14.99 if I bring the oil. They also use KN performance gold filters.

Steve - Ryan had a coupon so we got a good deal on the pads. I gave Ryan $160 for the pads...but I'm going to have to either give him more or buy him a friggin keg for the amount of work he did. Same goes for Doc for not only helping but giving up the garage. Anyway...I don't have the receipt on me at the office. I'll look it up when I get home for ya.

Well... I found out what was rubbing in my wheel well!
On my caliper (front driver's side) the rubber boots were not secured (circled in red on the left pic attached).
You can see the left side of the boot has a gap... that is not good!
This boot keeps dirt and moisture from entering and onto the pin/shaft.
The shaft is how the caliper floats, so with it rusted and cruddy, it wasn't floating.
This resulted in my inner pads to wear out and is completely gone (metal on metal).
This also resulted in it cutting into my rotor, so now I'm in the market for new rotors too!
To top it off, I drove up to Summit Racing, and they don't have ANY RX8 pads in stock!!!!
So needless to say, I'll have to order mine and drive "the other RX8" (in Doc's words) for the week.
So anyway... I removed the two shafts and filed them down to clean it up.
After applying some anti-seize to the shaft and reinstalling (with the boot installed correctly), the caliper floats just fine (so at least I don't need to purchase new calipers).

Ran Lakeland today. Course sucked and there was a lot of talk and delay. They were having trouble with the timer. Weather was nice, but you just couldn't build any speed on a long tight technical course.

Id return the favor and offer up my garage but you can't fit the car and a real jack in there at the same time. Hey New Guy...for joining the group you have to buy the lift now since Ryan's never arrived at Doc's house.

I've got a used set of front ceramic Hawk Pads. The same kind we just put on Johns car. I bought them used on the forum and decided to go with something else. They have almost no wear. HB470Z.643
Jon or anybody else want them. I don't remember what I paid for them, but I'd let'em go for $25 bucks.
Otherwise, I'll throw them up for sale in the forum.

I have a 2005 RX-8 that I take to Bass Mazda, and they have taken great care of me. They were a fairly new dealership from what I understand and didn't have their service department fully running at first. But now they do offer all services for Mazda vehicles and (after dealing with several different dealerships) have treated myself and my car the best.
I bought my car new at Bass and was pleased with the experience (except they couldn't produce the window sticker - very weird - I was suspicious and bugged them about it for about six months since they are required by law to provide this, but after after a carfax report came back clean I just gave up). It's true that their Mazda dealership was new; the service bay had not yet opened. Are they still shipping you over to the Ford quicky-lube for oil changes? I agree with Steve that an oil change is not rocket science, but I'd still prefer that anyone turning a bolt on my car knows the difference between a rotary and a snow-blower engine.
I ended up striking up a service relationship with Medina World Cars and have been pretty pleased so far. In and out quickly, inexpensive, and much shorter drive for me.

I doubt I'll be going to the October one. I think I'm done with events for the season. I've got lots of stuff to fix and pay for before the snow flies.

Have you ever had to deal with something like that? I've only ever run subs and then an aftermarket radio. I don't know anything about how to wire something like that up or how to set the gains, etc.
However, everything I keep reading is that to do it right, you need one of those little guys.

I had my aftermarket radio when I put my subs in so I didn't have to deal with the LOC either. As for the gains you pretty much play with it until your music sounds right. It helps to have two people so you can stay in your car while the ***** are adjusted. It isn't a big deal though.
