The ultimate perfect ending would've been if you could have gotten him to notice you snapping another photo as you cruised by.
Yea, I snapped the photo before we had our little encounter. Maybe he was mad because he thought I was flashing my parking light at him.

Whats everyone up to for this weekend? I will be up in Cleveland this weekend visiting family from Cincinnati.

Just seeing if there was anything going on and if so, I wouldnt mind meeting up with all you guys to chat and hangout. I wont have my 8 with me but im sure I can take my dads Tahoe for a few hours or so.

I will be getting in just in time for the Buckeyes game on saturday and then leaving right after the Toilet Bowl (Browns vs Bengals) on sunday.

I don't think anything is going on this weekend. Big autocross last weekend and a bunch of stuff going on next weekend (cruises, midohio, meets) so this one kinda looks like a 'do housework between fun weekends' kinda weekend.

I know I'm watching my niece&nephew all weekend so no fun events for me. Tho I will have a garage all to my 8 so I'll be changing my brake pads. THAT should be interesting. Good thing the two yutes already know every swear word in my vocabulary since I learned from their father.

So this morning on my way into work I saw this WB 8 comin up behind me as I approached the driveway to the office. So I slowed down to give the guy a nice friendly wave and the douchebag pulls up along side of me and then accelerates without even a wave. WTF!!!???

Yea...talk about horrible timing. My weekend is going to be spent shopping for a winter car I think.

FWIW I usually don't do anything when I come up on an 8 and probably wouldn't notice if you waved. Sometimes I'll give someone a look.

When we're going in opposite directions I'll give someone a wave but that's the extent of it.

WB owners are like that. It's the PB owners who are very nice people.

I'm doing that in a couple weekends. I just realized I have to get my Exploder e-Checked in January if I keep it. Chances of it making it through eCheck -> 0. Last time I pulled my battery right before going and then pleaded ignorance and blamed my mechanic when they noticed it hadn't fully cycled. Doubting that works a second time since the thing is 5x louder. Between a new ABS sensor and the O2 sensors - not to mention possibly replacing the cat & exhaust - I'm talking 500 bucks on top of my incredibly worsening fuel mileage. If I can get ~1500 or more in trade-in I can grab something a few years newer with slightly better gas mileage and significantly fewer problems. 140k is a lot of miles on a Ford.

Maybe I'll just start duct taping random crap on that car. That should fix it.

BTW - You post up your pics from Sunday yet John?

What time? I can probably stop by on Friday night for a bit. Not going out and I have to do mine on Saturday/Sunday so it wouldn't hurt to have more first-hand experience. Have to get down to my brothers a little later so no midnight nonsense.

What pads did you end up getting?

No biggie. I will put on my patience cap. Wish they hadn't forced me to use my duct tape in place of my STU lettering. Woulda looked a lot better while I was spinning out or wiping out rows of cones...

I went with the Carbotech A6s. I'm not planning on road racing enough to justify the others and they couldn't set me up the way I wanted.

I thought I'd start the brakes around midnight so I can end at 2:30 am again.

Aren't Carbotechs the ones that are adamant that you either clean/sand your rotors, machine them, or replace them with new ones? I know we cleaned John's but we didn't sand them even though Hawk recommends it. Might want to make sure you read the intall/bedding instructions and make sure before tomorrow.

I know I've read plenty of people saying they just put them on w/o all the nonsense but figure you might as well do it right if you can.

I think I figure out why we had such a hard time with John's back brakes. The piston has to be lined up so that the bump on the back of the pad fits in one of the slots on the piston. I wasn't paying attention to that until I saw the grease marks on my pad. It went right on after that.

PS: Got my braces off yesterday. Kinda interesting having teeth again. - the dentist

I take it you're already done? Assuming you already test drove it how do they feel? People seem to love those Carbotechs.

So you put on the pad against the piston first making sure that 'bump' fits in one of the slots and then do the other pad? I'm hoping my inability to get those rears on had more to do with me being tired then me just not being able to figure it out.

Yeah... you have to ensure that the pad is installed to the piston groove.
Also, after you installed everything and pumped the brakes, did you check the parking brake cable to ensure it engages as it should?

It was much quicker and easier than John's. I'm convinced it was the piston position that caused the problem with John's. The rears didn't take much longer than the fronts.

I'll let you know how they feel after I drive on them a bit.

Hardest part was just loosening the caliper bolt.

Wait, so you just have to be very careful when you place the pads into the caliper assembly that the pressure point is lined up with piston? Was it hard to do?

No. The piston has little notches which you engage when you turn it in. When you finish turning it in, the notch has to be at the top so the pin on the back of the brake pad fits in it. If you look at it closely it will make sense.

I wasn't paying attention to that when I was turning the piston on John's car. I'm pretty sure that was the problem. You can't fully seat the pad unless the piston is in the proper position.

I did all mine in under 2 hours yesterday. Not bad for a guy doing them in the garage by himself. No problems at all.

ANOTHER TRICK. If you have trouble holding all this while you're working on it, pick up some plastic pull ties and tie the caliper to something to hold it while you're working. I didn't need to, but someone suggested it to me. When you're done, just cut it off. Like an extra set of hands.

RYAN - watch the pressure pin in the head of the turning tool. Mine fell out yesterday and I lost it. Weird. I'll have to pick one up somewhere. That tool was well worth the price! Thanks.

No problems with mine tho I forgot again which thing to use for the front pistons. Actually was having some problems with the LR similar to the problem we had with John's but I used the square tool which seemed to give me more pressure against the piston.

I have my Cobalt Friction XR5s on the back now and the Hawk Ceramics on the front. I'll swap out the hawks on Friday and put in the XR2s for the track. Should be interesting to see the difference.

Pretty cool about the brick car. Wonder if they finished? And I love the jokes about it being a 500 car. I was wondering how they were gonna get by since it seemed like they'd put in at least a grand in that thread in the NORA forums.

Morning everyone!

Well, pulled apart most of the ECU box and fuse box to change my silly parking lights. I order some 6 hyper white LEDs from Autolumination.

Don't believe the DIY on the forum for parking lights, unless you have little dwarf like hands, its almost impossible to get your hands down there. Plus the steel support there has a very sharp lip that makes it worse.

Drivers side was easier. I was able to wedge my hand under by just removing the fuse box cover. Took about 20 min to get it locked back in correctly.

Passenger side took about 45 min. I took apart nearly the whole ECU box, and even then I cut my wrist...

So up front I have the 2 white parking lights, the side markers are white now courtesy of Mr. Shinka (Mark maybe, sorry, I forget). And the one good blue LED that was in my parking light I am now using as my rear license plate light. Clever.

Also, spent some time working on the sub-woofer project. Its coming along nicely. Should be booming by the next meet.

I'll post some pics later on of the lights and the sub-box thus far.

Do we have another meet scheduled?
