Don't try to fight that argument.
The laser takes 1000 samples every second... its pretty accurate even while driving.

Yup. Unless you're a lawyer you're going to lose. And the only reason a lawyer would win is because he has dinner regularly with the judge or the DA and they all are happy you're paying them to get out of something so unimportant in their game of life.

Just go in and ask if you can have reduced/eliminated points if you plead guilty/no contest.

We're kind of beating a dead horse now. Doc's referring to STEP grants, and no responsible individual will deny that selective enforcement and keeping drunks and lunatics off the road is a good thing. The problem from my perspective - and I admit that it's not necessarily a pervasive one - is that the state is not selective in who it allows to patrol the interstates. There ARE abusers, which is why some years ago the legislature went out of its way to pass a bill limiting the ability of some departments - those with no rational safety interest related to a given stretch of interstate - to run radar. It was struck down by the Ohio Supreme Court which felt that if you let one do it, you gotta let 'em all do it.

The good news is that the very worst abusers tend not to get STEP grants to purchase modern equipment, which is why even a wind-up radar detector from the BestBuy bargain bin can pick them up a mile off.

All interesting perspectives. I was respectful and all that nonsense.

A success would be just to reduce the ticket in some way - ideal knocking the point side off, or reducing it down to 9 over which is a 20 dollar cheaper fine.

He was running radar, not laser, so not a problem there... I mean, I figure go duke it out with this guy a little bit; its not like I can make it worse for myself really.

The cop wasn't interested in anything I had to say... because he didn't ask me a thing - No typical, where ya going, any idea how fast you were going... just license and proof of insurance... walked back with a ticket. Whammee.

Personally, I think it was racially motivated. . . I just watched Crash last week though. hmm...

No, i hear ya on that one.

Jon, I know you work nights... but getting up at 3.30am and driving on un-plowed roads for an hour to get to work to lay people off is NOT my idea of a good morning. I'm bordering on that gitty delirious stage myself. Foo.

Hey... where are the best prices on spark plugs? I'm getting power loss in the high revs even at normal operating temps. That's plugs right?

Figure do the brakes and plugs as I orginally planned soon.
I also have a set of the footwell lights from RotaryRasp I need to install. Hooray. . .

More than likely its the plugs (could be others, but you always start at the plugs first).
Have you gotten any misfires yet?
Contact forum member "Charles R. Hill" and he'll hook you up.
It'll run you $80 for all four plugs.

Fail!

Seriously be careful out there. Roads aren't prepped yet for winter so they're worse than they would be for a similar storm a month from now. I drove past 2 cars who slid off my entrance ramp in brecksville this morning.

Unfortunately my only way to get winter tires is to get back to Hudson, which involves driving 125 miles......

hey gopher, if you ever make it back home we can change those tires out in my heated garage. 2 ppl takes less time and i have 2 jacks. I still havn't resolved the interior dilema with the shinka and now the roads are covered with salt so the rex is put up for the winter and the truck is out for good! I think i'm going turbo this winter if I find a good deal!

I ended up picking up an '08 CX-7 over the weekend. I really wanted an '09, but the only real difference was the included satellite radio and the MP3 jack, and they were positively desperate to move the new '08's off their lot.

The Durango is off to a niece who has a couple of little kids, and works for a mechanic who will get it all up to snuff for her.

Yeah, it was the easiest negotiation I'd ever had. There was a surprising amount of traffic at Westside on Sunday, but I didn't actually see anyone else buy anything during the 3 or so hours I was there. I was at Medina on Friday afternoon for several hours and not another soul ever entered the dealership.

Pics or it never happened.

Congrats. Yeah not much of a difference between the two years. They were trying pretty badly to move '08s on me over the Summer but even discounted it was a little too much for a part time car that couldn't tow the 8.

I assume you got one with AWD and we'll know the color when you put up the pics.

Gotta tell you. This is the worst economy in Cleveland I've ever seen. And I was around for Black Monday back in the 80s.

I'm getting hit left and right with credit card fraud on the internet and the office is dead, as people simply postpone treatment.

My mission trip to El Salvador is going to have a skeleton crew as person after person tells me they simply can't afford to go. Then, on top of it, our church used to provide some funding for the trip. But they've had so much of a fall in donations, they've discontinued the scholarships. It's bad!!!

Great time to buy though!!

I really like the CX-7s... its like the RX8 is the track star of the family, fast, agile, dynamic... and the CX7 is the line backer... you tell they're related, but it looks like the CX7 did got into some steroids growing up.

Good time to buy for sure though.

Doc - how much for a cleaning? I have my medical spending account to use by the end of the year and haven't been to the dentist since I moved back to ohio. (June '07 and gross, I know)

And no worries about insurance... I don't have dental.

Don't feel too bad. I gave up on dentistry in 2000 after I went to a dentist, paid a nice chunk of change to fix a chip, and had the fix fall out a few days later. He probably woulda replaced it again but I was pissed.

Went back to a new one at the end of 2006 and have now paid enough money to him to put a kid through college. Had I known Doc then I probably woulda gone to him. Tho there's something weird about letting someone you know inflict pain on you, know fully what is in your mouth, and then having beers with them. Maybe that's just me....

Ben - you get that turbo let us know. If I were you I'd just get on the BHR Turbo wait list. That should run around 6k and they're committed to getting something out that duplicates the MazdaManiac Greddy upgrade. With Mazsport going under there aren't a whole lot of other good options.

I'd love to see one being installed though. I'm sure Brian would as well and he would actually be helpful since he's done installs before.
