Beware of Mazda of Smithtown!!!!!

I brought my SS in last week for an oil change and other work aswell. They called me to tell me that my vehicle was ready to be picked up. The sevice manager brought my car around and to his "suprise" my dash looked like it threw-up. All my wires were hanging out ( Alpine IVA-D300 no where in sight) And my 2 Ten inch Eclipse subs were gone. My Amps were hanging from where they were mounted. I was pissed, and the General Manager of said dealership ( Mazda of Smithtown N.Y. ) was kind enough to tell me it wasn't there problem! We'll see about that when i take them to small claims court and i write 2 nice letters to Mazda Corp. and the B.B.B.

The car was not broken into in any way, it is obvious that it was an inside job, especially when they assured me it was brought into the shop everynight. I will never bring it to another dealership again. I would rather burn it. I Do Not reccomened this dealership....... BEWARE OF SMITHTOWN MAZDA!!!!!!

Um... please oh please tell me you called up the Police right away when you noticed your stuff was missing.

Personaly if upon recieving the car I realized all that missing I would of used a phone to call the police and have a dective down there A.S.A.P. . Also go as far up the ladder as you can if all else see if they have a loss prevention division (most companies do or something akin to it like the police do (Internal affairs and such). Thats yeah my god I wouldnt post about this you'd be hearing about me on the 6 o'clock news. Good luck on getting your stuff back or atleast the cash value of it.

Definatly what happened?...
You'd think with the amount of stuff stolen from your car they'd have a detective down there after the initial police officer to do interviews and obviously backround checks afterward. If this happened today I'd suggest calling up your local paper tomorrow and give them this story, then after that your local news station. Pretty much get as many people down this dealers mouth as possible till they puke. But only do the calling if the police tell you "we'll look into it" which usualy translates into "we dont care 'eh bye".

I will be persuing this matter with an suit against them in small clames court, as well as a call to channel 12 news. It's all about the principal of the matter now. They brought it on themselves when they could have done the right thing in the first place.

So what the police said they could do nothing?
Unless your dealer has a rather large sign in plain site saying "We are not responsible for items left in your cars if lost or stolen" then your dealer should be paying up, and firing people. Oh also get a hold of Mazda of North America and file a offical complaint and give them a heads up. When/if you call up if you filed a police report (again I hope you did this) give them the detectives name/number so they can verify it.

sad to hear about the dealership doin that.. that's why i go to a "Trusty" Jiffy Lube people that have been servicing my car since i brought it.. even thought the staff changes every freakin time i go up there.. they make sure my car is runnin strong...

only thing you need to go to the dealer for is OEM Parts and maybe recalls (if its that major)

Awww.. coke...buddy...

THERE IS NO TRUSTY JIFFY LUBE! They have been busted for scamming people for work they claimed they did but never did a thing. Maybe you should check out this under cover video done by NBC in LA. Its a 3 part series...

http://www.nbc4.tv/news/9265933/detail.html

Also there is a website with the listing of jiffy lube's in each state BUSTED for scamming. go here http://www.jiffylubeproblems.com/StateIndex.htm

There are some local spots in there just an FYI and I just hope yours isnt on the list. Because I dont trust my car in the hands of places like that is the reason I only let mazda and my personal mechanic work on my RX.

Sorry for hijacking and going up on my soapbox for a minute

Juice any update on your situation? I'm still surprised the DM said its not their problem. Again I'll stress get ahold of Mazda North America and report this!

And sadly gonna comment on this aparent side/hijacking topic. I ditto the Jiffylube comment of dont trust them. Unless you personaly know the person changing your oil (like a good friend who says "yeah I'm working come in after work") I'd honestly suggest your local mazda dealer or do it yourself. They've been known to put the wrong type of oil in, not tightening bolts and filters, or putting a bolt or filter on to tight to the point of stripping, having people pay for service's not rendered, oh and the multitude of law suits filed against them. I remember reading awhile back about a Rx-8 owner going there and they filled his Diff. with the wrong type of fluid and it pretty much caused it to explode (exagerating but it did break) Mazda would cover it under warrenty so the guy had to go Jiffylube and have them pay for it. Hm talking to much pretty much if you believe you can trust them take our advice DONT! Heck you noting they have different people every time you go there should be a tip something is wrong (assuming you go every 3 months thats just awful retention).

aight.. well i'm goin to try the dealer when i'm ready for my next oil change. but there use to be a regular person who was in charge of changing my oil and stuff.. and i did catch them at one point where they goin to try to charge me for windows and i clearly see that they didnt even get the driver side window.. so i told them to not charge me for it.. so they didnt.. I'm just goin to see how the dealer does for an oil change, and cooling system flushed.. But the thing is that the techs at my local mazda dealer dont know how to work on the 2nd Gens to good.. so i'm still lookin for a reliable one..

Back to topic at hand.. JUICERX8 what ever happend to ya car and the investigation?

no update as of yet. last left off with Mazda NA, they said to present the recipt of installed equip. to the dealer. It's a good thing I keep all of that stuff, so I will be bringing it to them one day this week. They are gunna have a heart attack when they see what everything added up to plus the custom labor of my painted fiberglass box thats all scratched up. I am compleatly ready to take them to court if nessisarry.

If you have Mazda NA on your side they'll pay up, and hopefully someone or group of people will be getting fired for this. BtW how much is everything totaling up to? If over 2k I'm suprised the police arnt interviewing everyone seperately and possibly asking for video tapes (assuming this dealer has them installed in the garage). If you feel the detective isnt doing enough (re: He's a young punk kid who cares) talk to his supervisor, you might get your $$$ back from the dealer (which means they admit guilt) but its still a crime. If they did this to you who knows how many times they did it to someone else who just sucked it up and didnt push on with the police and contacting Mazda.

Even if they do have a sign that says not responsible for property, they mean like jewelry and money right? I don't think you should have to remove your stereo system everytime you need a oil change that would be ridiculous.

YO, YO, YO, What Up everyone? Just got the call from the Dealers insurance company and after a lengthy investigation they finally chose to settle out of court and award me my reinbursment. HA HA HA. This past weekend I had just finished reinstalling all the replacement equipment back in, so it's just like it was. I'm Happy! Now Im gunna drive back to the dealership and thank the whole service dept. for paying my car payments for the next year! Maybe now they'll think about putting up some video cameras. Dirty crooks, serves 'em right!
