Baltimore rx-8 owners
#2
I'm in Baltimore, but don't know any other RX-8 owners here yet. Closest other owners I've met are fellow members of MSCCW (Mazda Sportscar Club of Washington). I'm originaly from DC so I'm used to heading down there to hang out with friends and family. Up here in Baltimore I'm a graduate student at Johns Hopkins University.

Yeah I haven't even seen many rx8's around baltimore. I've been working up in Baltimore for two years now, since I graduated from college. I'm originally from the Ocean City area. Have you attended any of the rx-8 or mazda meets?
#4
I've attended some general Mazda events with the MSCW in DC and met a few other RX-8 owners (as well as a whole bunch of RX-7 and Miata owners). However, I haven't been to a "pure" RX-8 meet, or any meet in Baltimore (missed one or two due to finding out too late or other commitments).

Hey guys,
Sionce you are talking about meeting other owners... we've just confirmed an informal meeting of RX-8 owners in Tysons Corner VA Sunday, Feb 29th at noon. See the Va/DC/Md meet thread for details.
Hope you can make it!

Hey hey,
Another Baltimore RX fan in the hizzouse.
If we reach any sort of critical mass, we just might be able to organize a tech-night like the MSCW does down in NOVA. I for one could really learn a bunch from anyone out there who tinkers and tunes!
Cheers,
SPF

Hello from Baltimore...
...I'm new to this forum, and for that matter, I'm a new RX-8 owner!
Just wanted to chime in as another B-more RX-8 guy. I have a Titanium Gray 6-speed, about 5 weeks old. I live and work in downtown Baltimore.
If there are any plans for a local meet and greet, let me know! I'm glad to be part of the "Rotary Revolution"!

It's not just you my friend there are a few up here in hardford county. but we are few and far inbetween there are a ton more 350's and G35's around I still get hey there's an RX-8 look. Still get the looks at the light I think its because they haven't really had a large campagne showing them off to the public. I do have to say it's nice having a car that not every other tom dick and harry has feel more like an idividual rather than a bandwagon kinda person.

Glad to hear we're still a rare breed all over Maryland! Have to agree with you...one of the reasons I fell in love with the 8 was its uniqueness. You should see the looks I get outta' people when I tell 'em, "Oh, it doesn't have any cylinders...it's a Rotary."
Oh well...we should really try and get a Maryland RX Club going, you think? It seems like a cool idea on many fronts from the other "state" clubs out there. A club can get group buys, discounts, organized drives and events, etc.
At any rate, if you see a Titanium Grey 6-speed zoom-zooming down 95 from White Marsh to Baltimore...it could be me!

Hey ArvinC,
Are you the guy who lives in the appartment building right near the Hippodrome & Lexinton Market? I belive I met you the other day when you chased my friend up the parking lot (a black 325i). I spend most up my time in Baltimore up neer JHU in Roland Park, but I'm originaly from DC. We didn't have much time to talk then (had to get back to work after picking up something my friend left at home), but if we're reaching a critical mass of owners here we could setup a meet. I'll also probably attend the next MSCW meeting down in DC/VA. There are plenty of RX7 and Miata owners down there, but only a few RX8's (two others that I have met, but I haven't been in a few months). I think the 8 is still fairly rare in the whole region, not just Maryland/B-more. Probably as the weather improves, we'll start seeing more .

David,
Yeah, that ws me! It was fun wheeling through there...almost like autocross. It was all in fun though...didn't want to seem like I was a d!ck.
Anyway, we all should definately try to organize some meet whether it be a Club event or just some parking lot time. I am so surprised that there are not that many RX-8 out there, though I have another owner here at the hospital I work at and saw another one (black) shooting up the JFX with me on Sunday.
Perhaps, as you've said, the nicer weather will bring more 8's out on the road. The car still remains unique though...had two people stop me at parking lots this weekend to talk about the 8.
Enjoy your drive...

Hey guys,
I just wanted to let you know that I too am in the Baltimore area. I live in Carroll County but I work in the Towson area and can be seen commuting up and down 83 in the mornings and evenings. I too rarely see other 8's on the road. I can pretty much count on two hands the number that I've seen. I've seen a red one on two different occasions in Towson (I'm pretty sure that it's the same one because the windows were tinted). I think I've also seen the black one too but I'm not sure it's the same one. There's only one other owner that I've had a chance to talk to and he was in Hanover with his blue one.
Oh well, I just wanted to say hey!
Scott.

Another Baltimore area owner.
Your right .....
Unfortunately, I rarely see one on my daily commute down 95 and the Capital Beltway.
My first trip in the 8 . Yesterday, I watched one family go by young boy in the back seat eyes/mouth wide open entranced looking at the 8. Despite the rain, a Mustang moved over three lanes pulled along side, again mouth wide open with a look of wonder .she almost hit me dont think she had a clue what kind of car I was driving. Big grin on my face. What happens when the Sun comes back out?

Hey hey,
It almost seems like the numbers are growing up around B'more... I personally will be unable to attend RevItUp, but would like to suggest that we start rallying NOW for June at VIR and August at Summit Point. Summit Point, obviously, is a little easier to fit in. Both of these events are sponsored and organized by Mazda Drivers, LLC (http://www.mazdadrivers.com/) who set up a FANTASTIC event last weekend at VIR. If you want to see what your car can do without local law enforcement's heads turning, and in a safe environment, these are fantastic opportunities. The August 28/29 event at Summit Point is also this year's Mid-Atlantic RX-8 Festival, so lets represent Baltimore!
Cheers,

Another MD RX-8 driver here...
i'm in Glen Burnie, and i drive my 8 (when it's not snowing or raining) on 695 and 295 everyday. i occasionally cruise up thru B-more way, but the roads are sooooo bad, i try to avoid it! plus, i'm still paranoid about parking the car where i can't physically see it for any length of time. all that said, if a Baltimore-area RX-8 club is formed, count me in.
