So I get to work this morning and go to grab my laptop out of the trunk when I see something wrong with my taillight. There is a ~4" long by maybe .5" wide at the middle sliver missing from the bottom edge. WTF!! I check out the rest of the light and the rear bumper - no marks. Now, the taillight was probably mint when I left work yesterday. I would of spotted something wrong when I put my laptop in the trunk, and I don't usually drive down the highway in reverse, so it's likely not road debris. I'm thinking some jerkoff kid in the neighborhood hit it. I don't have a garage and last night I parked with the tail of the car toward the end of the driveway. My house got egged over the summer, one of which wound up on the hood of my beater, so this wouldn't be the first time the local wildlife has damaged one of my cars. At least the beater I didn't care about though. I'm taking a trip down to Myrtle Beach in a week for a car meet and I really wanted it to be in tip top shape. This makes for a very sour morning.

 

that sucks....hit ebay for a replacement....i seen them as low as 40 shipped if you get lucky.....

 

I saw some full taillight assy's on ebay for 90-100$. All I think I need is the lens. I called my brother to see if he could get a price on it.

 

Maybe you can get the dealer to give you one of the 13 water-logged leaking ones that they have put on my car in the past 1.5 yrs. seriously I wish you the best b/c I know that the with the taillights i would hate to buy one on ebay and have it leak like all the ones from the factory. I mean seriously. can somebody in mazda fix this problem before you spend the money to buy one without a break in it, just to have it leak and fog?

 

haha..^^ I feel your pain. I'm getting # 6 replaced this wednesday. I would say, dont worry about the taillight unless it is cracked. Its only a matter time before it fills with water and you'll get a new one from Mazda. Mazda dealers wont give you the old tail light. they need to send it back to claim warrenty.

I think it jumps across the river from philly b/c either i am the most **** of the forum members b/c i don't know anybody who has switched them out as much as me, or I am the epicenter and everybodies problems stem from me. I AM THE BLACK CLOUD!!!

Someone backed into one of my taillights today while I was in Home Depot. I even try to park away from everyone else. I'm pretty happy about it.

I hate it when people have no respect for others' property.
