Present and accounted for. I'm in Newport news and work on Ft Eustis. Got my Sunlight silver 8 on Oct 31st. We have 6 of them on base already, Rxtreem is also from Ft Eustis! I live in the Stoneybrook section of NN.

I am in Chesapeake VA but work in Suffolk. Having lots of fun driving back and forth on 664/64. At least the roads are somewhat smooth.
P.S. Watch out for the dealer prep folks at Casey Imports (Newport News) - turns out they filled my tires to 45 PSI cold. I found this out the morning after taking delivery. Driving home the previous evening, in the rain, in an unfamiliar new car, on unfamiliar roads, and having the tire pressure light pop on makes for an interesting experience. Pressure was 52 PSI warm. Plus they attached the rear temp plate with HUGE self-tapping screws rather than the required fine thread machine screws. This obviously buggered up the threads of the blind nuts. Took me 2 days to fix the problem (long story there) - all to mount a license plate on a new car. Amazing.

First team did that to my car too. How did you fix it. The blind nuts fell out on mine. First Team added nylon inserts and then used machine screws. I hate dealers, they all suck!

That is what I had to do. I tried to get my hand up there to put the blind nut back in (only one broke loose and fell out)...not a chance. Finally I had to go down and get some of those nylon do-dads and modify it so it would accept the machine screw. I also cut the 'head' off of one and used it as a washer on the other side to equalize the spacing between the bumper and the plate. It looks fine now but it really ticks me off that thier attention to detail on a new car was that bad.
I live 50+ miles from that dealer so I didn't go back to get it fixed by them...would have I done that anyway? Not sure.
The tire overpressure was just downright dangerous.

My husband and I live in Newport News and we ordered a yellow RX8 about 4 weeks ago. We hate to wait so long but none of the dealers in the area had exactly what we wanted. We're a little concerned about some reports we've heard that the RX8 uses a lot of oil. We've also heard about some problems with flooding. Anybody else hear about these issues or had any experience with them?

And some people have had some flooding issues- I've never had a problem, even when I didn't know about it an shut it off right after turning it on. Just warm the engine up a bit before you turn it off, and you should be fine. I find 2-3 minutes is about what it takes to warm it up a bit.

Hey, im in va beach....maybe im the one someone saw at the naval stations :P. I've had the car since mid july. Only thing i got done is get strakes, tint, and added borla exhaust. Im right on the oceanfront...if anyone is curious on the sound of the borla just ask :P

btw 1rx8fan, dont worry about the flooding you have to just remember if you start the car, dont turn it off until it hits normal operating temp. Other than that had hte car for more than 6 months...no problems and still lovin every minute of my drive.

To umpuck and Elara - thanks for the information on the oil and flood issues.
In case anyone is interested, there is going to be a car show in Virginia Beach the weekend of May 1 & 2. We are in the Tidewater Mopar Club and had our Dodge in the show last year. It was pretty cool to be able to park on the boardwalk and have the ocean in the background for photo opportunities. The show is open to all makes and models.

it should be here within the next 4 weeks. the dealer said it usually takes about 8 weeks. we are anxious and the wife is making plans for pinstripping. she wants to put the rx8 in some of the car shows, along with the r/t.

hmmm pinstripping? what color? I know you guys will make it look sweet for the shows. PLEASE Keep me updated i would like to see the progress . It sucks being in this area without an rx8 in site! I have seen 2 on the road since i got this car in july. i have a ti grey 8 with the appearance package, strakes, tint, and borla if you are curious on how those will look. Im saving to get a bodykit, but im undecided on which kind :P.

This is the wife. I'm thinking of something to bring out the design on the hood, then some striping on the sides to accent the lines of the car. We downloaded some RX8 photos from the web and printed them so my husband (the artist in the family) can try drawing designs on the car to see how it will look.

You know what may be pretty sweet if you guys are up for some suggestions. You will eventually find out that the brake rotors will rust. I am going to do this on my spare time with the color shooter used....but maybe you can make the brake calipers yellow along w/ the brake rotors. That's just me if i had a yellow 8 :P.

Hmmmm....sounds like there are a bunch of us Tidewater RX-8ers out there. Has anyone approached a local dealer to see if they want to sponsor a club...maybe?
