Hi bay,
Nah - I just ordered them on Friday. I don't expect them until later in the week. I also don't have my 8 yet. The 8 I wanted (found it on the Mazda site) was still en route to the dealer and isn't due until this week. They then have to prep it for me (hopefully that doesn't mean take it for a ride). As for the TPMS sensors, Tirerack didn't have the sensors in stock. I asked and would have bought them if they had it. I am still waiting to see if there is a way to disable the sensor. Maybe for next season I will order them if they are available.

yah, the guy is giving me the same speil, if he ends up saying they don't have them in stock, im going to say send them mounted without the sensors and hope they get them out.

i don't think there is a way to disable the reciever in the car as ive read that if you dont have the sensors on the wheels you get the beep and then the exclamation U on your dash the rest of the drive =/

What's up Dag.
I can use the S plan as well. Did they wind up giving you invoice or under?
Did you buy or lease? I am most likely looking to lease to keep my monthly payments down.
Can I get by with All season tires or will the Winter tires be the best bet? What should I expect to spend on them?

Hi Mr. Tate,
I got the S-plan price. The only things I didn't get at S-plan pricing was window etching and LoJack. If you haven't already, you can get S-plan pricing from the Ford site (let me know if you need more info). I am buying. The car that I am driving now is a lease and I just don't want to worry about miles any more. I went in with about 40% down and I am going to get between 4.5 & 4.9% interest so my payments will be below $400, which was my goal. Search the forums on the tire thing. I know someone from L.I. posted they went with the all-season and they liked it, but most people seem to be saying to get the winter tires. I went to Tire Rack and paid $155/tire for Dunlap M3's 17" tires and paid $155/wheel for ASA KA3 rims. It was a nice chunck of change that I didn't expect to spend, but I feel it will be well worth it, especially since Lyndhurst doesn't plow their secondary roads so well (once you get on the main roads it's great). I believe it will be hard to find 18" rims and/or tires.

Hi Mr. Tate,

I went with 225/55/17 snow tires. I looked for all season 18's but really didn't find any that I like. The snow tires work great but I had to drop to 17's. Look to spend north of $1300 for rims and tires. Also the longer you wait the harder they will be to find.

Hope this helps

Mootz

Cool. Thanks for the replies Dag and Mootz.
Looks like i'll have to drop another grand or so for snow tires.
Dag...you're right...the secondary roads in Lyndhurst are horrible.
I live off of New York Ave....it's pretty bad.
The car is awesome though. Damn thing...I can't get it out of my head. My current lease isn't up until June, but I am thinking of getting out of it early. But then my sensible side kicks in and tells me I should wait until at least April...when the Winter lets up a bit.
I don't know...it all depends on what kind of deal I can get. Do you think I can get a better deal now, being that it is Winter and all? Or will it not matter if I wait until April or May?

i dunno, i might be driving through PA on the 24th and stop in..

btw dag, after dealing with the Tirerack guys, i ordered on Friday as well, cept mine got stopped at the warehouse due to the TPMS stuff, and they have the rx8 sensors in as of today at least.... i dunno why they indicated they didn't.

i was a bit torn, but i figured i'd get the dang sensors to be proper. added a bit more to the damage.. insult to injury.. but alas, now i'm "safe"..

I wanted to get out of my lease early, but there was too much of a difference between the buy out and the value of my car ($2k-3K). My car was stolen twice during a three year lease and I just didn't want the hassle of it being stolen again. My dad is worried about my 8 since I had so much trouble with my Integra. I waited until I made the last payment. Now I will have 2 cars for a month. If I were you I would do the same, unless they can get you out without penalty. Plus that will give you the summer to save up for winter tires and you will have a greater selection. Jan./Feb are the best times for a deal, but I don't think you will get it on an 8. I guess it can't hurt to try to get a deal better than the S-plan since you have the time.

Hopefully you are not by the new Shop Rite?!? Man I feel sorry for those people that now have their lives rudely invaded, while the old lot sits there and rots. I am over by the Kingland side of Lyndhurst. I'll probably be moving out of Lyndhurst in the next couple of months to move down to South Jersey, just waiting for my wife's company to approve the move.

Damn! Mine shipped on Monday. I even checked with them about that and they said they don't have them. I called Wayne Mazda and they said they charge around $110 for them. I think what I am going to do is ride this year without them on the Winter tires and then next winter have them put on my set of winter tires. It will give me the time to shop around for them. Lucky you!

Haven't been down 2nd Ave, but I am sure my street has it beat. Took me 1/2 hour on Monday to get out of my spot, and I don't have the 8 yet.

Let's shoot for Feb. since I don't have my 8 yet. And who knows, maybe the 8 owner on Chase Ave. is on this forum and will join in.

thanks for the response sickrx8. I am dealing with an internet sales manager right now at Wayne Mazda. I am hoping to make it down there soon. I will look for Chris if this other guy doesn't work out.
My road is pretty god awful. The plows barely touch it.
If I get my 8 soon (which i hope i do), we should all meet up. I'll keep you posted on my situation.
Dag....I did see a black 8 driving by on Orient a while back. You say he lives on Chase?

I see a black 8 parked on Chase once in a while(near the intersection with Fern). It was parked with snow on it on Mon. (assuming he/she doesn't have winter tires).

Im an active reader of the board, not a heavy poster infact this is my first time.
Had the 8 since November, a titanium gray verry much stock, no mods. Loving it so far, except when i got caught in our first snow storm (long story) and couldnt move.
anyway's if you guys meet up lemme know

One of you guys should go ahead and organize a NJ Meet, unless I missed that one already. I hear the weather is better there than PA :-)
