This is a guy in a TT driving the road in the winter, the road is better than this he's just cutting corners and driving on the other side of the road like a moron.
The best section of the road is between 1:30 - 2:00 of course he cuts through the middle. Silly me thinking that turns were fun. lol
Yeah since 218 is literally right outside of Washington Gate at Woo Poo, this road has been the main proving ground for my 8. I won't deny that I have indeed gone ***** out flooring the 8 and pushing 218 like it was a road course--but I really can't say enough how much of an idiot I was and how much of an idiot this guy in the TT is. The road is a blast and it is a lot of fun to go fast on, but you have to be careful as the road really degrades under weather, it's narrow, there are a lot of blind corners, and you have a cliff on one side and a low wall that offers minimal protection from a sheer drop into the hudson. I'm surprised this guy didn't get slippage or kill anyone coming around those blind corners as there is a lot of nasty ice and snow in the winter on this road.

The road is pretty busy on a nice weekend day (like the 8th of november...) as the scenery is nice and there are a lot of visitors. Also, getting a clear run like this on 218 is rare, as you get most people doing 20 one way because there are about 10 25mph and 15mph rated curves throughout this stretch.

So i'm saying, I guess, is if you're coming up from south of West Point, take 9W and follow the signs to roll up 218. Enjoy the great ride and push as much as you can. But be careful as the road will be much more dangerous then audiot makes it look. And try going back the same way, as the road offers a much different dynamic going south than north.

If there wasn't any serious weather the day before it will be open (inclement weather closes the road often). West Point publishes the status of the roads in and out, so if anyone wants to know the status before i can post it for everyone on saturday.

you know heck, if anyone from the south is coming up through 218, if you want to meet me at west point we can caravan through the hudson cliffs and roll to newburgh in style. if anyone's interested, i can start another thread and post more info.

218 is an awesome ride!

Lol Chris you would be a show stopper to roll up with 10-20 rotarys behind you LOL should meet up at the gas station down the street or something just to roll deep so the CT/NY can hit up NJ at the same time i'd **** a gold brick if i was there and saw NJ/NY/CT rotary roll up

chris, do you think it'd be easier for me to meet you guys on 87 or bear mountain, than guide you guys through 218?

I might try and haul my *** out to this one. Seems its worth it. I gotta request off. But I don't know. My car goes into the body shop tomarrow, I get surgery on monday, we'll see.

Anyone coming from South/Central NJ that want to caravan up the parkway? I'm coming from EXIT 91 on the parkway, so if anyone wants to meet up at like Vaux Hall rest area, or Cheesequake if I go i'm game to do that. That way I can gas up and have gas for the time through NY to get there.

I figured we'd have one more meet before the winter.

Orange County Choppers
14 Crossroads Ct
Newburgh, NY 12550
http://www.mapquest.com/mq/4-jv7eS7BwfVgQEQrl

Perks:
1. Free reign of the parking lot. We will be starting to fill from the back of the lot and try to infect the whole lot.
2. 10% off anything in the store This includes the bikes, but 10% off $30k isn't very much.(if you're serious about getting a bike talk to me and we'll get you a better price)
3. Corp. rate at the Hilton Garden next door. Please PM me if you would like to take advantage of this. http://hiltongardeninn.hilton.com/en...tyhocn=SWFSAGI
4. Tour of the Building

If there's enough interest there are a ton of good driving roads for a cruise. 9W, 218, Harriman State Park, Bear Mountain..
Some videos of the road around here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z9VUS_mjxMA
This is Route 9w and route 218 Filmed by a guy that visited our old shop and store.

I'm only listing Definites. I really need a headcount. I am also going to post on other forums and list those members too.

Please keep in mind that there are alot of kids roaming around so keep your eyes out when driving through the parking lot

^ 10% of $30,000 is $3,000.. sure it's nothing HUGE.. but it's something substantial.
