LOL, that's the reason bxb40 and I are thinking about starting our own RX-8 Autox Club. Founders/members: him and me. Anyway, see my other thread about the 6/19/05 autox if you are interested and would rather not wait that long. PCA runs the best autox in the tri-state in terms of efficiency and logistics.

Be prepared to show up EARLY, as in before 8am. Non-Porsche cars have limited spots to begin with. bxb40 and I will be there as the old faithful.

Not sure what you meant by how long the wait is. Autox is a whole day event. You only get about less than 5-10 minute of driving time. The rest is spent at socializing, working, and et cetera. The sport is not for everyone, since it truly requires commitment. A case in point, I drove out to Long Island for a hour one-way, just to race for 6 runs (~5 mins) while working in 95F temperature throughout the day.

So drag-racing is definitely much comfortable and less effort in terms of sweat and blood. With all the disclaimers out of the way, bxb40 and I do enjoy autox immensely. We will be more than happy to share what we know with any new comers/novices.

How long is the wait before your turn i meant. (20, 40, 50 cars?) If its more than 50, you'll be waiting an hour before you get to go.

Autox is typically divided into different groups/classes/heats. To illustrate, you may have 10-30 cars running in the same heat but spread throughout different groups/classes. The wait between runs in the same heat is generally short, 10-20 mins at most. You get 3-4 runs per heat depending on the organization. So the entire schedule works like this:

Registration sign-up
Tech the car
Walk the course
Driver meeting
Run
Work
Run
Break
Trophy time

Don't worry too much about the waiting time. You are gonna be there for a while from 7:30am until 4pm for PCA events. Check out http://www.tirerack.com/features/solo2/handbook.htm for helpful guides on Solo2.

I'm certainly interested. I'll probably suck, crush 150 cones and make a total *** out of myself but I'll still have fun.
